    My dad had season tickets in 1994-1995 and we got to go to quite a few games. Seeing Shaq live that year is still the most incredible basketball-oriented experience of my life and I have been on hand for great performances by many of the game's legends. He's the reason the Bulls acquired Rodman and that, along with Jordan shaking off the baseball rust and returning to MVP form as well as Nick Anderson's confidence being crushed after the 1995 Finals is why the series between the Bulls and Magic in 1996 went so differently. Thanks for all of the uploads, Max. You're the best. I can't wait for this one to drop.

      The 3 main reasons for the 96 series turning out the way it did was the addition of Rodman (already mentioned), the Bulls not double teaming often which allowed them to stay home on the shooters, and also the Magic having injuries the series was practically over by G3 w/Grant and Shaw both being out.

    Back when Shaq was a gazelle. He only weighed around 295 on the Magic so his athleticism and quickness was at it's peak. He started gaining after going to LA and shot all the way up to 325 lbs. While Lakers Shaq was more dominant and just an overwhelming force I like the athletic freak that was Magic Shaq. Bigger than everyone yet still unreasonably agile.

    I will continue to say Shaq had an incredibly soft touch around the basket despite how big and powerful he was he was never heavy handed on his hook shots, and his footwork was very sound. His only weakness was his motor(except when it mattered most), defending high pick and roll, and free throw shooting. He could have been the GOAT but still a Top 3 Center of All-Time.

    What an unstoppable force. Contrary to what people who have age stigmas regarding players' primes say, Shaq was already fully in his prime by this 1994-95 season.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 2 роки тому +1

      When a player is on a championship contending team which Shaq clearly was here, they're in their prime regardless of how long they've been in the league. He actually had competition at the center position his Magic days so he wasn't considered the undisputed top player of that position at this point.

    • @RetroEternal
      @RetroEternal Рік тому +2

      @@ChrisM07 I see what you’re saying but no center is stopping prime Lakers Shaq. He was a MONSTER and there wasn’t a single center who has ever been THAT dominant. Not only physically dominant but he was nimble, his touch at the rim, and his footwork were areas of his game that made him unstoppable.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 Рік тому +3

      @@RetroEternal There weren't as many dominant centers at that point compared to the competition Shaq had in the 90's it's pretty easy to say that. Plus he wasn't completely unstoppable when he was with the Lakers either Tim Duncan and Ben Wallace were able to guard him effectively while having the ability to tire him out a bit on the defensive end as well making him go out on the perimeter to defend and outrunning him in transition.

      @@user-hs3oq9us9h They knew he was gonna score his points, they shut the rest of the team down by single covering him most of the time and causing him to wear himself down towards the end of the game. Plus there was his "defense" throughout as well, scoring means little if you're giving up more points on the other end.

  • @ChrisM07
    @ChrisM07 2 роки тому +15

    This is proof that Shaq here wasn't all that different from the Lakers version as far as dominance. The real difference was on defense, he actually had competition at his position in his Magic days so he had to be in shape to play against other Cs with the Lakers he could get away with weighing that much with him not having to expend energy on defense often.

    • @kcuba2741
      @kcuba2741 2 роки тому +7

      Shaq's jump hook, overall post moves, and passing ability were more polished with the Lakers under the Triangle offense.

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 2 роки тому +6

      @@kcuba2741 Shaq was already a great passer at this point and while he was obviously a more playoff experienced player with the Lakers he still had problems defending the pick and roll, getting back in transition, and being matched up with athletic interior players where he had to expend more energy than usual. The series with Rockets was one of the few times he actually had to play a lot of 1 on 1 defense where he was getting in foul trouble which neutralized him somewhat it had little to do with his offensive output.

    The combination of size, speed, power and agility in Shaq was unstoppable.
    There were centers that possessed similar isolated and even multiple attributes but Shaq was the complete package.

    shaq says he purposely put on weight because of all the punishment he was dealing with in the low post. trying to contain him, teams were allowed to maul him all game and i guess it started to take its toll. so he went from 300 lbs to like 340 lbs in 1999 and goes on to have one of the greatest seasons ever. add on top of that , his eating habits and never taking care of himself in the off-season he ended being 370 in 2004. lead to great historic results but as he got older them injuries started piling up and he couldn’t dominate the same way

    Shaq was great during this time was an Orlando Magic fan. They made it to NBA Finals in Game 1 very heartbreaking Magic should had won had Nick Anderson not missed 4 FTs. Even Shaq made some FTs in that game,every Magic player did that went to the line except Nick Anderson 0/4 ruined the moment,crowd went from cheering to silent,let his teammates down too.

    Wilt would clamp tf outta bro ngl. Shaq dont wanna see Wilt with 90s rims and rules. Technology and rules didnt allow Wilt to play like this, but he was stronger, faster, more agile, could jump higher, and had way more stamina than Big Mac. Kobe wanted to play with Wilt so bad cause Wilt had that fadeaway mastered and played more, kept his body in shape. No one wants to see Wilt with shooters around him

    He was a beast but he met Hakeem the Dream on the way and get schooled. After that he went beserk with the Lakers...

      Go watch the games and look at the stats. He didn't get schooled. He and Hardaway played Olajuwon and Drexler well. The Rockets swept the Magic because Robert Horry outperformed Horace Grant, Dennis Scott and Nick Anderson combined.
