The best Boxster instruction video I have seen on UA-cam … I will make sure my mechanic sees it before doing the same job on my Boxster S … thanks for your commitment to doing this
It’s an excellent weekend car. Very engaging, great sound with an aftermarket exhaust, handles well. Definitely not a daily driver when it comes to sound insulation of course. What do you plan to use it for?
You probably should check your cam deviations once you are done. As you found out you only need to lock one side for the IMS but the fact that both sides have a slight deviation is curious.
From when I did this on my 2001 S there are two TDC one for each bank, you need to find out which is which using the intake cams single sided notch. For TDC on bank one (passenger side) the intake cam on the passenger side at the back of the engine to the right side of the transmission mount should be pointing out away from the crank. This would mean TDC on bank one. Then turn 360 and TDC for bank two (driver side) should now be pointing out. Just an FYI as it does not matter which bank you lock for the IMS.
Good morning, wondering if you have the infamous shifter lever leak on your 6 speed? Just realized I have an extremely small leak there but no real replacement for it.
@LenartoGarage apparently it's more common than the 2nd gear. Very interesting, no solution but splitting the case apart. It's on the 986 forum, came across it a few days ago as I have an extremely small leak
Excellent video! I own #0845 so everything you do looks right at home. I am so glad to see the car on “quick jacks”, seeing you under the car with just two floor jacks made me really nervous. My 550 SE had the engine replaced on warranty at 19K. It is at 68k now and this engine has not had the IMS replaced. It does worry me some. After watching your video I think I could handle this part. I look forward to seeing the rest of this project. Thanks again!

Thank you very much
Haven't got a Porsche, watched anyway - great step by step!
Thank you!
Well done.
Thank you sir 🙏🏻
Lol just got done watching and yep! You will be splitting the case! Just what i was looking for. Thank you sir!
Fantastic instructional video. I am definitely doing this in my garage later. Looking forward to part two to replace my grinding second gear.
And thanks for the videos! I ended up picking up an 04 986 s 50th as well! So loving these videos for reference!
That’s awesome! Enjoy the s 550!
@LenartoGarage loving it! Lol replace your shift lever seal since you already have it all apart. Idk very common is what I'm finding out
Amazing. Always thought this was an engine out job!
Thank you! Yeah, it really wasn’t bad on the quick jacks with the engine in. Just a sore back from sitting under there hunched over 😂
@LenartoGarage working on a boxster is like keyhole surgery! Good work!
Excellent video!
Thanks for watching!
I'm on the edge of buying a 986 S 3.2 manual.... nice channel to see if its a good idea

I haven’t had that leak. I actually haven’t heard of it until now
