Purée ! ! ! ! Impressionnant ! Le top du top. Phil from Dunkirk
Bona! Bona! What a gracious benevolent man! I wish to travel to his place of birth and drink it in. Regardless, he brings all that anyway. What a place it must be.
His speed and technique are awe inspiring. Also the actual LOVE in his face as he plays is the real kicker for me. I'm basically a drummer who happens to play a few other instruments. When I play drums, I have that face so I know he's living his best life. May GOD continue to Bless ALL who read this.
And this is how it is done. You display the best chops in the Galaxy, you have fun, you engrain the audience, you pay tribute to the precursors incorporatin your own thing, and you are never braggin nor losing a bit of humility nor artistic integrity, all of it at the same time. The Holy Grail, Squaring a Circle. BRAVO RICHARD!
Clueless If ur a jazz fan …no intro needed I know Richard …he idolized Jaco and he toured w Zawinal. BONA has his own rhythmic sense and his records are beautiful…always bout the music first On his records he doesn’t even always show his virtuosity…like Collier…it’s about the music….here he s entertains and playing some fun great music
This is just more proof that this song is super hard to play, especially at these speeds. Jaco and them played super fast live, about similar speed to this. Super cool to see.
Awesome take on a killer tune! The interplay between the trumpet and bass a nice touch. Personally, I started my musical journey on trumpet in the fourth grade. Over the years, I added guitar and eventually a couple electric basses (one J, one P). Those are my buddies now - hurts my stomach to play the trumpet anymore. It's important to maintain that outlet of playing an instrument, even if it's just for yourself.
It's just nonsensical note salad when he plays his own stuff. Lots of bass players do this to show their prowess on the bass. In this case, it's painfully obvious when you compare that and him doing the Jaco stuff.
The fact is, for me obviously: You heard 300 notes at maximum speed... Ok, he is incredibly good, great technic, but nothing about that kind of "music" makes me start dancing, moving my body, if you know what I mean... And this not for bona, but a lot of people, like malaman... Than he started play jaco's stuff, and 3 seconds are enough to get incredibly pleased. Jaco was the best, not only for bass, but for music. And I think some modern bassist need to concentrate to remove some notes instead of putting them on the script.

I wish i loved ANYTHING as much as Richard loves playing bass!!!
A true artist, phenomenal musician, everything he’s doing is atomic energy. No words to describe my feelings
OMG this is making me sooooooooo happy!
This JOY OF PLAY... wonderful.
Fabulous performance!
The greatest bass player ever
For real
Mind blown, stoked, thank you for this video. You were fortunate to experience this.
He has the joy of music in his heart. What a humble monster.
Beautiful touches the guitar and trumpet make to song's output.
Amazing!! Jaco would be impressed...
The best version I've heard..:-)))
'' EASILY ''
The best version is the original.
I can play it like this in my sleep...because that's when I'm dreaming.
Gaaaaaa............that was the sound of my brain exploding and running out of my ears. Amazing groove and technique. Truly other-worldly.
Speechless...
Amazing!
Tbh I'd never heard of him, but to me he's the bassist who comes closest to the jazz-inspired grooves Jaco invented.
How did you manage not to hear of Richard Bona?
@@gabrieleschulze7627 Oh that was easy
Richard Bona es una máquina tocando fretless 👏
INCREÍBLEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite Jaco song. He was such a genius... just like Richard Bona!
Beautifully Effortless!
Who are the other musicians?

R. BONA & E. BAPPE ' ... SAME PLACE '' ...... UN REAL '' ...... CAMAROON FLAVOR ''
great!!
Bona! Bona! What a gracious benevolent man! I wish to travel to his place of birth and drink it in. Regardless, he brings all that anyway. What a place it must be.
Maybe or not. It doesn’t matter. But he didn’t write it.
He is alien for sure 🙌🤟
I mean it is totaly unfair to play bass like this 🎆💥
teen town 3:00
He does't have the power of the original ... his technique is trying to overpower Jaco ... can't do it
furchtbar !
I can only imagine having this level of skill as a bass player. It’s going to take me years but I’ll get there 😬
You won't, but your attitude is good.
Also BONA s a singer, guitarist and excellent marimba player and one of baddest players alive…chops AND great musicality
@@HenrikAkselsen they can, just because you couldnt doesnt mean you can disrespect people
@@HenrikAkselsen but
How's it going?
It's been two years
The Jackie Chan of bass players - all over the bass and cracking jokes. Really like that maddog tempo. You can feel the craziness.
A classic work reinterpreted with out of this world skill and infectious joy!

Saw him in a master class. That was something I won t forget. Gréât gréât musician and so cool and positive vibes. Thanks
simply kind of human and no doubt one of the greatest bassman you will can see and you can count on your fingers
Incredible technique with a sense of humour too!
Channeling the spirit of Jaco...Amazing compadre Bona !!!
…….without reaching Jaco‘s depth.
Seeing this tune out of the context of Jaco’s groundbreaking techniques highlights that it is an equally groundbreaking funk composition.
And this is how it is done. Speed and feel aren’t the same thing. Sad imitation of the greatest bass player of all time. Should have at least introduced the song.
Clueless

Magnifique Richard Bona !

Too fast and too showy, not enough feel and groove.
You are exactly right.

Alien... as is the rest of the band, obviously. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
proof there is life on other planets. Transcends outstanding... we'll need to invent a new word.
Ja o is up there smiling as only The Professor could do … !
It´s too fast man
he's good, he's really good, but that is not even close to him.
killer version!! the best one for me! thanks for the vibes too 🤩
What fretless bass is he playing? Make & model
it's just too much!
DAMN
turbo bona!!! jajaja que maquina el tio!

he makes it look so effortless

Literally warms my heart seeing him play ❤️
The only thing wrong with Richard’s bass playing is- I can’t play like that. 😅

obviously a great technician and lovely vibe all around but its not the number of notes and speed you play at that counts....
Oh my

Dare I say this guys better than the great Jaco Pastorus ? Wow ! 😀👍👍👍
