When I was younger my favorite park was Magic Kingdom. As I got older, it became Animal Kingdom. I feel like you’re only really able to appreciate the theming, research, and the authenticity of the park if you’re a tad bit older - moreover I feel like you’re only able to appreciate the details, and blatant hard work required to maintain the park with age. Love it!
I think you get a better appreciation of it as you get older but it’s always been my favorite since it opened when I was early teen. The one that really grew on me as I got older was EPCOT. I didn’t really care for it as a kid as I found it dull with very few rides and no real thrills. Now I think it’s a great park.
Animal Kingdom will always hold a special place in my heart because it’s where my family spent the turn of the millennium. It was the only park left with capacity for visitors that didn’t stay in a Disney Resort (they were fully booked so long in advance we couldn’t get a room in one of the cheaper ones. We’re from Germany and it was before you would book everything online, no travel agency at home could help us get a room.) At first, we were pretty disappointed because we thought there wouldn’t be a firework since Animal Kingdom usual doesn’t have them to protect the animals. But the park was open so much longer than usual, and they actually had a stage with live music AND a firework at midnight somewhere around the parking lot(?), a good distance away from the park and the animals. And you could see the other fireworks from the other parks all around you so clearly. Standing there, surrounded by people wearing goofy 2000 glasses and hats, is one of the clearest memories of my life. Also, I remember being on the Safari in the afternoon of 31 December and most of the animals were already kinda freaking out and behaving like crazy. It took us soooo long to finish the tour because way more animals than usual kept blocking the road or coming up to the vehicle... animals and New Year’s Eve just don’t get along, no matter if it’s an ostrich or a pet dog.
My family used to dislike Animal Kingdom and it spread towards me. We’d just zip through the park and never emerged in it. After going back last year and seeing pandora we actually slowed down and seen everything due to traveling with older guests, I love how close you can get with the animals and learned about them. I love how detailed everything is. It’s great to know the true meaning of it instead of just thinking of it as a “dumb educational zoo park”.
Bryce McKenzie mine too and when I was young I was scared of the Everest , dinosaur and the bugs life show for some reason probably because they were in the dark I guess
I love this park. It is the most immersive park as a whole that I've ever been too and with the addition of Pandora, they've upped the stakes massively. Would be nice to see how they continue to expand the park, especially with the rumours about Dino Land.
0:33 I saw this on a commercial years ago. I even saw it on the VHS of Disney’s The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. Then I visited Walt Disney World in 2001 & there I saw… 0:57 Disney’s Animal Kingdom itself. I returned again in 2007 & again in 2009. Those were excellent good times. Oh yeah, good times alright. Someday, I hope to return to Walt Disney World & see some of my favorite stomping grounds. Especially those at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Although I know there’s been some changes since & not all of my stomping grounds are at the heart of Orlando Florida anymore. I sure will miss one of them. I can only hope some my other favorite stomping grounds at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are still there.

Animal kingdom has always been a great park with Disney, it created a world where people can connect to animals, dinosaurs, and myths. This park has truly been taken to be a great park in Florida
A friend brought me a souvenir book back the year it opened. It is always a MUST for me to visit the park. I first went in the early to mid 2000's. The theming is over the top and immersive. Tree of Life is a visual must see as well. Have not experienced Pandora 1st hand, but I know it's AMAZING! Oh! There are"tons" of hidden Mickeys in the park.
I never visited Animal Kingdom, although I did go to Discovery Island twice. My sister however did go to Animal Kingdom and it was a joy to me to find out that one of the hippos she saw on the safari was a hippo that lived at the Central Florida Zoo when we were kids and would have seen her there.
When I was little animal kingdom was brand new. The one thing I remember more than anything about my trip is the tree of life. I probably spent an entire hour picking out different animals and I was just so blown away by it
Amazing start of a series!! Such a great idea to go through Islands of Adventure and then Animal Kingdom to tackle both The Lost Continent and Beastly Kingdom afterward, since they have a lot to do with each other, that's amazing narrative foresight. I'm from Latin America and the promotion for Animal Kingdom here was huge, I remember how hyped the park was and how promoted it was at the time, there was this super eerie magazine ad that had a family walking through the park being followed by shadows of animals and as a kid I was so enthralled, especially with the idea that there could be dragons involved. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Joah had made a trip to the Himalayas a few years back and brought home a mold of a supposed Yeti footprint, which he gave to the imagineers working on the attraction at the time.

Easily the best themeing of any Disney park other than DisneySea. Some people think that Pandora doesn’t belong in Animal Kingdom it doesn’t fit, but I think it does. Yes, it does stink that we will never get Beastly Kingdom, but I think that Pandora is pretty close, and it’s certainly better than Camp Minnie-Mickey. But I think that because they went the nature route for Pandora and made it centered around the plants and animals, with nature taking over industrial building, it fits with Animal Kingdom seamlessly. And yeah, it’s not as educational about conservation as the other lands, but neither is Dinoland. In Pandora they reinforce the idea of people living on harmony with nature, which sounds like Animal Kingdom to me. I think that they did a really amazing job with the land, and it has definitely made Animal Kingdom even greater than it already was.
I've met so many people that actually don't like Animal kingdom idek how it's such a relaxing park and the theming is even better in person Always have to visit when I go to Disney
