@@andrewlee6025 I prefer a seperate set with a vulture droid. Simply because you want to mass them. If anything they should add a couple of buzz droids. Perhaps a few ground crew battle droids. And that should be the set.
I mean obviously. You’re basically saying “if more product was included in the box at no additional cost, the current price would be more worth it”. Like you’re statement isn’t wrong, just more of a “well duh”
Yeah... I don't know why but if there isint some figure for every 10 euro spent it feels over priced but if there are more than that it feels like a bargain to me. No idea why. Can't explain or defend it as an idea
The Obi-Wan's starfighter still available today has the same amount of minifigures and sells for 30 dollars. Adjusted for inflation that set would retail for 32 dollars if it came out today. So I suppose 35 dollars would be a reasonable ask. But FORTY-FIVE is really just price gouging from lego at this point.
It’s crazy how they slapped an all around worse canopy on a Jedi Interceptor, slapped some TCW printing on a live action Ahsoka head mould, charged 15$ more for it, and called it a day. Lego’s audacity these days is astounding
They fact that they spent who knows how many tens of thousands of dollars on a new mold for an absolutely useless part but didn't print the ARC-170 canopies is absolutely diabolical.
The still available 75333 being $30 just means I'd expect this to be $35, $40 at the absolute tops. All the stickers and poor prints and questionable canopy just make the price that much worse since the thing has so many compromises.
At $30 I would have bought four. At $45 I'm thinking it will be zero 😂 I appreciate your reminder that you can just say no to companies when they test your wallet's sanity
Maybe a hot take, but I much preferred when the interceptors/starfighters had you simply place the astromech's head on the ship. Achieved a much more accurate look *and* avoided the issue of having an excessively bulky/thick underside. Simply give us an extra astromech head if play is the concern.
You’re discussion of the price made me feel better about it. I was stuck in that older mindset of how much I’d like it to be. Stellar review as always Jang! Big inspiration!
I understand they're a different kind of ship, but seeing this at $45 while Jedi Bob's starfighter is $40 and Kenobi's is $30 with the same amount of figures is insane. Both of them can still be found on store shelves!
If they would've kept the old canopy and just changed the color people would loved the look and it probably would've been cheaper for them even instead of making a new mold. Will never understand that decision.
The craziest thing about the price is, is that from DAY ONE it came at a discounted price on multiple websites. Like it's never ever been 45 euros on any site other than Lego. It's been about 35 ever since it came out on most websites where I live (Belgium) and internationally like Amazon, which means any European country can get this at a discount
The Jedi Interceptor is one of my favorite Star Wars ship, but I'm not paying $45 for that. I'll wait for it to be on sale for $30 - $35. On the stickers, while most are big, there's not too many, IMO. My one sticker complaint is the control panel; Lego has done enough 1x2 control panel prints that there's no reason for a sticker there.
5:05 Making the window bigger would also have saved on printing ink/paint. So maybe then Lego could have added a bit more to the white and actually make it white
If Lego wants to charge premium prices, they need to stop doing non-premium corner cutting: HUGE sticker sheets instead of printed prices, poor printing, and lower-quality plastics and parts quality control.
That canopy next to the old one is the ultimate example of fixing what ain't broke. I don't get it. The new one just looks worse across the board. I even think the trans black looks worse in this case next to the old trans brown. And for the price you can't get away with worse.
This has happened a few times. The rebel helmet, the 2018 stormtrooper helmet, the p2 clone helmet with holes, etc are all inferior molds to their predecessors
I have built the set yesterday evening. I am grown adult, but what I don't like the most is the fact that cockpit opens up without being conected to studs, that means when you grab the older versions of this starfighter by cockpit they are stable and you can swoosh it around, but this version can't do it. That means that for kids it might be harder to play with.
Anakins one a few years ago with the Mustafar side builds and 5 figures including an exclusive Gunray figure. And that was $35… this is very overpriced
@@logroll2353 that set came out 13 years ago so comparing price directly isn’t really fair. I do agree that for $45 a set like this should have a couple side builds or minifigures so make it unique.

Something I'm not seeing people discuss is the choice of white as the base color for the folding stabilizer pieces. Using the dark red/maroon would have looked much better so you don't get that white edge all the way around. The maroon worked well on Obi-Wan's interceptor. I don't have a lot of room for new LEGO sets these days, but I was thinking I could make room for this one when it was first rumored. What's one more Jedi Interceptor? But between the stabilizers, the cockpit issues you discussed, and the bulk beneath the droid socket, it's got too much working against it for a price tag I would already be hesitant to reward. Adult fans can afford it, but $45 is a lot for kids (who should still be the primary market). I didn't think I'd skip this one, but I think I'm going to save that space in hopes of a good remake of Obi-Wan's blue interceptor. Thank you for your review, it helped me make an informed decision as a consumer.
I like the new cockpit piece; it's sculpted very faithfully to the original ship's design. The main problems are, Lego's angling for the wings make the cockpit window gaps a lot more obvious than on the CGI models, and the rear section should've been a new piece to better fit the new cockpit's angles. If the wings were set at a different angle and the cockpit had a new rear piece the set would look a lot more accurate, but it's fair as-is.
Something not covered in the review: The wings are too short relative to the canopy. Most lego interceptors get this wrong; in this case, I think the wings need to be about 20% longer. Also, gods that canopy is so much worse - the old one is 100x better!
I don´t know, but to me looking at the reference material you showed it feels like transparant blank plastic would have been a much better fit then the transparant black Lego used here. Being a lighter background would have done good to the bad printing techniques Lego uses still. And those stickers you are right, the inside grey stickers are with 4 per set a fine way of being good to their customers and printing them. On second viewing you holding the older canopy piece next to the model version, i don´t see why Lego wasted time, money and effort in replacing that perfectly fine canopy piece?? There would have been a nice amount of budget to invest in better printing techniques and or graphic design.
i feel like even one stud to keep the canopy down would have been great. i modded my own for that reason, because playing with it upside down opens the canopy which is a big issue when youre in space!
I personally love the new canopy, I don’t know how accurate it is but it looks right to me. My issue is all of the added bulk around the back, those two quarter dome pieces are just waaaay to wide for this scale of ship
I don’t mind the bald ball in the back. The non-bubble canopy also doesn’t look too bad in my opinion. I think it mostly comes down to a scaling issue. Lego doesn’t scale properly to reality, so this looking cartoony and having weird proportions is understandable to a degree.
I think the previous canopy piece was more accurate and crucially also opened without the front glass pane of the ship. I wonder, however, if the rear part of the canopy here wouldn't be better made with the 2x6 curved wedges?
It's all reasonable stuff interesting of brand and cost and inflation but if I do pick this up it might be one of the last lego star wars thibgs I get. They feel priced for adults who collect toys and not as toys. A lot of the market feels that way with the massive increase in 500 euro sets. It's a solid build. But yeah I'm passing out of my fandom for this because of the pricing. The non lego stuff feels way more exciting when I look at the cyber punk police car or the blackbird
very, VERY tiny detail that i noticed is the little wing protrusions near the sides of the canopy are missing a tiny bit of lime green the ship had in the show, probably just me who cares but i miss it since i had to order pieces in lime for my custom build of this ship a while back
I agree that the new piece isn't bad, and the more I look at it, the more i can see it being an actually good representation of the source material, but I do find it puzzling. The old piece was a great representation of the Eta-2's canopy and even had some other uses. It wasn't perfect by any means, and I do think the flaws warranted an upgrade, but If they were going to make a new piece, I don't understand why it couldn't be as bubly in shape as before.
For the prices LEGO charges, why can they never seem to get the line printing even for the bottom of the astromech droid heads? I've seen a lot worse than the one JANG got in this video, but it's still, just comically uneven on one side if you look for it.
As distinct as the Lego ETA canopy is, there was genuine room for improvement. The print colour and opacity, of course, but the print itself could be more accurate. and maybe its hinge could be incorporated into the piece itself. But this wasn't the way to go. Also, not printing the console is ridiculous. I've got dozens of printed consoles from older sets this size. You always used to have these kind of pieces printed. That's just sheer laziness. This set should be £30/$35 retail.
If they're selling it for $45, then Walmart clearence will be around $22.50 at best, as I've not seen clearence go beyond 50% off. And stuff sells fast at 40% or 50% off.
It looks decent. They tried something new, maybe the next one will work out some of the kinks. I like the figures a lot. Integration of the spring shooters is very nice! I’ll get it on sale.
I think the 45€ just feels really egregious as Obi-Wans Starfighter from 2022 (75333) was 35€. That really messed with price-memory for sets of a similar footprint and "class". Heck, similarly the two last "small" Clone Trooper Battlepacks were 19€ and 21€, with the latter being smaller in every dimension. That just smarts. At 35€ or even 39€ this would have been a much more accessible set.

Great looking set but not worth 45$ ever. I dont know why lego does this with their pricing, they are just ripping us off for no reason. If it were 30€ I would have gotten this in a heartbeat

I'm not wiling to pay it, lol. Lots of others aren't either I bet, so sale purchase only if that. I think the previous canopy is objectively better in every way.
It's a shame Lego is having so many problems with dark red printing *and* stickers in a wave with so much dark red. Between this, the Acclamator, and the ARC-170, it's bordering on ridiculous.
Once again I want to buy a set because I like the source material, but I am immediately faced with the fact that I would have to mod the heck out of it to look anywhere close to acceptable.
I love interceptors, and the design has a lot of improvements I LOVE about the wings, but this is just too steep. I'll be waiting for a sale before deciding if I want to get it, gives some room to continue to say no as I've been doing to Lego a lot lately.
I wanted to buy this so I could use it and the figures in a moc but I really can’t afford to buy something when in New zealand it costs 85 dollars, and in certain retailers 75. I wouldn’t buy this unless it got down nearer to 50-60(NZD). to put that into perspective I managed to get the Milano for 180 nzd on a very lucky day, and that equates to roughly 100 usd. To ME the price is a BIG deterrent. Quite sad about it actually…
25$ unrealistic for Star Wars ...as someone who is not a SW superfan this is why I'm loving the City Space sets. I just want to swoosh a spaceship around, I don't want to pay a disney tax for a backstory I'm not invested in.
It’s definitely too high a price for me. I will either wait for a sale closer to a $30-35 price point or skip this one entirely, as much as I would love to have this version of Ahsoka in my collection. I don’t even think it looks bad as a set, but I can’t get behind that price when I already thought the Jedi Bob set was too much and this is even more. I like this, I want it, but the price is just too much.
Mega has been doing just prints and have stopped using stickers for years, and lego can't even put a print on a console piece in a $45 set.
If they added a small vulture droid the price wouldn't be as bad
Yeah I’m thinking the same. We haven’t gotten a vulture droid in a very long time and Lego loves their battle in a box sets.

25$ unrealistic for Star Wars
...as someone who is not a SW superfan
this is why I'm loving the City Space sets.
I got yoda's for 26€, I got obi wan's for 25€. I might get this one for less than 30€
