Ah Meadow, i wanted to like you a lot more than I did. Don't get me wrong, this is a perfectly fine game. But to me it was stuck in a nowhere space where the core system was cool and i liked it, but some of the other mechanics felt like they took me away from that, without adding much to the game. Probably an odd point of view, but there it is. What did you think about Meadow?
Well it is not a weird point of view man I can totally agree with you... The just draft and block others from drafting from this way is cool and all but the rest was meh... The super powers to get by spending one of your arrows in the bonefire is not that good, and just like in my comment the fact the solo mode is terrible make this game just beautiful in the art and nothing more to offer other than that 🤦
Easily my favorite game of the year. Even found the sleeve set with extra promos and had it imported from Poland. I would go as far as to say this is in my top 10 games of all time. I love both, but I enjoy this game more then Wingspan. That being said we are a gaming family of 3 and our core games are light-mid weight family games. This just hit all the sweet spots for us. I can totally respect your opinion and get that this wouldn't be everyones cup of tea. I was very hesitant with all the hype behind it, but it more then delivered for this gaming family.
This game, from all I've heard of it, strikes me as similar to Wingspan; gorgeous art, some cool ideas, but ends up feeling less than the sum of its parts. The sorta game I'd gladly play someone else's copy but probably never buy for my collection. That being said, I bet some of my friends would love this.
Well, "my" group enjoyed "Meadow" a lot and wish for this title to return to the table regularly. However the conclusion was that the box is a little 'deceptive' for lack of a better word. The game is more complex than cute "games for children" like box could suggest. This is I imagine why some players may feel the game is overblown with rules for such a 'simple' game. For something similar but simpler, and quicker than Meadow I would recommend also good old Splendor.
Wanted to love it too but the solo is really lame I'm sorry to say it like that I saw a lot of compliments that you don't know how much scores the AI will get and he just keeps getting more and more so in the end you are doing a lot if work and lose so what is the point of this solo mode in the first place 🤦 The art is beautiful don't get me wrong but playing a game just the art is good and the rest of the game as a solo gamer only is a huge big mehhhh is not for me 🤷
I found the solo to be quite easy personally, and looking online i'm not the only one who thinks that, some people made rules to make this harder, but yeah the solo is servicable in my opinion, but i would not recommand it for solo play only
@@lucalibre12 yeah that why I passed it totally Maybe it is easy at least you liked it, I really want any good solo drafting game but on the other hand I don't like vp based games so I guess there won't be such a game like that for me 😉

We've fallen in love with it.

Great review Jarrod! The background music seems perfect for this game. Thx!
I impulse bought it based on Dice Tower’s glowing review. Fun, but won’t come close to overtaking Wingspan or Everdell for me. Great art though!
Same! It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a pleasant game and I enjoy it a lot more than I expected to, so I'm happy to own it.

I want this for the art ... but it sounds haaaaaard
Shocked quadropolis wasnt mentioned sharing a very similar drafting mechanism that seems quite unique to me.
Have not played quadropolis soz
Nice review as always.
Kia Ora. I enjoyed this game a lot. Cascadia could be a similar but simpler and faster game. This game can lead to a lot of analysis paralysis.
Kia ora Jeff. Tautoko!
If it was trimmed down than it would a reasonable price.
I see what you did there :)
Looks very similar to Villagers mechanically. Don't think I'd want both.
I wonder if that's why i thought it would make a great small box game if it was trimmed down, because villagers is great

Yeah, can't say the solo mode gripped me either.

Just don’t score Ai and enjoy the game
This game is boring and overly simple. It's pretty but man, so underwhelming.
