    I love everything about this train and other new night trains except no dining or cafe car where passengers can eat, chat and socialize the night away.

      There is now allegedly a restaurant between Salzburg and Budapest, though I didn't get to use it.

    Nice! They seem to have borrowed a page or two from NightJet on the service front to boot!

      Indeed! I was well happy to discover the free fizzy and breakfast choice. Not sure about the basic slices of bread, but that salami was really tasty and nothing wrong with the capuccino.

    You mean Zürich to Wien(Vienna) by sleeper train.

      No, as the video was taken to support this page, www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/zurich-to-budapest-by-sleeper-train.htm. However, I got off at Vienna as i had to get the photos for this page: www.seat61.com/stations/vienna-hauptbahnhof.htm

    Is it the same MAV product used on the Munich - Budapest Line?

    • @seat61
      @seat61  2 роки тому +2

      Not any more, An ex-ZSSK sleeper is now used Munich-Budapest, while refurbished CAF sleepers (like this) remain on Zurich-Budapest and have been deployed to replace the ex-ZSSK one on Berlin-Budapest. You have to keep up! In fact, the reason I took the Zurich-Budapest one as far as Vienna, and the Budapest-Munich one back, was to capture video/photos of both types.

    The most imp part, the sleeping berths are so narrow! And tiny. What's the use of tens of things in the cabin of the bunk bed is not comfortable enough

      The bed was very comfortable, and perfectly wide enough.

    Just did this in June '23. Old, cramped, dirty and rusty but slept well enough and breakfast & coffee were excellent. We travelled with elderly friends who were in a different carriage and had an horrific experience. They were woken at 3.00am and ordered to pack and get off the train immediately. No explanation or apology, or offer of refund. Tickets all prepaid weeks beforehand. Left on a platform somewhere in Hungary in the middle of the night with their cases. Would not do this again.

    Never ever ever catch the 5pm from Kyiv to Przemsl. 14 hours overnite in a seat. No option for a bed. I did it yesterday. It was so painful I almost got off middle of the nite in Lviv.

      @@connorgeorge6294 I had a great time. Kyiv is very nice, and absolutely SAFE. Four months of war and Kyiv has suffered five buildings slightly damaged, and repairable. The fear mongering mainstream media has, just like with the bat-flu, dramatically failed to tell the truth. The city needs its tourist industry back. I don’t think there was more than three people in the hostel I stayed in. Got to be honest, the peace and quiet suited me. Stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, absolute bargain prices, gorgeous girls…. If there were flights, I would be going several times every summer. Sadly, as it is, its a minimum 24 hours from London. I am going back to Ukraine in August, to do Odesa, Mikolaiv, perhaps Kherson by then. Back to the nitemare train from hell, their “high speed intercity” train, maxed out at 50 mph. Don’t think the welded track has been discovered yet. Train had a staff of must have been around 15. And another lie the BBC and others told, was train at night ran with their windows covered to stop them being spotted and attacked. What absolute nonsense. None of the windows were covered. I watched the sun set,and a few hours later watch it rise again. As did the entire train. You get there, you look around, you ask, am I in the right country, wheres the war? Fake pandemic, followed by a fake war. Whats next? Fake martians landing…?

    Man I just did (July 2022) Zürich to Budapest and back and the sleeper wagon looks NOTHING like this. It’s absolute crap. Some Slovakian wagons made in the communist era super tiny and squeaky. No wifi both ways. On the way to Budapest no breakfast only plain coffee or tea. Also both ways delayed specially the return which took 15 hours.
