Thomas Alsgaard had the extra gear in the sprint, so he could have the opportunity to stretch out his leg to take the win for Norway.
Bjørn Dæhlie didn't have that strength in Lillehammer because he got outsprinted by Fauner in the end.

Fauner should have stand behind Alsgaard and jumper out of his slipstream in the last 50m.
