Marilyn is a girl who made fun and mocked Felip for being Bisaya. She posted in social media and Felip replied to her post saying, "thanks for the lyrics hahahha". And so he did. He dragged Marilyn in this song called Pride.
Just so you know, there has been this age-old (or maybe until today) "looking down" to Visayans or province dwellers by the city dwellers in the Philippines. In movies, Visayans are always depicted as low class, uneducated maids. They're usually the comic relief in movies. Felip's pride as a Visayan can no longer let that happen. That's why he always makes sure to have Visayan lyrics so he can make his language mainstream. His solo debut song Palayo is full Visayan. People like Marilyn just need to respect every single ethnicity in their own motherland.
Well visayans have been making us proud time and time again. I grew up in metro Manila and my parents are ilocanos but that doesn’t make me better than visayans. I love ken because we both grew up in church and we are both sons of a preacher.
@@balong9644 Yea, me too, I never thought that other fellow Filipinos from other provinces are lower than me even if I lived in the city. Marilyn should know many Visayan artists brought national pride. Unnecessary comment from her. Now, Felip dragged her to her grave.
Making fun of our bisaya accent is really normalized in mainstream media. I grew up feeling insecure about it, which is why even now i can’t even speak Tagalog fluently for the fear of being mocked. I think that’s also the reason why most of us Bisaya prefer to speak in English than Tagalog.
Louder! I maybe not be Bisaya but my mother is from southern tagalog province, and we all share the same prejudice. Our clan up til this day got mocked for being "taga-bundok daw, maiingay, dapat bumalik na raw sa bundok.." and what hurts about this statements, i accidentally read it from a random post of my uncle(my father's brother)..

He is obviously against himself w/this album, fighting worldly desires and wanting to be align w/ everything that is good. You can see him struggle and won his battle based on the tracks. This album is truly an absolute masterpiece and he himself as a person is art itself.

I love Ache! I hope Felip can sing that onstage with the kids like a choir. The song is inspirational almost like a worship song esp at the beginning. I agree Hurraira Lust should have an mv! ❤❤❤

Felip as an artist is an EXPERIENCE! All his complexities is what makes him so special. He is far from perfect but it makes me love him more and makes me root for him. I will just cry my heart out in his concert

Its but proper to start the album with rage and anger with song foes. Expressing his inner battle with 7sins and end with a redemptive song Ache. 7sins is a materpiece of an album and Ache is a masterpiece gem inside it. Its a perfect end to 7sins. And the whole time I was listening to this album, I was saying thank you to Josh for choosing Ken and for reaching out to him in the first place all those years ago, otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy Felip/Ken’s gifts. Remember when Felip said “you can’t feel love if you can’t feel pain”? That’s what came to mind after I cried my heart out after listening to Ache for the nth time. This song and the way Felip let out all the pain which resonated so much in his voice showed me how heavy the challenges he must have faced. But it gave me a glimpse as well of how strong and grounded he has become, because although the song has a melancholy feel, it is very inspiring and motivational. The depth of pain he expressed here is testament as well to the depth of love he is able to give, and does give, based on comments fr most everyone he worked with doing this album, that it was not all for him but for everybody involved in the project. Felip is such an inspiration and he has proven that even more with 7sins.

I appreciate Felip for saying that it’s okay to skip through the songs bec he understands that his music is not for everyone. With that being said, I still went through the album bec I love Felip like that, and I especially liked Greed, Lust and Ache. 😊

Pride is one of my favourite in this album because it's Bisaya and the lyrics so meaningful
Ache is also my favorite. It's a masterpiece. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves because sadly, the promotion for this album has been low key. No media press con, no tv promotion, nothing. But I'm not losing hope. Perhaps slowly, casual listeners will hear it and share it to the world. There's a lot of people hurting/experiencing pain and struggles. I know someone out there will very much appreciate this song because it helps you release all that emotions that you may otherwise bottle up.

Felip using Bisaya in his songs is the kind of representation I wish I witnessed growing up. I love how proud he is of being Bisaya. In the PH, a lot (not everyone, but a lot!) of tagalog-speaking people look down on us, they use degrading terms to describe us. They think they’re superior than us because they speak tagalog. And when we try to speak tagalog they mock our accent- and that’s why most of us (again, most not all) bisaya would rather speak english than tagalog.
I lived in Manila for a year and a half and one time at a birthday party, one of my housemate’s friends asked me where I’m from and of course I said I’m from Mindanao. He said “oh you don’t look like you’re from Mindanao.” I mean, give me a break. They have this image of Bisaya people in their heads: farmers, domestic helpers, etc. And some of us really are farmers and domestic helpers, etc. but what’s wrong with that?! That’s why up until now I still feel awkward when speaking tagalog because I just feel like I’m being judged.
Anyway, Marilyn after the PPCon commented saying something about how Felip declined the hosting invitation (whch was a joke btw) after performing because that’s how Bisaya are - they’re ignorant and they’re from the mountain and that Felip was embarassing.
As a whole, aside from actually dissing Marilyn, Felip is using Marilyn to represent all tagalogs that look down on us mga Bisaya.
I love how proud he is and how protective he is of us mga Bisaya.

Could this be one factor why Felip, aside from being an introvert, doesn't speak much in their group esp during interviews? Living in Manila, he could have been mocked with his accent from time to time. I'm also part Bisaya & I am so proud that we have Felip as one of the few brave ones to represent us unabashedly.

Remember in PPop Con 2023, Felip performed there, and the end of his performance, the host teased him if he can host the rest of the concert. Of course, our shy KenKen came out, and shyfully declined, half-running to the back of the stage.
Then this Marilyn posted something in X, saying how Ken is such an embarrassment, that he was showing his being Bisaya, “uneducated, ignorant & taga-bukid” (bukid: mountains, intending to mean the Bisaya are untamed). Marilyn was mocking Ken’s origin/ancestry which Ken has tried so hard to promote & lift up (remember his first solo ‘Palayo’ is in Bisaya). 😂. Good for you Marilyn! Bleh. 😝
Being a Bisaya myself, ‘Pride’ has become my top 2 in this EP (my #1 is Ache, of course). Pride is so funny because most lines were sang in Bisaya & the terms Ken used are really savage. As in, savage SAVAGE. Hahaha. 😂 Such a shame that the savagery was ‘softened’ in the English translation. 😅
But yeah - from what I hear - Marilyn’s X post was the 2nd repost that Felip did, followed by “Thank you for the lyrics, hahahaha.”

Felt the same about Ache and Nyebe. At first I only loved half the songs. Now I love it all. Such a vibe.
This album is so interesting to me because it really feels like something that should be listened to in its entirety, with no breaks, rather than as individual songs. Almost like a concept album in the truest sense, even though each song still sounds great on its own. I do prefer 7sins to Complex but only because this album is (mostly) in a genre of music that I like more. My fave song is Foes - I just love it when he goes crazy with his voice and sounds like a demon, lol. But I also think that songs like Greed and Ache showcase the true depth of Felip's talent, creative vision, and fearlessness. He can be angry and drop a diss track, he can be swaggy and rap about spending money, he can be smooth and sing a love song. But he can also be brutally honest and really, really vulnerable. Ache actually reminds me a lot of Ilaw... not in terms of sound but the feelings behind it.

You said it right. Felip is an art, he is in music and style. You would never think that he is a direct person because many artists are often poetic even in real life😅
But lemme talk about Ache. Ugh the pain in his voice really depict the song itself. Few artist can do raw vocals so well in a recorded track. Also, though ache might associate to a sad depressing song when you really read the lyrics its actually giving positive outlook in life and there's still the message of hope despite of the ache he experience. The children choir at the near end is perfect as they symbolize hope and future. Masterpiece❤

i needed time to collect mt thoughts about this album as well.. Foes is a great opener to the storytelling, and you're right, the songs are Felip's personality, short and concise and direct to the point.. the songs themselves have their own characteristics, like a personification of the 7sins, and after all these "filth, dirt and impurities" that they brought, Ache is like water that cleanses your ears, and soul.. i really love your reactions and inputs in every song.. Felip not only brought new food on the table, but changed the menu and served you ice and cold reality check .. honestly, i don't know if Nyebe and Ache would be performed side by side, would we survive? i'm gonna go make that playlist now..
My personal ranking : 1.Greed & Lust - (because I can sing along these songs), 2.Sloth- (music is nostalgic to me) 3.Ache (reminds me of MJ's "We are the World" kind of hope) - 4.Pride (because it makes me laugh at his haters, bars are hitting and funny at the same time) 5.Foes, Envy, Gluttony & Wrath - (although my spirit and ears are quite sensitive to metal, hard rock, cussing and all that stuff, I totally get why not to those foes/hoes lol) 🌭🍓🌽🍗🍢 💙 Long live FELIP! 🔥🙌🏻

Ache is like listening to Ken's inner child healing. Painful, uplifting, but also realistic - the struggles never really go away, all you can do is refuse to give in. Heard an entire story in that five minute twenty second song. And whether by design or accident, if you listen to the album on loop, Ache becomes the perfect prequel to the story of the album.
Truly, 7sins is a masterpiece and i'm praying that it will reach greater heights worldwide. I love the entire album and it's hard for me to rank coz each sounds so good and different.❤ Ache always make me teary.❤Btw, if you check out Cyra, a Belgian-Filipino, she looks like a Felip twin. And even her fashion style.😊❤. Marilyn, she is an actual basher and insulted Ken and his Visayan roots. So, Pride is a hilarious and direct-to-the-point song for all Ken bashers out there. Marilyn represents them.😅

I was curious to see your reaction on this album and I was laughing when suddenly Stell appeared in your thought on Lust haha. About Marilyn though was some gal commenting him being bisaya and generalized that bisaya are ignorant/uneducated. Him always prided himself a bisaya boy made a song in bisaya language to get right back who belittle bisaya people.
