  • The US F-16 models are denoted by increasing block numbers to denote upgrades. The blocks cover both single- and two-seat versions. While many F-16s were produced according to these block designs, there have been many other variants with significant changes, usually because of modification programs. More than 4,000 F-16s have been or will be produced for more than 24 nations worldwide. This video presents the evolution of F-16 Fighting Falcon.
    Enjoy watching. Cheers!

I had the pleasure of working on most of these variants form blocks 10 to block 60 as a Crew Chief/phase technician in my career with the Air national Guard and later as a Lockheed Martin employee. A total of 33 years. The F-16 will be around for many more!

      Nah!!!
Fighting Falcons are *dead meat* my opinion...
It'll get gobbled up live by a bird of prey call Lightnings (or JSF) cuz everyone else on earth, ie., the Russians, the Turks, the Indians, the Jups, the Gang Nam dance group, are all pushing their own JSF's forcing even the latest block, the viper, out of the market which us why they are assigning a new description to it the F-21 I think...
For a makeshift dime-a-dozen specimen as the Fighting Falcon, as the Freedom Fighter, as the Tigershark, outsourcing these technologies third rate countries such as the ROK (in the form of a Golden Eagle) a'la KIA and Hyundai fashion is the only way to go...
Look, even the once mighty F-100, 101, 102, 104, 105, and 106's must give way to the generation ahead. The Fighting Falcon won't be an exception to this fact. It'll likely be moved at jobber rate until the inventory comes down and from there, if's all the way to the Lightning and the Lightning II and later blocks until another generation of fighters come into the scene..
My 2 cents only of course... I mean who knows if they might not bring the once mighty P-40 back to life and induct it into the present day air forces of the world...

For the rollout ceremony of the first pre-production airplane, the YF was flying the Paris Air Show flight demo nearly over our heads at Carswell AFB. I still have my two molded models of the YFs - one in the red/white/blue paint scheme and the other in the sky/cloud camo coloring. Thanks for bringing me up to speed on all the subsequent variants.

Taiwanese 140 unit of F-16 Block 20s are also receiving upgrades to it's radar and avionic to blk70 standard. That's 206 unit combined, making Taiwan the 5th largest user of F-16 in the world, just behind Netherland.
btw, the enter service year of the block 20 in this video said 1982, which is completely wrong. The correct year is 1997, after the last production of Thailand's Block 15 ended.
That's why Taiwanese Block 20s despite being an A/B variant, have their avionics techs on pair with later F-16C/D Block 50/52 model.

The problem for LMT is they can’t make them fast enough. The small capacity facility where hey relocated the assembly line in Greenville SC is not enough for the huge demand for the Viper. Bulgaria paid for the jets 2 years ago but will get the first coming in 2024-2025. That’s way too slow considering there is a need for new fighters to deter the Russians. Now the country is looking for an interim solution like leasing aircraft from Nato countries until the new ones come in.

@Soul Sphere the 220 was in the Block 32 and 42. The GE 110 went into the 30 and 40. Actually I stand corrected. While typing i remembered the older Block 25's were retrofitted with the 220E and I want to say the F-15Cs as well. This was because the 200 had issues with stalls and AB blowouts. This was fixed by the DEEC.

Israel is the first country to make an operational sortie with this aircraft (attacking the reactor in Iraq)! The first country that shot down an enemy plane with it and still uses it 'operationally' on a daily basis!
Developed the version with the fuel tanks above the wings and even helped Lockheed develop the plane!
And it wasn't even mentioned once in the video.

This video fails to give information about the total thrust ( on afterburner ) of the variety of the F-16 engines. Moreover the information about the performance of the F-100-PW-200 of the first batches is given as some 23,830 lbs, a number that is inaccurate. A thrust of 23.830 lbs had the earlier F-100-PW-100 engine, operational with the F-15A and F-15C aircraft. The F-100-PW-200 installed on the first batches of the F-16A rendered a total thrust of 25.000 lbs.. After a citation of various engine models without mentioning the respective performance data at all, the video mentioned that the F-110-GE-129 and the F-100-PW-229, installed on the F-16/block-50 and the F-16/block-52 respectively, render the same thrust of 29.000 lbs, what is inaccurate because the F-100--PW-220 has an emergency power scale of thrust at 32.000 lbs for one minute on top of the 29.000 lbs on afterbuner.

So sad that we (DK) went for the F-35. I would have preferred we upgraded to the Viper and stuck to it until a reliable alternative were present. Don't even think we need a 5'th gen fighter like the F-35 it be too complex, too slow, and heavy and way too expensive. I'd go for quantity and agility anytime.

Noting that the aussies(continent sized range) acquired the F18 in recent orders, will an updated block52plus-60 to Viper(AESA), rather than a block50/52(no dorsal-spine) to Viper, with the additional spaces in the dorsal-spine(pig mode) for not EW but AWAC duties (missing latrine not lantirn), be more suitable.?
If they want a dog-fighter, they should-not have the conformal fuel tanks which goes with the dorsal-spine in terms of aerodynamics inefficiencies (all or nothing). If they want range, it should be f15 with conformal fuel tanks. Unless they want to get started on an aircraft carrier...
Compare radar capabilites for air and surface tracking for an F16 with dorsal-spine Viper and the latest F18. Useful information for islander nations and long perimeter-border nations (unless they go for 737-200 or LCA with 2x outer pylon with (updated)lantirn(type)-pods. Toilets... latrine...

I'm a little disappointed because my country never got to experience this iconic fighter of 21st century. When our airforce searching for new fighter jet of 80s I'd assumed they evaluated in all angles and at the end they chose Russian fighter jet, while ours neighbours Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia go for Fighting Falcon. All our Mig retired already and still our main fighters is Russian Sukhoi with her partner 8 Hornet..ha..ha..ha...perhaps next fighter Su57..ha..ha..that if we can afford it.

The f16 has a good record. Article I’m reading says total number of kills is 74 with 64 official pilot recognition with a span of 50,000 combat missions no f16s were downed in air combat. The USAF lost 4 in combat and only the USAF has lost f16s in combat. They said in article their was some accidents could be bs but still not many losses to how many kills. Looks like it took out mig 29 they thought was 23
