There are so many things which could be affecting it that I wouldn't know where to begin. Usually when fish twitch it is because of parasites so it may be worth putting a broad treatment through the tank like 'general tonic' from Interpet if nothing can be identified and the problem persists for more than a couple of days.
My pond is a prime example of that but it is a clay lined spring fed pond which is over 400,000 gallons (1,000,000 litres) so is too big to effectively filter. A small pond should always be clear if it has the correct size pump and filter.
I dont know much about ponds my dad has one in the garden and i have a tank in my room, Ive been to your shop for advice and the assasin snails are working the magic. but im not been funny or out my dad has a filter system in the pond .. pump in the pond the filter is in the shed next to it and its been there 12 years and he aint touched it in at least 8 years the water is crystal clear and the koi are huge
just taken one of these apart and the construction is very good. Given it by a friend, i intend using it as an aquarium filter. Anyone got any experience?

Just wondering : this might be a noobie question , but " why a pond?" , you only get to see the fish from the top, it's outside so you get debris and add sun lights , makes water dirty , could barely see through the water... BUT I do like waterfalls, the landscape , the lighting.. But why do people choose a pond or even have a pond ? Instead of a tank inside..

Thanks, this morning I checked her again ad she s still twitching and her swimming pattern is a little off but I've located a little white spot on her back. God forbid its ick! If it is what things can I do that wont hurt my nitrite snails, cory catfish and a very expensive bamboo shrimp.
Hi I have a problem, on of my rummy nose tetra is acting up, she's twitching, jerking and not keeping up with the other two, she's the only one of all my fish acting up, my angelfish, cardinals, cory, ottos, and other tummies are the same, the rummies even spawned once so I don't see what's gone wrong, the only thing that's changed is i feed live food less regularly and I added a new bamboo shrimp a few hours ago, any thoughts?
Some people choose not to maintain filters and sometimes they get away with it if the pond has achieved a natural balance. Problem is an undisturbed filter will eventually harbour harmful bacteria in anaerobic conditions. If that is disturbed and allowed to flow into the pond it won't do it much good.
Assassin snails are bad-ass.
I mean I've seen a lot of ponds before (man made) and they're always murky , you can't really see the bottom , and only see the fish when they swim near or on the surface .
