I love this! I have been resisting taking down the trees (I have 4 but I did take off the ornaments) and I realized it was because of the lighting! So now I have plans to put up some lighting in different places to mimic the tree effect. And to put some lamps on timers! I used to laugh at my parents who did that so burglars would think someone was home, but I think it’s a great ambiance idea.

It's so funny because after we took the Christmas down this year I told my husband our house looked so sad. I thought it was funny that I wasn't the only one feeling that way! I then sat down and made a green wreath to add to the living space along with some new neutral decor. Loving the tips as it still felt a little off...I think the scent and lighting are where I need to elevate things! Happy New Year!!!🎉

Today I put out a couple of heart decorations. We will be putting our Valentine’s flag out too. I think I will be looking more on what decor I can get that will brighten up our rooms year round. An inside wreath is a good idea.

Thank you for all these great suggestions. Every year I get very sad when Christmas is over (I still have my tree up) but we had a busy weekend and will be putting it away. I'm definitely going to get the candles and the timer.
I appreciate your cat friendly ideas. I need to start buying those candles on a timer. Since I can't light candles I will use a candle warmer when it's right in my line of sight. I have very busy and curious kitties who would absolutely dip their paws in melted wax if I wasn't careful. Plus I realistic faux plants are really a great addition and safe for the kitties. 😊

Obviously, you do not decorate for Mardi Gras right after Christmas! lol My house went from Christmas red and green decor to purple, gold, and green. The tree stays up, but with different decorations. It's pretty fun and no time for the Christmas blues. I loved all the neutral colors with a splash of greenery, but your house always looks so good!
