So relateable and well thought. BigBang have done at least 2 songs with a nod to punk. One was a collab with Korean punk band No Brain called Oh My Friend. A lighter vibe than yours, but still has energy. Love that you try out a wide range of music. Have you tried Dios a Japanese rock/pop group. Meant to have the best guitarist in Japan. The thing that made bigbang really unique in the industry back then was their very vulnerable and personal songwriting and presence in their videos, which was not very common back then. It's largely in part to GDragons songwriting. They were the first band to speak candidly about mental health, alcohol and even sex, somewhat. Which was a big deal back then, haha, since South Korea is a very traditional country. Bigbang have amazing lyrics. It's kind of funny this is the first song you watched though, I'd not recommend this as a first song from them. Maybe fantastic baby, or even monster. They have a lot of bops in their catalogue, but also a lot of emotional songs. For a more whimsical take, I'd say "high high", which is a solo project collaboration between TOP and GDragon, the two rappers of the group, or even their later song Zutter. Also any solo song by Gdragon, honestly, is worthy of a listen.

One VIP explanation. I like it. In G-Dragon's part (he's the one who is shown first in the music video), he feels alone and depressed. Although he has money and fame, he becomes lonely as he does not have anyone by his side. His part also goes, "I was always alone. It's been a long time. since I've forgotten about love." Taeyang (the one on the roof in the red jacket) was confused and had doubts about his faith. The cross he drew said, "Sin Will Find You." His part goes, "I hold out my hand, but no one holds it." Just like in GD's case, he was alone and did not know where he should go to ask for help. At the end, he loses his battles against himself and commits suicide, where you see him falling off the building. T.O.P., on the other hand, was shown to be a womanizer. 'Love them for one night, and hate them then when the morning comes." The two girls were also wearing white, signifying that T.O.P. also views them as objects. They started to touch him and his things. got mad and killed them, which is why you see him covered in blood while he is walking. through the alley. He breaks down as he starts to realize what he has done and what he has lost. Daesung (the one getting beat up) was being bullied, which makes him feel like, "At some point, I've gotten scared of people's eyes." He becomes afraid of what people will do to him. While looking in the mirror, he decides to fight back, although he knows that he is not going to win. At the end, the five members all gave in to their personal struggles, thus becoming "losers" in their own ways.

I was a fan in their heyday and let me tell you that despite their problema they are the Kings of Kpop of their time. Here are a few reasons why. Prior to BB (BigBang) most boy bands were cookie cutter. Dances and songs were made by the label that owned them and they just performed. When BB came along they began to have a hand in the writing and producing of their own songs. This was UNHEARD of prior. Also most boy band groups did not have outlandish flashy stylish clothes or brightly dyed hair, BB came along and changed this. Boy band groups also DID NOT do solo work without breaking up, BB changed this. They took breaks that allowed them to work on solo music without leaving the group. Next, most fandoms of groups have a particular lightstick with their initials or logos, BB, specifically G Dragon created this trend and the very FIRST lightstick ever. BB had such a strong stage presence that labels actually brought their rookie boy bands to BB concerts to LEARN how to capture and embody it, BTS INCLUDED. Simply stated they are LEGENDS in the Kpop industry and the Icons of most if not all of the biggest boy band groups that are out there right now. ❤

The thing that made bigbang really unique in the industry back then was their very vulnerable and personal songwriting and presence in their videos, which was not very common back then. It's largely in part to GDragons songwriting. They were the first band to speak candidly about mental health, alcohol and even sex, somewhat. Which was a big deal back then, haha, since South Korea is a very traditional country. Bigbang have amazing lyrics. It's kind of funny this is the first song you watched though, I'd not recommend this as a first song from them. Maybe fantastic baby, or even monster. They have a lot of bops in their catalogue, but also a lot of emotional songs. For a more whimsical take, I'd say "high high", which is a solo project collaboration between TOP and GDragon, the two rappers of the group, or even their later song Zutter. Also any solo song by Gdragon, honestly, is worthy of a listen.

In G-Dragon's part (he's the one who is shown first in the music video), he feels alone and depressed. Although he has money and fame, he becomes lonely as he does not have anyone by his side. His part also goes,

Taeyang (the one on the roof in the red jacket) was confused and had doubts about his faith. The cross he drew said, "Sin Will Find You." His part goes, "I hold out my hand, but no one holds it." Just like in GD's case, he was alone and did not know where he should go to ask for help. At the end, he loses his battles against himself and commits suicide, where you see him falling off the building.
T.O.P., on the other hand, was shown to be a womanizer. 'Love them for one night, and hate them then when the morning comes." The two girls were also wearing white, signifying that T.O.P. also views them as objects. They started to touch him and his things. got mad and killed them, which is why you see him covered in blood while he is walking. through the alley. He breaks down as he starts to realize what he has done and what he has lost.
Daesung (the one getting beat up) was being bullied, which makes him feel like, "At some point, I've gotten scared of people's eyes." He becomes afraid of what people will do to him. While looking in the mirror, he decides to fight back, although he knows that he is not going to win.
At the end, the five members all gave in to their personal struggles, thus becoming "losers" in their own ways.

I was a fan in their heyday and let me tell you that despite their problema they are the Kings of Kpop of their time. Here are a few reasons why. Prior to BB (BigBang) most boy bands were cookie cutter. Dances and songs were made by the label that owned them and they just performed. When BB came along they began to have a hand in the writing and producing of their own songs. This was UNHEARD of prior. Also most boy band groups did not have outlandish flashy stylish clothes or brightly dyed hair, BB came along and changed this. Boy band groups also DID NOT do solo work without breaking up, BB changed this. They took breaks that allowed them to work on solo music without leaving the group. Next, most fandoms of groups have a particular lightstick with their initials or logos, BB, specifically G Dragon created this trend and the very FIRST lightstick ever. BB had such a strong stage presence that labels actually brought their rookie boy bands to BB concerts to LEARN how to capture and embody it, BTS INCLUDED. Simply stated they are LEGENDS in the Kpop industry and the Icons of most if not all of the biggest boy band groups that are out there right now. ❤
