4:59- road trips are the best in my M Y! Depends on personal goals. If travel time is the only metric you’re measuring, and any number of minutes over zero extra minutes is absolutely unacceptable, then Tesla road trips aren’t for you. If you like a little exploring, finding new places of all sorts- a mini-adventure with each big adventure, then they’re absolutely fine, and the preferable way to travel. Do they take longer? Yes, about 25% longer. But they’re way more interesting. Plus, since the car is so comfortable to operate and be in for a road trip, it’s great. Full self driving means the driving experience is way better, way more relaxing. New city? No problem. Just turn on FSD and it will do all of the decision making for you. It’s not perfect, sometimes it misses an exit, but who cares, if it’s then going to do all of the subsequent rerouting. Charging in the cold also isn’t a problem. Just set the next supercharger stop in the navigation and the car will automatically pre-warm the battery pack. The people of Chicago likely didn’t know this. Probably a bunch of newbs and underinformed rideshare drivers who didn’t know any better.
Overnight charging from my electric utility, off-peak, it costs about $2.10 for a full recharge. That’s not a typo- two dollars ten cents to get between 250-300 miles of range. Chuck some solar panels on the roof and it’s about as close to $0.00 as you can get.
The total cost of charging my Model Y has been $5 this month. That's it. I've thought about putting solar panel on the roof of my shed just for the car but at costs that low why bother?

We have had only electric vehicles for the past 130K miles. It’s fine. Most of the time it’s more convenient as it’s not practical to make your own gasoline at home.
You want questions about your ride get the Cybertruck!
Get a few questions usually about recharging on the road. Do you know that if you put in a destination on the navigation screen it will plot your course and mark where chargers are at. As you travel it will reroute if the nest charger is full. It will tell you if a charger is out of service. The only real negative is the cost of insurance. It is higher than my Gladiator was. On the other hand parts are higher. New windshield was $1400.

As a truck the Cybertruck is a pretty shitty truck in terms of how much is can carry, the cost of it, lack of features compared to other electric cars and huge quality problems. Getting attention, looks and comments is the primary goal of something like the Cybertruck. If you want a really good truck that just happens to be electric, get the electric Silverado; tons of great features, high quality and it's a great truck.
When I first got my Model 3, almost five years ago, there were not many around. But now, where I live (north of Houston) Teslas are very common. It was fun going to get the safety inspection at places that also do oil changes. What, no oil change? Of course they knew a Tesla don't need an oil change, so they had some fun with it. It used to be common that Tesla drivers would always wave to another Tesla, but that pretty much gone.
