You're wrong. IT networks use star topologies (home runs of ethernet Cat5e/6a cable to a switch). Class A fire alarms use a ring topology. Not a single hot/ground, tip-ring-sleeve, 8P8C, or 2-wire differential pair describing a "line" or how to actually connect/terminate a line with a wire stripper, connector jack/plug or screw terminal. Where is the end for an EOLR to prevent ringing? What does a ringing signal look like on an oscilloscope? Fundamentals? Hardly. Just a bunch of hand waving at a powerpoint chart with incorrect information. Worse than useless when you're talking about safety.
