Tanker KATHY MCKEIL & Polsteam cargo ship NARIE meet above Lock 2, Welland Canal, Dec 2, 2023

Polsteam's NARIE is seen upbound, departing Lock 2 on the Welland Canal, Dec.2, 2023. NARIE passes by the downbound KATHY MCKEIL, which is waiting her turn to enter Lock 2. The newly-named KATHY MCKEIL - whose name-change was done in Sarnia, just recently on Nov.19, 2023 - is the former tanker ship ALGOSEA.
This tanker ship had gone up the Welland Canal as ALGOSEA, but returned downbound as KATHY MCKEIL.
Note that the tanker KATHY MCKEIL is now headed directly to China, where she will be transformed/rebuilt into a cargo ship.
Therefore, this video shows not only the tanker KATHY MCKEIL's FIRST-ever trip on the Welland Canal...(indeed, this is actually tanker KATHY MCKEIL's Maiden Voyage on the Welland Canal..!) but this is also her LAST-ever trip on the Welland Canal as a tanker.
So, this is KATHY MCKEI'Ls first, last, and only, trip on the Welland Canal as a tanker!!
(Also, interestingly, the tanker KATHY MCKEIL never had any upbound trip on the Welland Canal - because the ship was still called ALGOSEA when she went up.)
In the future, when she returns to Canada after her transformation, and when she enters the Welland Canal, it would seem that THAT would the Maiden Upbound Voyage which she never had - - - but it's NOT the same: she will return as a different ship with the same name.
She WILL have a Maiden Upbound Voyage on the Welland Canal as a cargo ship called KATHY MCKEIL, but will never have a Maiden Upbound Voyage as the tanker KATHY MCKEIL.

That was fantastic. I love night videos because these ships take on a whole different aspect in the dark with ambient light from wherever and the fog creating an otherworldly atmosphere. You captured some really great sound with dripping water and machinery. This is one of your best and definitely one of my favorites. Just loved it.❤❤❤❤
