Thank you so much! I want to read all of these. If you haven’t read them already, I recommend “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer and “Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet” by Thich Nhat Hanh. I’m reading it for the third time now

@@rebeccawilkin6919 Thank you Rebecca! Braiding Sweetgrass is one of my all time favorite books and I am sure I will read -and listen to the audiobook- a gazillion times in the future! I am adding Thich Nhat Hanh's book to my list :(

I recently heard Robin give a free public talk at Princeton, she is such an inspiration and I’m so thankful that I came across her teachings. Just started reading House of the Spirits now thanks to your recommendation! Taking it with the me up to Phoenicia for some camping this weekend :)

I love how eloquently you delve into these different worlds. I'd like to recommend The Island of Missing Trees by
Elif Shafak, its a novel about forbidden love. Beautifully written and very moving x

2022 has been a very difficult year for me mentally. Then at one point I remembered my teenage years when I was bullied a lot at school and basically just lived in the worlds of books (to escape the blunt reality kind of). I remembered how characters from those books very my friends at times when I really needed and how reading helped me cope with my challenges. So, I started reading a lot more in 2022 again. And it was my saving grace again. So like you, I also deeply believe that stories are medicine. I can't wait to check some of the books from this video, thank you! By the way, I read "The house of spirits" last year because I saw it in one of your videos just laying on your bed, and it was one of the top 5 books of last year for me. I think I also asked you to make a separate video about books then 😊 So thanks once again for it.

For any woman reading this comment: I highly recommend the book Rtu Vidya by Sinu Joseph. It’s about the origin of cultural taboos surrounding periods and what they’ secretly mean. Life changing info.

You're so right about Isabel Allende. She does a wonderful job of creating atmosphere and characters. I love how she ties her characters together and makes the story so cohesive. Like she'll have a bunch of characters I think will never overlap and then, BAM! She's connected everyone's stories and my mind is blown. I just finished House of the Spirits earlier this year and was blown away.

Have you read any Carlos Ruiz Zafon ? I love his book Marina and also The Shadow of the Wind. My favorite example of magical realism is Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel.

I loved this sharing of books you've read Caro. I recommend Witch Light by Susan Fletcher it's amaizing and it's also known as Corrag. I have promised myself to read for at least 10 minutes a day because I'm that bad when it comes to reading 📚. I love Haiku poetry too 💖

Thank you for these great reviews, I think it is time to read Isabelle Allende again! and the Martin Sheldrake book "Entangled" which has been on my wish list for so long. I love books that have been written on how the author lives her/his life within the natural world - Robert Macfarlane comes to mind, and I read 3 books about a personal journey by Raynor Winn and her husband Moth , how wild walking helped both of them. I really think you would appreciate both these authors.

I too listened to the audiobook of Big Magic (twice!) and loved it. It's not an exaggeration to say it changed my life. There is a new book called the Creative Act by Rick Rubin (famous music producer, but the book is not about music per se). It's presented in short, informal chapters discussing different thoughts on the creative process and human creativity. A similar message to Big Magic, with some points I found very helpful and interesting. I find that topic fascinating. I will check out the Mission of Art!

Thank you so much for this recommendation, Leslie! The Creative Act has been an AMAZING book to read!! Definitely in my favorite books list, and now I am obsessed with Rick Rubin's podcast :D

Amo Agua Viva. I’m brazilian and I was wondering if the amazing words and poetry of Clarice would come across through translations. I think in spanish maybe its possible to get the amazing phrases Clarice whisper in our life. I first read her on a audiobook and felt as if someone was singing and dreaming in my ears, its the best. She is amazing. And now I’m also curious to hear the Abramovich biography wich I already read, but now I wanna listen to her. 😍 Will for sure read Isabel Allende as well, I was in doubt where to start. ❤ Gracias ❤❤❤

Hi, could you recommend any audio book platforms please? I don't use Amazon because of thier business ethics so Audible isn't an option but I feel I could 'read' more if I could use an audio book. Any ideas? Thank you and so glad you already knew about Merlin Sheldrake 😊

    • @Cafeinacoli

Hi Marie! Same as you, I don't use audible for the same reasons :) I've been using libro.fm for years and love it. You can check them out here: libro.fm/referral?rf_code=lfm368632
(If you subscribe with that link I'll get a free credit for an audiobook ☺️ and you can do the same when recommending it to a friend)
