  • The Colorectal Center at ‪@ChildrensMercyKC‬ provides independence to patients with Mace Surgery. This video explains the procedure, as well as gives helpful information regarding side effects and post-surgery care. While not intended to be a step-by-step of every element in the procedure, this video’s intent is to show a general overview of the Mace Surgery process.     Patients and families will work directly with Dr. Rebecca Rentea, Director of the Comprehensive Colorectal Center, one of the few highly-specialized pediatric colorectal surgeons in the United States. She is passionate about taking a comprehensive approach to treat these complex conditions and committed to helping families find answers. Her goal is to provide the highest quality of life to patients and families with colorectal conditions through every stage from infancy to young adulthood.
    Other specialists on the care team:
    Colorectal Surgery: Dr. Iris Lim-Beutel completed fellowships in both pediatric general surgery and pediatric colorectal surgery and joined the Comprehensive Colorectal Center in the fall of 2022. She is particularly interested in long-term functional outcomes for patients with Hirschsprung's disease and anorectal malformation. Additionally, she brings expertise in surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease. She hails from the Philippines and grew up in New York. She has a keen interest in bringing quality pediatric colorectal surgical care globally.
    Children’s Mercy is home to one of a very few Comprehensive Colorectal Centers in the nation. We take a team-based approach to care for children with colorectal conditions such as Hirschsprung disease and other anorectal and pelvic floor disorders.

    Hi, can this be performed in a bed pan, for a person who is bed bound?

    Maybe this channel can help me i had the surgery like 10 yrs ago and im to old for the doctor who did the surgery and i missed my appoint assuming all urologist knew about this surgery. and my ACE have been acting funny so my question is what kind of doctor do i see for the surgery i had PLS HELP?????

      Hi Chris, would you mind sharing what issues your having? I'm getting ready to have this procedure. And you should ask your primary care Dr to refer you to a gastrologist or Google local urologist that may be experienced with this.
