One of the Best product reviews I’ve seen. Thank you for the details. It’s helped me decide to go with the Balsam Hill trees. Now I know why they are priced higher than the big box. A review of a 9’ Balsam Hill Silverado Slim with the UltraBright Clear Micro LED . Wondering why they are so so expensive-$2,699.
I have a Balsam Christmas tree and I love it so much. Great quality and the most beautiful branches. Love how I can go from white lights to color lights or both white and color with a remote. One of my favorite Christmas trees ever. Very easy to assemble. I can't say enough great things about the Balsam Hill tree. This tree will last you a lifetime. ❤️🎄
I have 2 Balsam Hill pre lit trees and both middle sections went out in the first year. Balsam Hill is very difficult to deal with. They will send you lights for YOU to put on. Mine are the BH Balsam Fir 7.5 feet with white lights. I could understand one having problems but NOT the first year and NOT on both trees in the 1st year. If you just have to have a BS tree...get an unlit one. Also, if you want the look of a Frasier Fir...get the Frasier Fir. The Balsam Fir is much lighter in color.
That's why I AVOID lit trees. If the electrics go... just get 2000 or 4000 lights and do it, nothing like spending a few hours putting them up every Xmas.
I was at Home Depot today and they have a lot of realistic trees that seems comparable( with these plastic outside needles and fillers inside just like BH trees) and the price is better. And they do sell a bruce spruce realistic there too. In this video she is comparing two different types which is not really fair. Balsam Hill sells traditional trees too, much cheaper then realistic. So it would be fair to compare those with Home depot or compare both realistic. I really wanted a BH tree for a while , but Home Depot choices really impressed me today, so I’m leaning towards HD now. So it is worth to stop by at Home depot before it is all sold out
@Ms. Anthrope I decided to go with a real one this year and see if anything is left in HD after Christmas. If not I’ll buy it next year. And btw they do show the branch tip number in HD. The higher the number the more expensive the trees are, but still cheaper then BH. But who can really tell if your tree has 4000 branch tips or 6000? I saw one with 4000 and 6500 and honestly I can’t tell the difference. Except for the price:) Anyway it all depends on how much budget one have. I just didn’t like the review because it feels like a biased opinion.
Keep in mind I couldn't pick the tree that I was sent for the comparison. Although BH did pick 2 spruce trees. With said I have seen and taken footage of those exact trees from Home Depot you are talking about. HD has really stepped up their game this year and I was very impressed. However, BH is still better quality and is fuller than the ones from HD. Also keep in mind there is no warranty for the HD trees. The point of this comparison is to show the difference between a lower level and high level tree, which hasn't been done, and people appreciate seeing.
You may think this review is "biased" but I have reviewed several Christmas trees over the years, it's part of my job, and BH has the BEST quality I have ever seen. I did mention the branch tip number for HD tree because they did have it on the website. It's not just about your budget, it's about the look and quality you are going for.
@@stephanielynnhome I guess you never looked at the Kaemingk Everlands or some of the other branded ones. If you go to a Christmas show where you have just about every Xmas tree except for BH since they don't do shows... well not in the UK anyhow, you can see some amazing trees, similar shapes, tip counts and even better PE to PVC ratio at half the price or better. I did get a Wreaths which costs as much as a Xmas tree:))) and yes it was great, but I swear I could do better myself if I had the time, bits have started to fall out.
was looking around for a new tree as I just moved into a brownstone and have 11ft ceilings with a large 7 ft double window facing the street and want to do a nice 9ft tree. That Balsam hill IMO is the most amazing tree I have ever seen and just ordered the 9ft version of the brewer spruce. thanks for sharing
I prefer trees with sparse branches. There is room for the ornaments to hang straight. By the time all the decorations are added, you really cannot see the "skeleton" of an artificial tree. If you get a tree that looks like a solid wall of greenery, then the ornaments look like they are hanging on for dear life. I also love a rotating tree stand because the visual depth of a sparser treee is fascinating as it rotates. The slowly moving branches give a twinkle effect as the shine of the ornaments and lights are first revealed and then disappear from view. The effect is much more glamorous and dramatic with a sparser tree because you can glimpse lights that you string deep inside the tree instead of just on the outer "wall".
The HD tree reminds me of the scotch pines that we had when I was growing up in lower Michigan. Living in New England a scotch pine is difficult to find. I must admit it still is my favorite Christmas tree.
Nice review, but I would much rather see comparisons between trees of similar quality. This was like comparing a Lexus with a Ford. How about comparing Balsam Hill trees with those from King of Christmas and Frontgate?
Unfortunately it sold out even before I got the Home Depot tree to compare it with. However, I did list some other trees that I really love in the description that are still in stock and on sale! One of the main points I wanted to get across is that the balsam hill brand is worth it!
I love the Balsam Christmas tree 🎄 better , I love the color and the way that the just opened up right away, I like that comes with the storage bag the gloves , and the little lights ! I watch most of the decorators and I love how easy they look to put together and how beautiful they look! Could you do a video where you do a complete comparison of a Balsam Hill Tree to a King of Christmas Tree? Or, since you've had both in different videos, can you compare and comment with YOUR opinion (because it means a lot!) based on those videos for those of us who are trying to decide between the 2 companies? Please?! LOL! Thank you SO much for making these videos! I've learned a lot and you're so informative and you do a great job!
Thank you so much for this comment! I have been working on this video for the past couple weeks! It will be out today! It is strictly my opinion based on my experience with both companies and their specs.
Hi Cynthia! I got the console from Restoration Hardware, we have an outlet near us and that’s where I got it from more specifically. Unfortunately,I just checked the website and I couldn’t find it to link 😩, but it was between feeding an infant and dealing with my toddler lol, so I hope you find it!
Balsam Hill is definitely legit, one of the finest examples of artificial trees done right. But store bought trees have their place, and shouldn’t be shunned for being sold at Home Depot or Walmart. Many families who are raising kids can only afford store bought trees, and in 2021, those trees have certainly come a long way since when I was a kid. They damn near look real and they are full enough to hide the center pole. Not every family can or is ready to purchase a $400 to $700 tree that is only going to be used one time out of the year.
Yes, that is why I put a variety of trees in the description box that are trees I have reviewed and recommend over the years, including a $169 flocked tree that is so beautiful! I try to find really great trees at different price points, and update the description boxes with them in it every year!
YAY...I’ve been waiting for this review😁 Thank you so much for this Stephanie - it really helps to showcase what a BH tree looks like in person. I’m still considering one:) Will this one replace your flocked tree from KOC this year?
Balsam hill comes with the best warranty program I have seen for Christmas trees. They also provide troubleshooting instructions for their lights, extra light bulbs and tools for switching them out. I think they try everything to help you out if the lights go out, however it does make me wonder how long the lights will last 🤔. But I would read their warranty to be sure!
Both trees are beautiful. The one of the left looks fuller which is what most people seem to like. The one one the right doesn't but it's a pretty style however too expensive even with a sale. I have been reading so many reviews on this company and its not good. People saying the lights after two years don't light up anymore and it's either the bottom or top part. So it doesn't sound like a good investment in the long run. Also, she keeps giggling through the video and seems nervous. Don't know if this is her natural speaking behavior on UA-cam, but makes me feel like she's not being totally honest. And as someone pointed out, it's not fair to compare two different type of trees as if they were the same. It's like comparing apples to oranges, both fruits but not the same.
I chalk the bad reviews up to user error. However, I will come back and do a review in two years so we actually know. I don't get any commission or affiliates so there is no incentive for me to not be totally honest. It is actually illegal for me to give a review that isn't honest. The point of the comparison is to show the difference between a high quality and a lower quality tree, which many people find helpful, and to show how both trees are the same.
The Home Depot tree looks much more realistic to me. The two glaringly & obviously different shades of green on the two different types of branches on the Balsalm Hill tree makes its pvc branches (the filler/ background brances) stand out and look incredibly fake. Not to mention that I have heard multiple people conplain that Balsam Hill has absolutely horrendous customer service.
The balsam hill one looks great.. I noticed if a tree at home depot says most realistic and has alot of the pe branches its pretty sparse and you can see right through the tree if you place it by a window.. can you see through the balsam hill one?
Yes, you do see through it near a window, it’s fuller on the bottom but gets more sparse toward the top. However, I feel like with the style of this tree it makes sense. But if you are looking for a super full tree, this may not be the tree for you given the style.
Everyone who is saying the HD tree looks more real needs to have their eyes examined or they haven’t seen actual real spruce and fir trees from up north. The trees are never that rigid and full. You actually usually see the bark trunk through them. The HD tree is too molded to be a real tree
Yeah I don't agree on the realism. The Home Depot looks more way realistic. The color difference between the two different styles of needles on the Balsam Hill are a dead give away .
The warranty is the best among all the Christmas tree brands so far! However, I still think there is some room for improvement, but there is much to improve in all the other brands.
