Very disappointing honestly. As someone who finds myself having significant policy differences with her I’ve always respected her realist takes on issues and her candor. But this just bummed me out to see.

Well not directly calling for death as a supporter of the protest I would admit there were some anti semitic elements but that doesn't delegitimize the entire protest and everyone who is participating as an anti semite. In every protest you'd have some people who'll do some extreme slogan which is not endorsed by most of the protesters. If we condemned every protest due to any single unreasonable chant by someone who's over zealous something that is not endorsed by most protestors then there never was and never will be a protest that was or will be ever legitimate then every protest should get banned
Emily Jashinsky is different when she's on Breaking points or on Nat Con Squad.

Unfortunately it is not confined to America. This behaviour is happening in many other democratic Western countries.
Journalists should investigate who is financing these demonstrations. In my country, a major documentary has just been released in which the direct connections between Hamas and the demonstration organizations.

Unlike other "democratic" countries America has a first Amendment that protects speech and protests. It will be interesting to see how the courts rule when the federal lawsuits begin.

Nobody seems to be pointing out that incitement to commit an act of violence is a felony in every state. In most states, the act of violence doesn't even have to be committed; incitement is enough for criminal charges.

A minority can make an environment unsafe or untenable. In the past, you'd have scenarios where a student protest occupied college offices or tried to block people from attending classes. I want to be in favor of speech, but if doing your job or studying requires trying to guess the mood of the mob, then it does seem like putting an unreasonable burden on people. And if a dude approaching a student in a library to get her phone number could constitute harassment (or rise to a level where an individual could experience trauma), then a hundred people berating you or threatening you seems less reasonable. In a free society, you should be okay to hear criticism, but you should also be able to go about your business. There's a right to speech, but it has limits. Screaming in your face or surrounding you would be more overt political intimidation. If you saw the video of jewish students in a library with people pounding on the windows, they weren't shouting "understand that you're entirely safe, but here's our political argument". It wasn't language that would put people in a receptive state to hear your argument. I'm not sure the purpose of free speech protections was to allow you to cower people.
