so, post-covid re-open until 2022, while everything was back to standby only? no. i don't remember. at all. i also don't remember the parks only being open 10 hours per day (but still getting on every single attraction in the parks), or nonstop character cavalcades, or having the place to myself. or $17 airfare, and $75 rooms. because if i did remember those things, i'd be really annoyed at you for reminding me how great it was.
We started going to Disney World in the 2010's. When you had the ability, not the obligation, to run across the park to grab fast passes and combine those with child swap to get onto all the good rides before lunchtime. It was exhausting at times, but we got our money's worth, for sure.
I seriously JUST got in the virtual line because of You! Thank you so much! Used the 2 phone strategy and kept pushing refresh just before 7am and got in Group 3! Your videos are amazing! Thank you so much
We had the worse experience last week trying to get in que for Tiana's Bayou. I guess the first mistake was that we joined 1 hour before we got to that ride after 2pm. We were added to group 141. Another hour later when we arrived, they were on group numbers 89-101. After 2 more hours, it was only on group 103-114! It was so draining that we left. I do not like that que or crowd control method.
I got into my very first virtual queue using this method. I found your video at 6:55 and scrolled to the rapid refresh section lol THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Just wanted to thank you for putting out the initial video that talked about virtual queues. It really helped when we were down last March. Your rapid refresh method got us access to a late afternoon boarding group to Tron at the 1 PM time slot and one of the first boarding groups on guardians at the 7 AM time slot. Thanks for the update on Tiana's! I'm hopeful by the time I have the chance to go back to WDW, they will have transitioned it to just a standard queue and Genie+ LL
Hello! Great vid! If we joined the virtual queue for guardians in the 1pm slot but our boarding wasn’t until say 6pm, would we be able to leave the park and come back? Also, if you get boarding group at 7am, can you then get one at 1pm as well? Thanks!
I was just at the Magic Kingdom on July 18 and Tiana's virtual queue was still operative. I tried to join at exactly 1 PM but was shut out. Something didn't add up, it was as if they weren't allowing people to join a queue at all for some reason that afternoon.
Hi what times do they call the groups? We are traveling on our epcot day 4 hours to get there. We will probably get there by 11am. If I did the vital queue at 7am will I make it in time for my for when they call our group?
Great question! It depends on the season. I would say 30-45 minutes is typical, but I’ve had it as quick as 15-20 minutes when visiting during less busy times.
Absolutely! I'm working on some videos right now that will break down the new system. The first will be an overview explaining all the changes that should be out next week. Stay tuned!
Here’s the scenario, park hopping but going to Hollywood first, then Epcot. Wanting to get a GotG que. Any way to get a que time for later, or is it all pot luck? Would try the 1:00 que time if this fails… but would like your thought. Thanks.
Welcome, and happy to have you! The EPCOT posters are from shopDisney. Spaceship Earth: guide2wdw.com/spaceshipearth-poster/ Imagination: guide2wdw.com/imagination-poster/ The ones linked are 18x14". The posters on my wall were limited edition large prints, which they don't sell anymore. But shopDisney has a lot of other great EPCOT prints in the same style for other pavilions, including some retired attractions like Horizons and Illuminations.
You can only be joined to one Virtual Queue at a time. So in that case, you would have to try to join the queue once your boarding group is called. It wouldn't help to have another person book it.
@@Guide2WDW wow that kind of sucks. I hope they take the virtual queue off guardians soon then cause our call time isn’t until 140 and I doubt will be any left.
If I'm way past my Virtual Queue time slot will they let me in? I work n honestly there's just no way to get there before 4 on the days I'm open for reservation, so just wondering if maybe this year I might just not ever make it. 😔
Absolutely. Just on the confirm your party screen, edit the party to only include the 2 people you want. And make sure the other group of 2 does the same. Also, if you all are interested in the same ride, you could also just have one person get a boarding group for all four people. You don’t all have to be together to go on the ride when your boarding group is called. Everyone could show up at separate times during the return window and it would still work.
For riding Tron at night, I’d suggest the 1 pm queue for sure. It lasts much longer (recently for hours), and it’s your only shot for getting called late. You are right that you can’t modify your VQ boarding group. Alternatively, you could buy Individual Lightning Lane for an evening slot. That costs money but guarantees an evening ride. You could also show up late for your boarding group, but I wouldn’t fully recommend that. You may get a cast member who is cool with that, but you risk missing out on the ride if the CM enforces the return window.
@@Guide2WDW same here, we have the morning filled up already with LL and the parade! Can I just try to get in the 7am VQ and if I get something that I can't make it, can I cancel it and try again on the 1pm VQ?
I’m not opposed to virtual queues, but it needs to be improved. Like for guardians, you only have about 20 seconds to get a virtual queue before it fills up.
@@Guide2WDW I've played around with the app. I've seen the 1 pm virtual queue for guardians fill up in seconds. Tron will fill up much slower. I wonder how long it will be till guardians switches to standby. It's been 2 years already.
The 1 PM Guardians is for sure harder to get than Tron. You can see the stats I use here: www.thrill-data.com/news/disney-world-boarding-group-availability-tracker/#gog Most days, 1 PM Guardians is gone around a minute or under a minute. But there are certain days that have been available longer, like yesterday was 11 minutes. June 9th was 32 minutes. May 8th was over 2 hours. So it can be available for awhile, but you have to be lucky. In comparison, Tron has been available for hours many of the recent days. I am seriously surprised the VQ has lasted this long at Guardians. It feels like it should go to standby any time now. If I had to bet, I could see it going to standby this fall (maybe as a D23 announcement). But I also wouldn't be surprised if they just kept it around for another year at this point.
The virtual queue isn't reliable. My virtual queue for guardians was originally 12:30 and kept getting postponed all day until it eventually said they could not accommodate my queue. I went and threw a fit and they ended up allowing me to enter the line near the end of the day where I waited 1:45 minutes to ride.
I appreciate this channel because it exemplifies the insanity that is "planning" a trip to Disney. How are people not completely turned off at the idea of paying a fortune to visit a place that has post barriers to entry? You can go on European and Asian vacation with more activities for a fraction of these costs. It is insane to pay extra to cut lines only to have to prepare months in advance. Then there is no guarantee the ride will work, oh and the fast lanes may bypass story.
@@WaltonFarmPolo park tickets are at least $109 a day alone. That is not inclusive of food, flight, or lodging. I literally travel the world. That $109 guarantees you very little other than waiting in lines. I guess you can watch the "shows" but Disney on Broadway is more affordable and better.
I appreciate you sharing your opinion, and I definitely understand where the sentiment is coming from. There are parts of the Disney World planning process that I wish were way simpler, especially Virtual Queue and Genie+. That's part of the reason why I made this channel, to help simplify things and make sure people get the most out of the money they spend. I still think a Disney vacation is worth it, especially if you do some research ahead of time. If I didn't, I wouldn't spend my own money to go as much as I do. I also would stop making videos about it. But most forms of travel is going to feature some complexity. International travel can be extremely complex. It involves getting a passport, currency exchanges, cell phone roaming and data plans, and languages you may not be familiar with. You also are best served by doing research ahead of time to find out the most worthwhile activities, accommodations, and dining. These are also barriers to entry for many people. But it's still worth it to have these types of experiences. Whether you'd rather deal with the complexity for that type of trip over a Disney trip is totally a personal preference, and that's fine.
Also, I'll just end up going to go to Disneyland Paris or Tokyo DisneySea, so it doesn't really save me from planning the theme park trip. But that's a problem very specific to me 🤣
@@Guide2WDW oh no im actually planning a trip just to see Tokyo Sea! Somehow I think it will be cheaper and less nuts. If I ever get stuck in France, I'm def going there as well.
You still need to join the Virtual Queue to get a DAS pass for these rides (unless they’ve updated that rule with the recent changes, which is possible).
@Guide2WDW that's correct. We have a DAS pass for our son but you still need to get a VQ first. Once you arrive for your boarding group you then explain you have a DAS and then get sent up the lightning lane at that point.
Advice in this video still applies because Virtual Queue is unchanged. Take any parts where I talk about Genie+ and replace it with “Lightning Lane Multi Pass” and it still works, as in Tiana being the only VQ ride available with LLMP. As for my Genie+ video, that will be dated starting July 24th, but I have new Lightning Lane videos about the new system coming soon.
