One way to think about the Stark Law is to call it the Stock Law, where if a physician has stock in a company, this law makes it illegal for them to pump that stock up for their own gain
Coming back to say THANK YOU, YOU'RE THE BEST!!! I love your videos, since step1... today I took step2 and this video was GOLD! I watched it just a few days ago and it helped me today🥰
yaaasss for Dr. Dirty Medicine for teaching us high yield boards concepts yaaasss for teaching us how not to get sued yaaasss for that supportive ending to this video lol
Hi Dirty! just wanted to let you know that I'm an avid follower of both you and Dr Randy Neil and I have to really thank you guys for helping me out with some topics that truly had me beat for step 1. I wanted to ask two things in particular, will we be seeing the step 2 CK preparation resources video make a comeback? I noticed it got taken down recently. Also, what are your opinions on the matching anesthesiology video? Do you think it still applies to anesthesiology hopefuls today (especially IMG's?) Thank you again for all the work you put in, you rock man!
so what about chiropractors that refer personal injury patients to the same law office who obviously cut them a check with every settled case….. with that being said, the chiropractor also racks up the bill with a ridiculous amount of treatment including both adjustments and physical therapy. also, chiropractor has at least 2-3 “red carpet patients” that he treats a day and bills the insurance but NEVER collects a copay or any type of payment towards their visit or past visits.
I have a question about Stark Law. Does that apply to referrals to other physicians? For example, it is illegal under the Stark Law for a spouse to refer to their spouse for speciality care, like a FM wife referring her patient to her orthopedic surgeon husband for a procedure? Thanks!! Love all your videos!
How do anti kickback laws apply to places that have sliding scale fees? It seems from my limited understanding of this topic that could be considered a violation.
My husband kept trying to file insurance claims on me so he wouldn’t have to pay, then he goes around acting like he did all he could for me. I’m so tired of him.

Emma Lathen wrote a book about these ethics issues in A Stich in Time, written in 1968.

Is this relevant to step 1?
Thank you!
Hey Dirty Medicine, Is the stark law the same as physician self-referral law?
Thanks!
Excellent!
I was sad you didn't relate the Stark law to Tony Stark (:
Could easily be done, considering the man is mega rich and prob owns surgi-centers everywhere
I was highkey waiting for some mention of Tony Stark too :D
I'll accept all the lamborghinis, please.
