I like how this adds an alternate win condition to the game that isn't either completely useless or completely OP. It's something you or your opponent can work toward either instead of checkmate or as a backup option.
Would you be willing to make a tutorial for Homeworlds? You made one for Martian Chess by the same people before, and I can't easily wrap my head around the rules for Homeworlds. Your vids always help a lot, so it'd be cool to see you cover a complicated game like it, especially since it doesn't exactly have a board! It's pretty niche and there's not a lot of videos about it, so having some light shed on it would be nice :D
Even though the crown prince can't be capture, do you still need to avoid putting it into "check?" Can the crown prince be blocked by, for instance, a rook that has the whole 7th row under its 'protection'?
In the footage at the end of the video, the crown prince is shown starting the turn in what would be "check" and is allowed to move in front of an opposing rook, so I'd imagine it's fine for it to be threatened by other pieces.

Why the *Crown Prince* looks like a rock?
dwayne🗿
It pretty much is a rock, just an obstacle that can neither capture nor be captured
Excalibur.
had the same question
Because the king had an affair with a pet rock.
Now THIS is an interesting variant! A totally new win condition.
I swear people are literally going to invent chess variants just for Triple S to make videos about
crown rock
Imagine giving a chess piece that wins when reaching the last rank, and it can't be captured, compensated by being blocked and it cannot capture.
“And the winner is ROCKY!!!”

If the opponent check/checkmates you, but you are able to move the crown prince to the last row in that move, is it legal to do so and win the game?
Asking the important questions.
Probably, but not necessarily
If the opponent checks you, then you have to get out of check no matter what.
If the opponent checkmates you, you lose immediately
same as random guy except for the edge case where moving the crown prince to the 8th rank somehow stops check
@@arya_1503_fancade *Normally* yes, but there's a new win condition that can change things, both mechanically and from a flavor standpoint
Priority of checks. You cannot check to avoid checkmate. Checkmate is instant loss. Obvious.
The cool thing is that you can actually play this game on a regular chess board!

Are you allowed to escape check or checkmate by moving the crown prince to the last rank of the board?
