- This is a short demo on how to use a CDM that I program for family and friends. I go over how to select a zone and go through channel along with using repeater talk around, high and low power, scan, monitor and home revert.
I like the way you have your radio set up, you should do a video on how you program it. Nice job!
Do you still have the programming software for the Motorola CMD1250s ??
Great video. Maybe you can talk more about programming the radio.
Yeah, I need to work on that but I'm afraid that the Powers of the Big M would have it deleted from youtube. It's hard to believe there are really no videos on here that shows you how to do it.
It would really be great if you can make a video on programming the CDM 1250 for 2 m repeater use!
@@sjklogistics1055 Its really easy. I could teach you.
Great vid thanks
We're the hell did you get your information from i myself can get the Motorola CDM 1250 and 1550 as to the power My radio technician can get those tipe of radios down to 5 watts thankyou very much
I just got two of these radios from a friend. What software are you using to program it as well as cable. Also do you have your programming saved in an excel file. I like how you setup your radio.
Good video. I use the CDM1250 as a base, and have a PM400 mobile in my truck. Just bought an HT1250 for a portable. Tired of all the intermod issues with the ccr's I have been using for years. They work ok, but they are no Motorola for sure. Keep up the videos, I enjoy videos like these.
can this be used by average people and would I need a licensee
You’re good!
Where did you get the software and connector for this radio?
Great video, can you show the button assignments? Is p4 (zone) just assigned as enter? The different scan lists assigned to different zones really threw me for a loop until I watched this video
I have Zone assigned to P4. Once you hit the P4/ZONE button you use the up/down arrow buttons to go through the zones, once you find the zone you want you just push P4/ZONE button again to select that zone. I hope that helps.
@@ingolonehoosier5141 perfect, I got it figured out. I have mine set up as a scanner and has vhf repeaters. Now I need to find buttons to swap out p3 and p4. Thanks for the video.
You mentioned making a programming video, as long as you don't provide a link to the cps download it probably won't be an issue showing how to install cps, drivers and how to use it.
@@RP4886 You can find the buttons on eday. Unfortunately they are not cheap. Just search for "CDM button" and you will find a few on there. Sorry, no programing video's at this time.
@INGO Lonehoosier any way I can message you?
Are there any instructional material? The differences between cb...gmrs
. Etc.
I don't believe there is a instruction manual on how to program. There is a book that you can find that tells you what the radios are capable of doing along with the features it has.
How do you program it?
I used an old Panasonic toughbook with Windows XP, you can find them on eBay for about $150. You will need a program cable, can be found on eBay for around $25, I use cables from Bluemax49er. The software is the tricky part, it can be found on the internet. Unfortunately I don't have a video on a how to program and I don't plan on making one.
@@ingolonehoosier5141 love the content and am doing the same thing for my family around the farm. What version of the software should I be looking for? Thanks a ton!
you got to have a gmrs lic to be able to talk on the gmrs freq like this WRCS984
That is not all true. You can talk on 15-22 as long as you are under 2 watts and not using repeater.
@@ingolonehoosier5141 that not true u still need lic to talk on gmrs
You are still wrong, when the FCC in 2017 changed the license from 5 years to 10 year they opened up channel 15 to 22 to FRS at 2 watts for non license people and 50 watts for license gmrs user. There is even a chart on the FCC that shows this. Please take some time and educate yourself. The gmrs community will be better for us all if we stop spreading miss information. Also check out radio reference, they have many threads on this topic.
Actually Any radio above 2W of power is now classified as GMRS radio: and still requires a license from the FCC to operate. Not much change here, except sharing additional stations with FRS radio users. 73 de KD4CR
On the family do you need to use your call sign?
Thomas W Yes, you need to still use your call sign even if you are using PL tones because everyone that has their squelch open can still hear you.
INGO Lonehoosier Is there any way you will be willing to help me. Don’t know much about the kind of radio only know about portables would really appreciate it
Do you sell them
I do not. I only help family and friends program theirs.
@@ingolonehoosier5141 hey , just saw your video , wanted know what software that can be use to program these type of radios
@@dnyvalls Unfortunately you have to use Motorola software to program these radios, so you only have to options. Purchase it through Motorola which is a pain and costly or find a copy on the internet which is getting very difficult to find but it is out there. Also check with your local ham clubs too. Also you need software for wide band for GMRS so you need the newer version. Wish I could help you more. Kenwood and Icom make very good radios for GMRS too and the software is a lot easier to get.
using a cdm is illeagel to use on the FRS
You are right and I said that in the video too, I even said that I like to scan the FRS channels and listen to the people. Also in the program you can set the FRS channels not to transmit and if you can't control yourself. Some people have a hard time with that.
