The Sick Rooster and The Little Thief | Issues Raising Ckichens

- This video is related to raising chickens. I show you different tasks that I perform in the chicken coop, and some problems that I have faced dealing with these curious animals.
The most frequently performed task in the chicken coop is providing fresh food and water to the chickens. I feed them mainly corn, and I complement their diet with vegetable scraps. I changed the water every 5-10 days.
It is very important that the chicken coop is clean, because I have noticed a greater increase in production. The floor of the chicken house has a layer of sawdust that I replace every 10-15 days, depending on the number of chickens. I use this sawdust to fertilize the garden (you can see it here: • How to Make a Garden i... ).
Occasionally, certain events occur that are often difficult to deal with, such as predators or diseases. In this video, I show you how I treated a sick rooster, diagnosed with "Marek's disease", which affects the hen's mobility and can be contagious. Although it is recommended to sacrifice the chickens, I have tried to cure the affected rooster myself, in an isolated area of the field. Fortunately, after many doses of various medications, given over a month, the rooster recovered satisfactorily, although his mobility was slightly reduced.
Although I have had problems with predators, such as ferrets, rats or cats, in this video I show you another common problem, such as rodents that eat the chickens' food, because it is improperly stored. I have solved this by storing the corn in a watertight container, although in this video I tried a technique based on the predation of the "thief". I kept the corn in an area accessible to my cats, hoping they would catch the little thief red-handed. Although the mouse was captured by Màrron, I decided to store the food in a watertight container to prevent further damage.
