Just bought this lens, honestly, on a whim because I wanted to check out some Viltrox Glass and don't have anything in a native Z mount for my Z6 at this wide angle focal range. It's supposed to be delivered by 10pm tonight and I'm excited to shoot on it and see how it works. Also gave you a Sub. :)
Hey! It took me a while before I bought some native Z lenses too so def finding brands like Viltrox was a game changer. I now run one on each of my bodies. Def a good budget option these days!
@@MatsuXL Oh I have like 4 Native Z Lenses (The 35mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8 and the 24-70mm f4), just didn't have anything in the Wide (20mm) range, so thought I'd check this out. The Viltrox just arrived earlier tonight, haven't a chance to play with it, but I'm going down to the Red River Gorge Parkway (Kentucky) in a few hours, later this morning, and going to spend the day driving the Scenic By Way. Will definitely be getting some shots there with the new Viltrox 20mm. :)
Thank you man, for trying this lens out so I can get this for my Nikon Z30. It be perfect for me! I would like to ask this though if you could help me out? I’m brand new to photography & recording. I’m wanting a lenses that I can record a hunt with. In your opinion what would be the lenses I should get to record something like that?
@ThisOurSeason depends on your budget. I saw viltrox came out with a couple other autofocus lenses that with the crop factor can equate to an 85mm. For stabilized shots this could work. More vlog I’d go with the kit lens tbh. That 16-50 has VR built in, yes you lose the aperture but it does help when stabilizing in post
If this is for a job, go with one with weather sealing humidity and moisture might get in, and if you go from cold to hot you'll get condensation. Not bad in the long term, but short term has lens is out of commission. If it's just for a friend, sure why not
I disagree. Yes while a non weather sealed lens can develop moisture over time; this would only occur if you continue to move between extreme environments on the regular. Also - for as cheap as this lens, it punches way above its weight class! Yes over time you will want to upgrade to a first party lens. But for many people this should be just fine to start with. When it comes to wedding photography, I would always recommend people understand just aspect of the shot itself. A 20mm lens is wide and some people depending on the size of group may prefer to use their prime it just pull back or walk back physically. This would definitely be more of a secondary lens versus like a primary go to lens (especially for a wedding). Plus at the end of the day your client is only going to care that you got the shot. They’re not going to question what lens you used.

You convinced me, I’m buying it!
My low light wedding kit is the Viltrox 28mm 1.8, Nikon 50mm 1.8 S, and 85mm 1.8 S. Z8 and Z9. Easy peasy.
As of late I've been using Sirui over the Viltrox. But I also moved to more Cine lenses over AF. I'm also shooting a Pansonic S1 over my Z30 for now.
I did like this lens though.
I’ve been wanting to try the Sirui lenses! Def on my wishlist

Are you looking for more vlog style? Or what did you have in mind?
Exactly! Something I could get nice image quality from 50 yards out or further out

Did you get any shots of the water off of the pier? I know the 13mm Viltrox is one of the best one's I've used for over the water.
I stayed more inland off the streets. Def may have to go back for another round
