I agree with other commenters..this was so easy to follow and really upgraded my knowledge of cushion making and…incorporating an invisible zipper…I enjoy your calm and instructive voice and the speed of your tutorial. I listen to your videos as I work at my machine, even when I’m doing a different project. Can’t wait to test my prowess with your rounded cushion cover application!!
Thank you for making this clear, concise video. I really appreciate how you showed how to do those rounded corners. The zipper insertion instructions were excellent.
Bestes Tutorial für nahtverdeckte Reißverschlüsse. Habe 4 Kissen genäht nach dieser Anleitung. Noch nie hatte ich so schön eingenähte Reißverschlüsse. Vielen Dank 🙏 für das Video 😘
Wish i could just buy your 2 lovely bright leaf green cushions, it matches the IKEA tree next to my sofa 🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️🤓🤓 I think i tried once trying to attach that small piece of fabric over the zipper, but i couldnt make it neat 😖😖😖😅😅 Stay healthy, n stay safe Angela 🙏🏻🙏🏻🤓
Thanks Nongnong! I love that green colour! These were for a client to match her antique chairs. You can also use any type of tape to go over the zipper teeth. The main thing is to have it so that the slider cannot go past the opening seam and force the seam to rip. All the best for the new year!
@@NotchesSewing Thank you so much for that explanation. I thought those tabs were only for aesthetic reasons, to look nicely finished! So good to learn even from other comments and replies 💐
I have sewn many pillow covers in the 50+years of my sewing days, I've learned something so simple tonight, a new to me in a 1" sq. zipper end. Why have I not known to add the fabric to keep the zipper from coming out? Well, I know now, I say thanks.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching. Appreciate your time leaving a comment as well. I always reinforce zips on anything so client doesn’t come back with any kind of a rip. Cheers!
I never thought to use ah invisible zipper. I sew zipper seam first back tacking where I want the stops, face zipper down and top stitch then seam rip seam open between backtacks. Then sew sides other side seams. But his seams so easy. I've been looking for a way to add a zipper to my jean bags where I leave waistband on. This may work.
Can you do a video on how to make ruffle scrunchies plz? And also can you tell the measurements to take for medium size scrunchies and mini scrunchies too?
I have watched several hours of videos on making pillow covers and have chosen yours to guide me thru my project!! Thank you for the great video!! My daughter has chosen some low pile fur to cover a Euro pillow (26"). I was wondering if the measurements for the corner cuts would be the same and if you have any tips for putting a zipper in fur. Again, thank you! Your instructions are easy and concise and just what I need to start my project!
You are so welcome! Have a look at my video using a longer pile fur as it may give you a few tips. The corners will be fine for your measurements. You can always cut it out square first, pin around the pillow and mark out the shape of corner you need. You may even want to make the cover smaller to get a nice tight fit. If you are using an invisible zipper, don’t sew too close to the teeth. Leave enough room for the slider to glide between the teeth and fur. It’s easier to sew further away from teeth and sew another line closer if necessary. Sewing too close and having to unpick is a real pain and easy to damage the zipper . You can even use a regular dress zipper and just sew in close to teeth as the fur may cover it. Have fun!
Hi Angela ! I thought you’re taking a break and having some Jook ? Hahaha, just couldn’t sleep in over Christmas, huh ? I got sooo many compliments for the hanging kitchen towels. I made so many for Christmas gifts. I was not expecting a post from you for another week. Yesterday , I was showing my son the fabric for the cushions covers I am making him for his birthday. I told him I am not going to surprise you because you’re too picky. He’s getting his sofas this week , 6 months on order ! Covid has delayed furniture making. You read my mind ! How do you do that ????? You posted a tutorial on cushion covers ! I thought of the overlap covers ….but now that I have seen this video, I am going with zippers. Great 👍 👍video. Thanks 🙏🏻 again ! I hope Christmas was good with the family. We had to keep it small, max. 10. People . Happy New Year 🥳!
I am taking advantage of the couple of days I have off from work to do this work!😊. I still plan on the Jook though… Too much eating over Xmas so I think a nice cleanse with Jook will be perfect. I just wish I could get my hands on some those Asian dried scallops. The local shop still out of stock.. As for reading your mind, I’ve been told I have mild sixth sense. haha! (actually been on the back burner since May to edit….). Christmas was creeping up so decided to upload more “gifty” videos. And here we are with Christmas done and dusted.. All the very best to you and your family for the new year! Thanks again for watching.
Hi there, I have 18” pads would I have to alter their measurements for the soft corners. This is an excellent tutorial you explain everything so clearly.
yes you can sew a regular dress zipper with same method and just have a bit of teeth showing. I've never been fan of overlapped closures on cushion covers..... ( unless there is a button detail). I want to be able to flip around without seeing any topstitching. Thanks for watching.
You're most welcome Kay. I have always inserted invisible zippers this way. I find invisible zippers so much easier and nicer than regular dress zippers on most things. This is how I was taught a million years ago and have never done it before sewing the seam. It's super fast and have always taught my staff to do the same to control the width of seams. My business is clothing alterations and many times a zipper is moved to allow for proper fit. A zipper would never go in before sewing the seam. Thanks for watching!🙂

No you don’t need to change anything as it will just squish inside. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for replying so quickly I really appreciate it
I use a different zipper insertion method but the results are similar.

I've enjoyed your videos. Did you have a reason for putting in the zipper after sewing perimeter seams? Thank you for sharing.

Gotcha.
Hello again Angela 🌷would you have also have a link to the pattern weight you used in this video? 💐
Hi Trixie, I'm afraid my husband made that for me.
@@NotchesSewing Thank you for your quick reply 😊 I just knew there was some reason that there wasn't a link for it in the description! 💐
I’ve yet to find a great set of weights (metal) to add a link….
