Thanks Thomas!
I was going to get the cook's sharpener but they told me 47 weeks lead time.
I ended up with the woodmizer BMS250. Very happy with it. Works a little different but does a good job.
I'm looking to get a woodmizer BSM250 as well
Nice video and explanation. I note on my Cats Claw that there can be irregular positioning. Yours looks excellent. It might be helpful to discuss tensioning of the pressure bar spring, flatness of the band on the support arms, and lubrication. Sometimes my bands "rebound" slightly after advancing, and that makes non-uniform tooth geometry. Enjoy all your videos.
Luv the content , thanks Thomas .
Awesome job sir
Just became an owner of the cooks sharpener, I'm having a hard time with the set up to make the sweep thru the gullet and onto the backside of the tooth. I could use some advice!
Thanks,
Ralph in Waterloo, WI.
youhave to wait till the stone is ready
Do you have the correct cam for that tooth profile??
good video and job. take care, be safe and well
Hey buddy, Cool equipment, miss seeing Mr Robert.
Once you try the Woodmizer BMS 250 you'll be in love lol, & not look back.
I could be wrong, but I ll take that risk lol.
The cbn wheel address the entire guilt is supper effective.
Saw milling & band sharpening is in my blood.
Wouldn't have it any other way 🤔👍💪💪💪💯🧡👌
I am in Lake Mill, WI. I have acquired a cat claw sharpener but am having a hard time setting it up to do the full sweep of the gullet and the back side of the tooth. I've watched all your videos 👍. Need some help on this one. Can you give me some tips.
I have the cooks sharpener, having a hard time getting the sweep in the gullet and up the back side of the tooth. What's the trick?

Thanks for the video, I have learned a lot. 10:57
No mention of the weld. Woodland Mills stresses importance of starting on one side of the weld and stopping when the weld comes around because tooth spacing across the weld may not be exactly the same as all the rest. What do you and Mr Robert say?
The sharpener W'Mills sells is not designed to sweep the back of the tooth. The only way I can see to make it do that is to reshape the cam that lowers and raises the grind head. I haven't tried to do that, though.
I have talked to quite a few blade manufacturers about the placement of the weld. You are correct, not all manufacturers have it perfectly spaced. They try to get it close, but there is some variation. If the spacing is not the same I am usually close by and can adjust if necessary. The sound of the grind will give it away.
Best practice may be to start and end at the weld, but when I buy blades that is something I look at. It's not too important to me for sharpening, but it's very important when setting a blade. The direction of the set usually changes at that location.
One manufacturer I talked to said their customer wanted the blade exactly at a certain length, and they didn't care where the weld was because they one time use blades for pallets. The weld for them was halfway through a tooth.
i to have a woodland mills sharpener i think you are right the cam has to be reshaped to get whole tooth an i to am not going to try and reshape it.. the cooks sharpen are much better but cost way more. take care, be safe and well.
I'll have to try your step and twist technique...I never felt safe doing the whip and fold.
I will have a video out next week that shows both methods to fold and unfold blades. I don't wear gloves typically, so the step and twist method works great for me.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When you sharpening is it nenecessary to sharpen the front and back teeth. On my Woodland Mills sharpener it only get the front's.
Yes, you should sharpen both sides. I'll have a video out soon on my timberking sharpening system. It's probably similar. It's hard to get a full sweep, but I can hit the front and back of the tooth with it. A thicker stone may be the fix.
Good stuff.really didn't get a good look at the rolling of the blades.
I have a video next week that will show multiple ways to coil a blade.
Ineed that type where can I find second hand
I talked to cook about this back when I bought mine . they talk like this is not a problem and I guess nothing was done.
Far too heavy on the face by the way.
