You are easy to understand and your lessons accelerate the learning curve of improvisation. I’m glad that saxophonist like you are on line give us help and direction.
firstly ... Thank you. The lessons you give us are so well explained and easy to understand. I believe they also help greatly with the understanding of music theory. And yes subscribed I might even take up one of your courses. Once I can make a sound that doesn't offend the ear.
Thanks! I've been teaching this stuff for years, so I've got a pretty good system of cutting out the bs and just telling you what you need to know to make it work.
Imma try this next...still on your charlie parker lick lesson...vids are dope...the breakdown is dope and playing along with the vid helps me great...thanks...keep swinging these lessons and will take any suggestions in the reply...I know...sign up for the lesson...got it...lol...in tears of joy...opening the sax case is a joy to me...thanks
Hey Alan! Thanks for the kind words. Enclosures open up a word of possibilities! Check out the Kenny Garrett lick I put up today. It's pretty easy, and a lot of fun!
Another great tutorial. Thanks Scott. As for the Spanish speakers requesting subtitles.. maybe there is a computer generated way to make that happen. Or perhaps the bilingual community could pitch in and help create the subtitles. Just a thought.
I have a somewhat urgent request. I have a Conn 10M tenor that is a new horn for me. Since I got it my left wrist has developed painful tendons. What am I doing wrong? I am pretty sure it has to do with how I hold and balance the horn. I do have an added on three hole neck strap ring. I changed which hole I am using and that seems to help. Perhaps you could do a demonstration with a tenor showing us how to tenderly hold a saxophone? Mahalo Braddah
Hey David, if it's a new horn it could just be getting use to the new position. Or your hand is in a slightly different position from before with your old horn. The most important thing with hand position is for your wrist to be as straight as possible. You absolutely don't want a hard angle in your wrist turning in towards the saxophone. That will give you wrist problems and carpal tunnel. When you put your left hand on your sax look at your wrist, if it's bent move your elbow in more to remove the bend. Hope that helps.
Hi Scott,I posted my concerns to sax on the web and one guy shared this with me. forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?162469-Painful-thumbrests I think I see what's going on now.
Cool..triad stuff..I like this pattern stuff..I been practicing some patterns too online pdfs. I guess repetition always win..any Input on pattern n improv stuff..m learning scales n chords but have no definition for patterns n when trying to improv don't know how to start..
I don't really use patterns with improv. I practice patterns for technique and chops and hope they just come out in my playing. But the best way to force them is to choose a specific spot to use them. For example, with this one... if you were playing a G blues.. commit to playing this enclosure over every G7 chord or every C7 chord. That will get it in your ear and under your fingers. I'm going to do a video on this!
Hey, I recently did a video on chord extensions. Check it out. The + only mean # (raise) in reference to the 5th degree. If you see the plus on an extension (9, 11, 13) it is just telling you to add it to the chord. If they want it to be raised or lowered they will add # or b.

Scott getting back to E7+9 chord I asked about, does the + sign mean to # the 9? That would explain that part of the chord. Thanks
Hey, I recently did a video on chord extensions. Check it out. The + only mean # (raise) in reference to the 5th degree. If you see the plus on an extension (9, 11, 13) it is just telling you to add it to the chord. If they want it to be raised or lowered they will add # or b.
