Though I grew up the oldest of 4 boys and 2 girls, I learned that a cousin is actually an older sister, and our REAL dad has 2 boys and 2 girls from 2 later marriages. I’ve reconciled w/ my real sister and gotten to know my 4 younger half-siblings and their kids… 2.) I was in the Marine Corps for 15 yrs, w/ the Dept. of Defense for 10 (a few yrs overlapping), 5 yrs w/ Disneyland Resort Security somewhere between the two, and with the ILWU for 13 yrs. I’m retired now, but I’m active as a substitute teacher… 3.) I’ve been married twice in my life. My first wife and I are divorced, but her and her husband and I remain good friends, as well as me being godfather to their son and 2 daughters. I married my second wife last yr, after several years as confidantes and good friends…. 4.) I was a single father to 2 boys and 1 girl-all 3 adopted, as well as being all grown up and doing VERY well in life-for many years. With a little help from my kids, my current wife and I decided to get married. My kids had always looked @ Lori-my wife-as a mother, and now, they STILL call her “Mom”❤️🧡💛💚💙… 5.) The oldest of my 2 younger sisters and her husband [from Brazil 🇧🇷] adopted 5 kids-3 boys, 2 girls-who were taken in by my brother-in-law’s family. After we came back from a trip/pilgrimage to Germany 🇩🇪 last summer, my nephews and nieces “adopted” ME as their “spiritual big brother.” I spend half the yr in Oregon w/ my family (spring and summer) and the Autumn 🍂 and winter ❄️ in Arizona (on family-related business). That business in AZ is just about complete, so I’m ready to close the door on AZ and the family there, and start looking ahead PERMANENTLY to the future back in OR/WA. My wish, my Dear Sibling, is that YOUR hardships pass like mine, and YOU are able to go forward… 💚🤗 💙‼️‼️‼️
My only true father figure in life used to sing this to me when I was little.. He died two years ago on Valentines Day of cancer. And god do I still love this song with all my heart. He wasn't my real dad, but he might as well have been. All the thanks in the world to Matthew Carter.

The father figure for the most of my life used to sing this to me all the time as a toddler, his name was Matt, and he was the most kindhearted, good person I'll ever have known. He died of cancer a year ago today, on Valentines day. And I couldn't help coming back and remembering. If there's anyone in these comments section that have been through similar, my heart goes out to you, and I know it's so hard, especially in the beginning, but you can get through it.
