I love how these underrated talents are showing up in UA-cam lately. It's a great platform to showcase the intricate process their products went through so buyers can actually see what they are paying for and how worth their craftsmanship really is.

"know how" is the key. However, this special 4 wheeled rounding block is awesome. Didn't know such a tool exists.
By the way, using a brass brush and brushing the silver under water makes a great shiney surface. Try it out.

I think that big shaping block you describe was for making it squared, otherwise a normal drawing plate could be used.
I had a go at viking wire weaving a few years back, (which produces a similar looking result) and I just used a wooden drawplate. Was just all round holes though...no square ones.
He really does have some fancy tools, huh? :D

I can’t believe time consuming and hard work that went into the masterpiece, and you’re charging ONLY $263.
    Amazing work !

      This was under $300? Woah....
This is an example of artists underselling themselves....which is why someone else should do the pricing, lol!
When I did similar craftworks (both silver wireworking and bonecarving) trying to price it was the hardest thing! It's really hard to figure out what your piece is worth if there's nothing else out there to compare it to.
This piece should be AT LEAST $500, maybe more, just the work and craftmanship put into it.
It was unclear to me what metal it was though. Were they solid silver coins, or something else? I really have no idea.
If it was made from solid silver, then yeah, $263 is WAAY underpriced!
I love this piece though! Was great to watch it being made!
      (edited for typo)

@@furqanziajutt8014 - this is not an item of jewellery for poor people.
Don't let your poorness make artists cut down the price of their work. They undercut themselves enough as it is...and it's honestly a crying shame they feel they have to do that at all to themselves.

In a world where everything is mass produced and at cheap prices, true hand crafters like this are woefully undervalued.
Why pay hundreds of dollars for an exquisite piece like this, when you can get a lookalike from China for $10? This is how the majority of people think, because they have never made a single thing by hand themselves, and so don't understand the work involved.
I have crafted many things in my time, and apart froma select few, most don't seem to appreciate the work gone into it and will invariably complain about the price.
Fuck them. Let's see THEM make it! :P

This will be the 4th. time I've watched this video. Everytime, at the end I wish I was NOT 75 years old so I had time left to learn to do this. Guess I'm stuck with making soldered chainmaille. His work is way beyond extraordinary.

    • @TheMurlocKeeper
      @TheMurlocKeeper 3 роки тому

      Pfft, plenty of time, lol!
It's not actually overly hard to make this. The fancy tools certainly make it easier though.
You can actually get pre-cut and even pre-soldered rings in any size and gauge, so all that starting from scratch thing is unnecessary. If you can find that, then the hardest thing you'll have to do is to solder ends onto it, lol!
If you'd like to try something else that looks cool, but is way easier, try something called viking wire weaving. It looks similar, especially when pulled through a drawing plate (just a handmade wooden one is fine, it's all I had), and you can just use regular craft wire, which comes in all sorts of colours.
You're never too old to learn a new skill! :)
You're on a computer and watching stuff on UA-cam! You're doing better than most your age! :)
