Great job, Jerry. Even more than your awesome skills, I envy your patience and dedication to the project and getting it right. That isn't something that we're born with, it's a learned virtue.
Jerry: From Tom of Regal Wreck fame. So gratifying that you both remembered my name and are using the drill jig I had sent you to use with the Regal Wreck. The Regal Wreck is still being played regularly and is great. it has developed a crack in the back that I may ask you to fix, but I will follow that up in a separate email. I loved this restoration of this Martin. I believe I have seen EVERY ONE of your videos. Of course, the Regal Wreck (RSW 160), is (in my opinion) one of your best. If you ever need any jigs or similar things made, please let me know. My milling machine and lathe are always looking for things to make. May God bless you for all the joy to bring to the You Tube community. I am currently rebuilding some pre WWII airplanes, but what you do with string instruments is inspirational. Tom
Ha~That Saddle... I've seen "Nearly There" mean almost another 1/2 hrs. Work, sometimes. With the Earphones on that Ol' Girl sure Sounds Sweet! Another One Survives~Thanks to the Hands of the Doctor!
That is a great song. I still play my old-faithful 1956 0-18. It was a pleasure and very interesting to watch you bring this guitar back to life. Thank you. All the best.
As a Musician with very eclectic tastes in music and a love of working on my own stringed instruments, this is my favourite restoration channel, which is a problem as I CANNOT abide Country and Western music! Bluegrass music I can tolerate, because of it's Irish roots, but It's the caterwauling vocals sung through the nose that I can't stand! Thank goodness for volume control/mute and Thank You for fascinating and enlightening videos !
A nice end to that series Jerry. Compared to the the beginning, that old beauty is so much better and sounds awesome. Thanks for the content Jerry and Emeri.... Merry Christmas
Nice work. That guitar sounds great. Your song was decimates Marty Robins style. He was a great singer and you hit it right on the head thinking he would do well with it.You would do so as well. You have à great voice ànd a great talent for writing. Ànd your craftsmanship is awesome. Thanks again for ànother great video series.
what a great series, the way you handled every little and big problem shows your Master Luthier skills, filmed. edited like a pro! Thank you for this great adventure Jerry!
Well this series Jerry was almost a lesson in Luthier repair, WOW!!, also if you wouldn't have said you wrote that song for Marty Robbins I would have thought it was one of his songs, great job on everything, learning a lot from you. Thanks.
Such an interesting series of these four fine videos. Amazing what you do! Very impressive. I had a 1996 Martin OM Spruce top and laminate Mahogany sides and back, but sold it two years ago. I do miss it a bit. I am really a beginner so just played sporadically and decided to give it up back then.
Watched the 4 through..wow! I hate to put my old two cents in but I'm an ole woodworker from way back... As crazy as it sounds a motorized multi-tool with the right flat cutter on the end could save a lot of time... But once again any master has to be comfortable with his tools. Awesome job and awesome song, Marty Robbins missed out on this one, checked out a little too soon. Thanks Pizon 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 much respect to you and your mad skills. 🙏
Rosa String Works i totally enjoyed watching your video’s of the Martin 00 18 from the start to very end. You may have had a couple of little mishap’s , But Martin’s are built very well, Much the same as other Prestige Guitar’s so in my opinion you done a beautiful job. Thank you so much for the lovely music and the nice song at the end. Keep well..👍🏻
What a relief! That one seemed touch and go for a minute there. Probably the best it's been in decades. Hopefully the last time it needs open heart surgery.
Another masterful endeavor! Would that we could scrape out our arthritis like you did all that glue mess. Would that we could intonate our muscles so they ring as sweet as those strings. Merry Christmas and All the Best to you, Jerry.
Hi Rosa, to stop the router run off/run off. Use the plunge router to drill two end holes and a series of holes along the slot. Use the plunge router to remove a small amount of timber between the plunged router holes. The reason for run off/router cutter vibration is taking too much material off in one pass. (Trend Routing Technology) could help you out with any advice.....thankyou.
You nailed the repair and the Marty Robbins song. That guitar is lucky it ran into you. The best possible outcome short of buying a new one and maybe more desirable than a new one... Thanks for your unremitting, unrelenting demonstrations of a commitment to "doing it right"; no compromises!
Great job Jerry, i have said it before and i will say it again, you have the patience of a saint your quality and attention to detail is phenomenal, you truly have made a silk purse out of a sows ear. the guitar sounds great, i loved the song from where i stand, sounds like a sure fire hit to me. Fantastic entertainment last night with you and the guys, Emeri is just something else, wow, what a beautiful voice. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing all these videos together and sharing them, i know how time consuming it is. Sorry to see Caleb go, i wish him every success in the future, he has had an amazing teacher in you. Merry Xmas to you and all your family, wishing you a healthy, wealthy, wise and Happy new year. Peace and Love from me and all of my family here in Bonny Scotland.
@@costrio Hi Olivier, Jerry has bags of patience, would have given up and thrown it over my shoulder, the frustration levels must have been huge, you know, you just overcome a huge problem then another 10 come along in quick succession. Cheers. Andy. Scotland.
You're really right on being either perfect or being close on a musical instrument. Being close is never going to be good enough in my opinion, because it's perfection that sells the records, not close.
I think those grooves in the fretboard are from the strings rather than fingernails. I keep my nails trimmed way back, but over the years, the metal strings wear down the fretboard.
Dear mr. customer, sorry, i broke your top and sides, but on the brighter side, the guitar is now playable and you have great inspiration to write a blues song. Sincerely, Jerry.
Greetings from Richmond North Yorkshire. Guitar sounds great. Thinking of getting a small 18-style Martin to contrast against my HD28 at some stage so this repair and demo is of particular interest to me. Love the song you wrote. Followed your Christmas singalong with the band this morning too. Happy Christmas! (we can still say that in the UK ;) )
"Happy Christmas! (we can still say that in the UK ;) )" Some time ago, in the US, it became "Happy holidays". Oi Also, the nouns joy and gift have become verbs, as in "holiday gifting". (say what?) And the sign I saw at Walmart which said "Joy fully". How you do that I do not know. The English language began it's trip to H, back in the 70s, with the stoned out runaways and has continued downward through the illiterate social media users and the, ever present, commercial marketers BS. I have a regret too. Mine is that I didn’t find your channel years ago. You’re an outstanding craftsman. Beautiful work!
Late for I finally found your Chanel. Outstanding work to save a Martin. New life restoration.

This should be pinned.
A truly superb job - very well done!!!!!
Love watching you, Jerry!
I really loved this hole thing! Very satisfying! Thank you👍
Great song .
When I was 18 months old Marty Robin's held me .
Because I was his youngest fan .
He was at our county fair at the time .
That CA glue and sanding trick works for the fingerboard divots too. As for darkening the bridge, use steel wool and vinegar then walnut oil.
What a great result, a fine sounding Martin reborn. Excelent work
I loved the project, and could hear Marty singing at the end. Bravo sir.
Really pleased to see you working with the base, Jerry. That's why I made it for you.
What a treat to watch you work. I have learned so much watching you.
I can sit and listed to you for hours. Actually I just did. This whole series at once..
Love watching you gary

Amazing restoration, a lot work, but in the end a fantastic sounding guitar
I think Marty would love your song .Thank You
Looks pretty, sounds great. I'd call it a win. You mentioned years ago, "It's gonna look pretty bad, before it gets better".
Jerry those punches are called "Transfer Punches." Nice work on the 0018.
I think you did a fantastic job turning a train wreck into a professional grade musical instrument.
Great work Jerry, you have every reason to be proud of this repair!
"From Where I Stand" is, indeed, a very "Robbins-esque" sounding song.
