    Another great video and the cameo of Eric stealing the show 😅 glad to hear your experiences with the X-T5 and highlighting how capable this camera is for the pricepoint. Love the forest imagary and all the sample photos you put in the video!! What I like about your reviews is that they are aimed at actually using the equipment in the real world rather than obsessing over every minute technical detail. Sometimes reviewers forget that the whole point of photography is the picture.

    Got mine last Sunday but I’ve not used it yet… still to set it up in the way I’ll use it.
    I have the X100v and the image quality from that camera was better than the full frame camera I had, which I sold to get the X-T5 so I’m looking forward to seeing what it can give me.
    Bought mine with the WR kit lens and the 35mm f2 WR prime.
    Nice review 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Yeah, gotta love those XT series cameras! What sold me were definitely the dials. Having direct control over the exposure triangle is so convenient. 🤓
    Despite your fantastic review, I won't upgrade from the XT-4 though. The new sensor seems fantastic, but I think I can wait until the XT-6 to upgrade. Probably. Maybe. 😅
    Cool outtakes again, and the "Timmy" bird was so funny. I heard it too! 😆

    • @peterjackhandy
      @peterjackhandy Рік тому

      I was a tad dubious about the 40mpx sensor, thinking something must have been sacrificed for the upgrade.
      I have the x-t4 & 100-400+1.4 t/c & was in a position to 'upgrade' one or t'other.
      The 150-600 didn't offer enough potential improvement in IQ to offset the major inconvenience of carrying a much bigger lens, so I opted for the x-t5 & cropping.
      Had the x-t5 for several months now & haven't used the x-t4 for a single image: My intention was to keep it as a 2nd body, in case I found shortcomings with the new camera, but am going to sell it.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  Рік тому

      I agree, the dials and the classic vibe is definitely a winner. The XT series are cameras for the lovers of photography and enjoy the tactile elements. You are right about the convenience for the exposure triangle too and I think it works well for anyone wanting to pick up and understand the fundamentals of photography.
      That is ok, you stick with what suits you! It took me 3.5 before I decided to upgrade an already very old X-T3. I will be interested to see what the X-T6 would include!
      Hehe thank you, and yes the bird definitely said Timmy! I'm glad you heard it! 🙃✌🏻

    I should not, but i will probably buy a Fuji once i am back in Switzerland in 10 days. I still hesitate between an XS-20 for its vlogging capabilities (its a bit like a Swiss knife), or an X-T5, because its beautiful, cool, and great... 🤔
    Hard decision.
    I don't know why, but i wanted to tell you about the complicated choices i have in my life... Thank you for reading.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  Рік тому +1

      Hehe why not treat yourself! The only down fall I have found with the X-T5 if you are wanting vlogging is that you cannot fully rotate the LCD screen- i have found this fantastic on my XH2S and that’s why I use that all the time now for vlogging. So it depends what you are after, I haven’t tried the XS-20 for vlogging or photography so I cannot say on that. Hehe but I can see why that is a complicated choice and I am glad you told me but I don’t know if I helped 😄✌🏻

    I had decided not to buy the XT5 and stay with my XT4 , which is great but I hate the flippy screen. Recently I was offered a good deal on a demostration Fuji 150-600 and was amazed at the detail it gave on birds feathers. Despite not intending to, I have a Fuji XT5 arriving tomorrow. Your review of the 150-600 was great ,perhaps I should stop watching your videos to save money! Although i cant blame you for the XT5 as ordered it before watching your review.

    Excellent, very entertaining review and video as always! And I loved the bloopers! Curious if you're moving on from the X-T3 now that you've tried the X-T5 or is the X-T3 a good enough companion to your XH2s? I decided to stick with my X-T3 for a bit longer, since I think the 40MP would probably slow down my post-processing. But not discarding it for the future, it looks like a great camera! Cheers!

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it! hehe the bloopers always make me chuckle, especially Erik being potato 🙃 It is a tough one, the XT3 quality wise is still good but I think just some features I have noticed are a bit slower i.e. the autofocus, but it is still working great and I would never get rid of it as it has too much sentimental value to me -- being my first camera. I really am loving filming on the XH2s but this means I cannot use it for photography either so I need to have a think about my set up. Ideally I would like to upgrade to the XT5 or possibly to the XH2 (I like the fully articulated screen, it works well from my vlogging and self portrait photography) but I shall see as it all costs a lot. I hope that helps and actually the 40mp was fine for post-processing, I didn't notice it slowing anything down 🙃

    • @danmontesinos2094
      @danmontesinos2094 Рік тому

      @@wildandfreevictoria Erik being a potato was phenomenal 😄I'm glad you have such a sweet furry companion with you in all your travels. And good to know about the 40MP not slowing you down noticeably! I have considered also the XH2, but I still like so much all the tactile controls of the X-T line, although I've heard the quality of the X-H2 and X-H2s is top notch and better than the new X-T, like you said, with the paint and even the dials. But oh well, first world problems. They're all great cameras in the end. Thanks for your response and keep on with your adventures! Didn't get a chance to comment on but loved the wildlife series in Africa as well! 🦍

    A quick question, is the X-T5 worth double the price of a mint used X-T3?

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for watching ☺️ oooo that is a tricky question.. I would day yes it is worth it, just with the updated sensor, auto focus and other bits to the camera. If you are just wanting a second camera the X-T3 is still good - i still use mine but personally, I would like an updated 2nd camera but that unfortunately costs lots! So yeah, as a main camera and upgrade it is definitely worth it, as an additional camera the X-T3 is a great option 🙃

    Great review Victoria! Just thought I'd mention that the Sandisk Extreme Pro ii 300MB/S cards have worked great with my X-T4 for fast shooting and filming sports, so I guess they'll be good for the X-T5, but I'm no expert;). They're expensive, but definitely worth it if you do a lot of fast action photography.
    Having said that, I've found that timing and picking the right moments are key. "Spraying and Praying" could lead to dealing with the buffer freezing, so I guess it's down to practice and knowing the sport.
    Keep up the great work and once again, your photos are fantastic!

      Yes you are totally right! It’s remembering the trigger is not one of a gun but a camera, so choose wisely and be intentional with your photos 🙃

    It’s been so hard for me to decide on a new camera. I had an XE4 and this made me absolutely fall in love with Fujifilm. I’ve since had to sell that camera and am now looking to buy a new one. The XT-5 seems like the perfect camera for me but my only concern (based off all the reviews I have seen) is the burst rate and auto focus. I really want to get into wildlife photography but I’m on the fence whether or not the XT-5 will be a sufficient camera for this vs what else is on the market in the same price range

      Picking a camera is always tricky! I have the XH2S (mainly for both filming and photography) and it has been fantastic with wildlife. I do have a comparison review coming out of the XH2s and the X-T5 which will talk more about practical use in the field. Fujifilm also allow you to rent their lenses and cameras for 48 hours for free (with a deposit) so maybe do that so you can get a feel if you like it or not? also if it is going to match the style of wildlife photography you are looking at i.e. faster paced or small/larger subjects. I hope that helps, best thing is to test the equipment then you will know yourself if it is sufficient enough 🙃

If you can I would see if you can rent the camera bodies ti test out. In the UK you can rent Fujifilm equipment for 48 hours for free (obviously have to leave a deposit) but see if there is the same in Canada and then it will give you a good chance to feel what suits you best 🙂

    Hi Victoria, do you have any recommendations regarding AF-C setup for fast moving subjects like the puffins ? Thank you

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  Рік тому

      Hello, if I can remember well I used the AF-C and the tracking focus (in focus area) or the subject tracking (bird or mammal) along side the CH high burst mode - you can test these out by 15fps up is good. If you are doing a wildlife hide set up or in a situation where your subject is staying still but potentially going to fly away then also don’t forget you can use autofocus lock - this will keep your point of focus locked until lifted and then coupled with the burst means you should be able to get the animal in flight. Also think about your shutter speed to make your conditions e.g hand held or in a vehicle etc. So make sure your shutter speed is high enough to match this 🙂

      @@wildandfreevictoria Thank you for sharing 👍. I was in a hide this week and my parameters are very similar to yours. My question was more about the AF-C custom settings (you have a choice from 1 to 5 or 6 the custom one), which one do you recommend?
