Darn right. I'm trying my best to do my part, I do play in a few cover bands around Detroit and I write some music as well. Just getting started, and I don't plan on stopping while I'm still breathing 😛 thanks for watching and reaching out! ✊️
Super clean and precise. Nice to see someone of your age appreciating the best pop/rock music ever created. I was about your age when this record hit the streets.
@@kyletaulbee Kyle: it was the fall of 1972 - a mere 52 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday (I'm old!). Steely Dan hit the world with "Can't Buy A Thrill". Musicians' ears perked up everywhere (I still play bass in a band, BTW). You couldn't listen to AM radio for more than 40 minutes without hearing Do It Again or Reelin' In The Years. On FM radio, cuts from the LP were everywhere. A new pop band finally came along with the talent, class, and sophistication of The Beatles. Then, of course, "Countdown To Ecstasy" was released in the summer of 1973 and the world would never be the same again. They became King Of The World. Mr. Fagen's still out there doing it; RIP Mr. Becker.
this is epic. so accurate. I and some people i know would be forever greatful if you could upload a simple video of you playing it slowly so we can all play it
Thank you very much :) in the top right corner of the video screen there is a settings ⚙️ icon where you can change the playback speed to make it slower --- have you tried that? If not, give it a shot and let me know if it helps or not. This solo is killer, I'm happy to help you learn it!
@@kyletaulbee not only did I hear on the radio when it came out, and had the vinyl album, I have heard them play this in concert twice (before Walter Becker passed away). You did a great job!
Excellent rendition Kyle.As a matter of interest,do you know if the Steely Dan guitarist actually wrote that piece himself. There are many excellent guitar solo's but that one is in my top 3.
Thank you! Great question. I couldn't find a straight answer online, but I would guess that he did. He (Denny Dias) was a founding member of the band and may have had a background in jazz. I have a feeling this solo was largely improvised too :-) this is one of my favorites as well.

I'm convinced Denny was tripping balls when he came up with that unbelievable solo.
I can't even fathom what it took to have that come out of him. I'm gonna guess that a lot of it was improvised too, so that's even more amazing.

Thankfully, with the replay button i can make you do it again.
