It's a facade and many are damaged by it. We all have our own pathology, but for someone like Sarah, it's verbalised, and so she is seen as 'needy'. But I have yet to see her be mean and calculating, and I feel more repulsed by the grandstanding of some who listen to others vile rants, and see this as acceptable.
