Baby teething gel or maybe even ground cloves along your gums might help with the pain. Otherwise I’d take ibuprofen as directed. I had braces in high school and it always sucked when they adjusted or tightened them for the first few weeks

Can you set your eyes with translucent powder or do you have to use an eyeshadow?
You can set with a powder but the eyeshadow won’t pop as much!
