EU methodology for assessing GHG hydrogen-based fuels and recycled carbon fuels

Requirements around assessing GHG emission savings and sustainability criteria for the production of renewable hydrogen are at the heart of two delegated acts (DA) for the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) II, which the European Commission recently adopted, and which may be published in its current version in April 2023. Mr. Jan-Hendrik Scheyl, PtX Sustainability & Certification, PtX Hub Germany, provided insights into the status quo of EU requirements for renewable hydrogen and its certification set-up.
