This is giving me black-and-white movie nostalgia vibes with a sprinkling of cozy "sitting in front of a fireplace while it's snowing outside" mood. Wonderful! 💖
Wow, what a delectable piece. As you say, Previn could do it all - and then some. Great work transcribing this from audio ! I would definitely love to have the sheet music - if you don't mind my recording it as well for YT.
Thanks Chris! I've been following your work for a few years by this point. Very inspiring to say the least! I would love to see you take a crack at it. You can find the transcription right here: drive.google.com/file/d/1SOFm518levKccc1ybExA0sAJBJ4YZTGz/view?usp=sharing
@@sjaakdouma Thanks so much ! And great to hear you appreciate my channel. Previn was my hero, more than any other conductor. I many LP's from his productive tenure as chief conductor of the LSO. Anything he touched he turned to gold, you just could not go wrong with any recording. I knew he was an awesome pianist (also have his LP with Gershwin's Rhapsody and Concerto with André Kostelanetz) but have never really listened to his solo work. That should be about to change now. I'll dive into this lovely piece right away - just what the doctor ordered :)
Fantastic job playing and loved your arrangement. Really admire your work here. I'd like to know what keyboard you're using and any deltials about your set up which looks awesome. -THanks, GR
Thank you so much George! The audio is recorded on my Steinway M with a set of Oktava MK-012 mics. Because it's a small room I'm unable to record decent camera angles sitting behind my grand. So I just play in sync on my Roland A-88 for aesthetic reasons. How is that for inefficiency?
Thanks for your reply Sjaak. That makes sense because I was wondering what kind of electronic keyboard sounded that good. Keep up the good work. G@@sjaakdouma
@@georgerothman13 I’m waiting for the day sample libraries sound like this. I do enjoy Keyscape which I use all the time, but surely there must be a better library out there since its release in 2014.
What a beauty and wonderful playing, thank you for sharing, Sjaak. May I ask you which piano VST are you using here? It sounds very pretty (and to my ear it sounds like a Steinway D)
Aw man, thanks so much Argo! You have excellent ears, it's actually a Steinway M. Check my answer on George's comment on top for my setup explanation :)

It has that, but at the same time it's beautifully sophisticated just beneath its surface. Man, Previn could do it all.
@@sjaakdouma I will have to check out more of his work, because this one really speaks to me. :)
That whole record I mentioned in the description is in the same vein. Outstanding stuff!@@kobitoergosum
André Previn is probably my favourite jazz pianist ever, and that's not even what he is best at. I don't get why he is so underappreciated.
Have you seen that interview special of his with Oscar Peterson? Worth a watch as well!
@@sjaakdouma Yes I have. Two musical legends who are also very charming guys!
Magnificent transcription. Beautiful playing !
Many thanks Frederic! Previn's arrangement is so good!
I got goosebumps. Beautiful performance of a beautiful arrangement. Thank you x
Thank you so much Amanda!

Inspiring, so interesting that arrangement, tasteful harmonies
Oof yes, love Previn's harmonic approach
