The reason why the fan said bring it back to 140 is cuz she thought Tiffany said the line. People read waaaaay to much into the simplest things.
Since it's an English line, I think Tiffany did take responsibility for that part once Jessica left. So it kinda belongs to both of them. Yeah, I don't think the fan was trying to dig up the past and I don't think Tiffany's response was throwing shade.

Not retire exactly but if the remaining 4 members of SNSD who are still under SM decide to leave SM maybe one day they could share their side of the story. TBH Jessica getting kicked out not only hurt the fans but the group's reputation as well and for me it's really unfair to just jump on the hate train against the 8 members especially Taeyeon since fans create this narrative that Taeyeon is the main villain and wants Jessica out of the group. I'm personally sad too but also I don't want to jump to any conclusions and it's important to hear both sides of the story.

I doubt it. I think that those contracts are very binding. Defamation lawsuits can be filed even if the accusations are true.

There’s no reason to. Why to explore a narrative that can only damage a legacy? All the members, even those that are no more under SM, have a big reputation and that’s thanks to the group.

isnt it obvious? both sm and jessica have adressed what happened back when she was kicked out, even their staff had leaked to the fans what had happened before they even announced she was kicked out, so it's ridiculous to think there is other explanation. The members of snsd haven't talked about it because they know it wasn't really "polite" to force the company into kicking someone out and even involving their rich parents just because they didn't want her to get money out of snsd's popularity (which is kinda ridiculous because jessica had asked permission from sm two times, and sm even promoted her brand even after her departure) The truth was already told 10000 times but people still refuse to believe it.

Girls' Generation is my first and favorite kpop group.
Whatever happened behind the scenes, whoever is at fault, it all breaks my heart. It's obvious how much all of the girls were and still are upset by what happened. Sunny crying on stage, Hyoyeon and Yuri looking sad when they have to silence themselves on camera as they talk about the old days, Jessica's bittersweet 10 year debut anniversary. I am happy that they are all doing well, but I wish in those critical moments, things hadn't fallen apart.

What people should understand is these 9 girls are not all friends from the beginning. They were colleages being put together by their employers. They could've been close, but it would be totally normal if somewhere along the way some thing happened that caused them to fall apart. SNSD seems to have grown super close after Jessica's departure, and Jessica seems to be doing fine by her own. She has her own group of artist friends including her sister Krystal and Amber Liu, so it's not like she's this terrible person that couldn't get along with anyone. I've read the first book that Jessica released, it focused very little on the girl group (maybe just 5 pages out of the whole book) and instead chronicles a romantic affair mostly, so I don't think her aim was to shade anyone. In the future, if the girls decide to leave the past behind and reconcile it would be awesome, but if they don't, it should be fine too. They've entertained us for more than 15 years, they owe us nothing.

I think "soshi bond" was always one of the selling points SM and/or SNSD themselves were (subtlety) pushing for up until 2014/9/30.
And that was what caused all this lingering attachment towards the idea that they are still secretly friends even up until this point.
And yes their bond might've been all real up till that point so I guess they might not have deliberately marketed it intentionally or anything.
However I'm inclined to think it was probably not all that magical since Tiff/Soo/Seo have left SM for 6 years and so far there's been ***no convincing evidence*** that any of those 3 have ever been in contact with Jessica.
If they were that close with Jessica then keeping up with an important friend like her would have been regular enough for there to be ***convincing*** evidence caught by now.

Let's just say there are multiple hints to a more realistic relationship among them (for example there might be non-trivial conflicts etc.) rather than the perfect facade where they seemed so close and understanding towards each other all the time.
Given the way that Jessica was forcibly removed from her group after opening her own business, and the fact that SM told her it was okay, because it wouldn’t have interfered with her Idol schedule, I can only feel heartbroken for her. Plus, there has always been evidence to support that Jessica was simply blindsided by her removal from SNSD, and the Korean entertainment industry as a whole. She started a clothing brand, and suddenly she’s blacklisted. I wonder about Lee Soo-Man’s role in removing her from SNSD.

I really hope that they can reunite someday… I somehow believe that things started getting better (at least from the SNSD members side) since a few years ago. I really appreciate the small things I consider as the OT9 crumbs, such as Tiffany playing Jessica’s song in her two concert dates if I’m not mistaken, and also her playing SNSD’s old song in the radio show she hosted last year and enjoying Jessica’s high note, Yuri liking OT9 pics, YulSic accounts, and viewing fans’ Instagram Stories about Jessica and OT9, and the most recent one: Taeyeon imitating Jessica’s laugh in Amazing Saturday.

Anyone in Korean entertainment industry ,once you get out /kicked out from your company ,it would be too hard to continue working ,unless you are really talentend that surpasses your popularity and a company as big as your previous one is willing to take you which is highly unlikely ! They have very strict mentality when it becomes to work ethics in all kinds of industry that they see it as betrayal when you leave or say something about your former company even when you are in the wrong or not .

I honestly feel that Jessica was voted out because maybe SM or some of the members had some time to think like “hey why should she be able to profit twice from making music with GG and her own fashion label?” I don’t believe Jessica left willingly especially since it was proven that all 9 had resigned before the incident and her fashion line was still a baby company at the time. For the new fans that say “get over it” this moment was crushing because all 9 were so instrumental in female K-pop, the harmonies between Taeyeon & Jessica were so special and clearly missed from the last 3 albums. And just as an example that if Beyoncé can acknowledge 2 of the original members from destiny’s child then you know something happened between SM and the members for them to not say anything which is very odd. I’m glad that each of the girls are prospering in their own ventures but as unfortunate as it may seem until one of them says something, it’ll loom over them forever.

I'm not a fan of Jessica or of SNSD and just learned of this recently because I'm new to kpop. But considering she had permission from the company to start the business, it definitely comes across like the other members (even if not ALL of them) were jealous about it and convinced the company it was interfering. Even if Jessica and SM had intended for her to go solo after that album it looks like ti was rushed to happen sooner and blindsided her which is fucked.
And considering Korea has pretty strict defamation laws, if anything Jessica said was false they could sue easily. The fact they didn't shows that her account of what happened is true. I get people feel some type of way about her books but yknow, if the books are true, why shouldn't she be allowed to speak her truth? Since her contract is no longer active now, it might be illegal for SM to use her image online for promotional purposes, but they are allowed to display past intellectual property when her contract was active.
They just can’t use her intellectual property for the purpose of NEW current promotion when she isn’t working there anymore, it risks causing a lawsuit.

It really bothers me that Jessica got removed from the group (on my birthday too but that’s not the point) for having solo activities but then SM switched up real quick for contracts when 3 integral members left SM and joined other companies for solo activities. But let’s the 3 other members be part of anniversaries. It’s only because SM couldn’t keep any of the money she was making with her brand and considered it a “breach of contract.” That’s it really. I don’t think Jessica was shirking her responsibilities in the group at all considering how hard working she is, how long she trained, and the fact she really could easily have been a solo artist since she’s an all rounder. SNSD is my favorite group and I hate how this has really divided everyone, even still. She’s not my bias in the group but I will always stand with her and support her.

There is no proof to that, through all the selections there were 6 members that never changed... She was one of them but no order was ever set... SM obviously cater and spend a lot of money on perfecting the members, sending Hyoyeon to China for a year, putting Yoona and Yuri on cfs, having multiple videos if not the most for a trainee for Seohyun as she was talented and pretty through all her trainee years... Here is the reality that some people dont get. Most of the girls arent even with SM anymore so they have no reason not to talk to jessica if the issue was the company. I tried telling people this years ago acting like all the girls were angels. The problem is/was between the girls.
I was such a big snsd fan growing up. To this day i never liked a group like them. Jessica was/is my favorite of all time. Im saddened and cant believe its been 10 years. Still a bitter taste in my mouth about kpop the day she left.

Think how twice and blackpink are today. Back then if multiple memebers of a group refused to work with one member then she will be removed. Its that simple. NDA have limits.

I will always remember SNSD WITH Jessica. I am in my 30s and I grew up with SNSD and Jessica was in a large part of their promotions. That is how I remember them.
SM not acknowledging Jessica doesn’t surprise me. They tried their hardest to not acknowledge Jonghyun after his death but the other members of SHINee refused to let that happen. It’s hard to buy their older albums though.
I would love to know what went down after all these years with Jessica and the girls. It’s not going to change how I feel about any of them at this point in time…I’m just nosy…lol. I think either in her book or her recent interview she said something about how she wasn't used to how involved parents in Korea were in their grown children's lives (going to every meeting and their presence being requested for any decision). I almost wonder if the parents were involved in the voting too either counting as a vote or pressuring their kids to vote a certain way.

@@chiyul7576 I saw a screen cap of a non-korean forum article that there was a same rumor has spread out between K-sone and other Kpop group fans before that. there should be more info in some korean forums and fan club forums of other 8 members). those Chinese fans were just the members of those fan clubs and they can read Korean to get info ahead from the majority.(they heard about it while waiting in line to attend taetiseo's kpop expo in asia performance on september 21, 2014)

SNSD were one of my favourite groups back in 2014. Even though Jessica wasn’t my bias, the scandal of her leaving really shook things up. I didn’t exactly unstan SNSD cos no one knows for sure what the truth is, but I definitely watched them more from a distance after Jessica’s departure. And seeing as Taeyeon is the leader and SM value her so much, I feel like if she wanted Jessica to stay in the group this wouldn’t have happened. I still follow all the girls’ comebacks nonetheless but as a sone I’m always OT9.

I knew SNSD and became their fan through my mom’s students(they were in high school and I was influenced by them) when I was in primary school, and I am sure that in 2014 was the year when they was shocked to find out that Jessica’s departure and the current status of SNSD
at this point SNSD is almost done as K pop group, there are hardly any group activities anymore. Taeyeon and Hyo are the ones still promoting as idols, Yoona, Sooyoung, seo and Yuri are actress nowadays. Sub unit Oh gg is not even complete anymore since sunny left SM. Regarding 9/30, OT8 will never talk about it unless the remaining 4 members leave SM and SNSD officially disband.
Jessica got the short of end of the stick thanks to blacklisting by SM entertainment so much she had to promote overseas in Chinese plus international market mainly. Every time Jessica tried to release music as a solo artist, there would be music comeback from one of the SNSD members, coincidence i think not? Even Jessica latest music comeback beep beep, SM pushed Taeyeon comeback to X which come out almost at the same time.
Chances of SNSD reuniting as 9 members are very slim, just like TVXQ reuniting with JYJ ( minus Yoochun, only Junsu and Jaejoong) are slim as well.
Just my opinion but from the sounds of it, there could have been jealous members among the other 8 toward Jessica with her own brand. She was scouted by SM which was rare at that time and had great treatment from SM as she grew up in the company with her sister, both being scouted at a young age. She talks about it in the interview mentioned in the video, and it’s good to hear she has great memories to share. But it’s unfortunate her existence in SNSD was erased when she had been a part of that company for such a long time, scouted at a young age, dedicating to the sound and success of the group, just to, for “unknown” reasons, be kicked out and never credited again as a member

Jessica was the “Nayeon” of SNSD back in the day. I wasn’t a fan when SNSD debuted, but I do know that Jessica was blindsided by the fact that she wasn’t a member the group anymore. Some SONEs thought that she and Taeyeon hated each other. She treated her members like co-workers than members. So I do think that she will ever reunite with her members.
It will break lots of SONEs hearts to see that Jessica has no connection with her members.

she’s blacklisted from SM, so unless all the members had left SM, there wouldn’t be any single member who would acknowledge her or at least tell what actually happened in 9/30. this will forever be SM’s fault, i don’t understand why people blame the 8 girls or jessica alone.
jessica released a statement after her weibo post saying that she received permission from both the members and company to do her brand (as they should start having solo activities) but in early september the members had a change of heart and asked her to choose between her brand or snsd activities. as she already signed a contract with a bussiness partner, she couldn't suddenly back out from her commitment. she approached SM management on september 16 and was told that she still had their blessing but then was asked to leave the group on september 29.
obviously the final decision to kick her out was made by sm, but the members definitely participated in her removal. i still believe in her because she was never refuted by the company or the members and was never proven to be lying.
Here are the facts. Jessica will never most likely never re-unite with SNSD. She was kicked out of the group by SM with Taeyeon and Sooyoung as the ringleaders pushing for it and the rest going along with it. Sunny and Yoona are probably the only ones she ever talks to (if she talks to any of them at all). SM has blocked her from having any music career in Korea.
So why in her right mind would she want to re-unite? Would you re-unite with your enemies who cast you aside like trash? Probably not. If you would - then you're 'froot loops'.
And the group would feel animosity to her for not being committed to the group at the time, and having the situation blow up like it did when it could have been handled by all of them far more carefully. There is blame on all sides in this case. There are no innocents.
SM is not allowed to use her likeness in promoting GG, (and she can sue them if they do) so that's why her likeness doesn't appear, and the inverse is true as well - she cannot use any material from SM or SNSD to promote her present career (or she can get sued by SM or SNSD). SNSD and SM cannot refer to Jessica at all, and Jessica cannot refer to SNSD and SM at all. That's the disassociation agreement they have in place - forever. Not nice at all, but they all (SNSD, SM, and Jessica) built their own hell and now they must learn to either live in it, or forget it. And it's easier and less painful to forget it. This is an educational crash course in how to not handle tensions between people.
If you think this is bad, go research a rock band called 'Yes' and look at their saga - which makes SNSD's drama look like a Disney country picnic by comparison.

I used to be such a big SONE, after they kicked Jessia out I stopped supporting the group, didnt buy albums or payed much attention to them. As a young girl I loved the "girl power" theme and remembered one of the members say along the lines of "if one leaves, we all leave" , I believed that as a teen. Once that event with Jessica happened I realised their words were just words, its a buisness and a ugly one at that .
Didn't Hyoyeon express desire to reconnect with J during the last GG comeback reality show? She didn't mention J specifically but among the members I think she doesn't hold a grudge.
i think the moment you're talking about was during 'girls for rest' in 2018. this is my assumption, but i think she was talking about seohyun, sooyoung and tiffany who left the company but remained snsd members "even though they left, they're still girls' generation", maybe she was confused whether she could mention them or not since they're not in the company anymore

I admire and respect Taeyeon as a talented singer and Hyoyeon as a great dancer but that’s it. I like Jessica better than all 8 of them combined because she's a legitimate multi-hypenate and an elegant one at that. She stepped up to make a name for herself, unlike the others who basically just rode the coattails of the group for the most part. Plus Jessica was definitely a stand out both in performance and visuals back when she was with SNSD (she's on par with Taeyeon’s vocals, Hyo's dancing, and Yoona's aesthetics - at least to me and her fanbase). Clearly, Jess is a versatile celebrity: she can work creatively as part of a group as well as a solo individual. She has a business sense, a fashion sense, and even a literary potential as she just authored a New York Times bestseller, which none of the other 8 has accomplished so far. Also, none of them can cover her lines and adlibs in their songs well, not even remotely; her voice is so uniquely soothing and musical in and of itself.
So your response is to spread hate and lie about all 8 members because you liked her the most. Your talking as if the other members don't have successful acting careers and solo albums as well.

I really thought by now the ultimate truth would come out. It's obvious to me that Jessica was never really well liked in the group. Jessica was my 6th favorite member of the group.....however the way she was chucked to the side of the road really made me upset. SNSD was the group that brought me into KPOP and I idolized this group to no end. But after the Jessica incident...I saw the group in a different light and disliked SM ever since. I stopped listening to SNSd for years as Apink became my favored group. Most of the SNSD girls had side jobs and didn't perform with the group for many concerts. But when Jessica does her side job....all of a sudden, she's detrimental to the group....ok.
But what's funny is my favorite three SNSD songs are sung without Jesisica. I guess it's the style they changed to.
Snsd was my favorite and first kpop group when I was younger I seriously loved them alot but I have to admit after the incident I tried not to judge too much cause no one really completely knows what was going on but between Jessicas statement and SM clearly not making any sense with theirs AND the Chinese blog knowing this would happen before it publicly did… it makes the company and other girls look pretty bad.. esp when back then “soshi bond” was their big selling point.
Its about that time I got out of Kpop for a while.
Oh also, to everyone saying this is old news, move on, and Jessics is not letting go ect, she is banned from promoting at all in Korea and blacklisted as well as probably feels she was betrayed by her “friends” who she had dedicated most of her life working with. I cant really say I would blame her if she is not over it and might potentially never be. I mean common.

SM was the only one being shady by replacing Jessica's photo in the MR MR "100 million views" post.
Multiple girl bands of the modern era (The Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, Pussycat Dolls, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix) have lost members either by resignation or termination but SNSD & Jessica is the most mysterious and interesting because all other groups took only a year or even a few years before the members started telling the truth......SNSD's will be a decade now by this September and the fans + industry only have speculations. That's a long time.
Calling SM shady for that makes know sense, considering you and everyone else no nothing about what goes on behind the scenes. Does SM still have the rights to her image? What if they ran it by her and she didn't want to be posted?

Honestly this whole thing is annoying now. 😒 It's almost 10 years since the whole saga happened. Everyone seems to be doing ok. Jessica shouldn't have published the books knowing that the story is basically about what happened between her and Girls Generation. She feuled her fans and they started to attack the other members. We might never know what REALLY happened that caused her to leave GG but we should leave the past in the past. Nothing will come out of discussing what could've, would've and should've happened.

Love how everyone seems to have forgotten NDAs exist. It's pretty damn obvious they've all had to sign one. It doesn't matter what company they're in if they signed an NDA they are legally obligated to not talk about certain things. Also defamation works differently in Korea so I understand them treading lightly.
Look, I'm a Sone of 13 years, I get that it was hurtful and its frustrating that there is no closure on the issue. People really want a definitive answer so they make one up in their heads that makes sense.
