A great refresher Blackie. This was second nature for us south Louisiana kids in the 60s and 70s. I thought we were the only ones that knew this stuff but we would have loved to have google maps at that time. LOL
Moving through agricultural areas, we were instructed to always look for irrigation ditches, they provide concealment below the horizon, so your not silhouetted against an open area, hopefully water, and you can move quickly without fighting terrain features.
Actually, dog if cooked properly is good! First time eating it in a stew, it tasted different so I asked and was told that it was dog meat! Dog meat is not as stringy and tough as monkey. Cat backstraps are excellent!
@@Stoney_AKA_James lol. I was joking, and quoting the movie "The Patriot" the scene in the swamp, when they capture the British commanders wagon with the 2 Great Danes. But hey... dinner is dinner.
Owners come looking for their missing dog eventually. In some countries they eat dog on the regular. I've heard of Korea tormenting the dogs prior to slaughter to make the meat extra tough.
I found Blackie from my love of camping and the great outdoors; but you would be surprised how much this info translates into video game tactics aswell !!
Depending on the mission, it might be wise to leave your cell phone at home and use walkie talkies or something similar to communicate with your "buddy". Plausible deniability, your cell phone location can be tracked and used against you. Just keep this in mind also.
Good advice. A buddy of mine recently gave me this small pouch that holds a cell phone. It’s supposed to protect against EMP, those scanners that steal your card number and most importantly it allegedly takes your phone off the grid. while in the pouch it cannot receive calls.i shared my location with my wife but once I put it in the pouch it disappeared. It appears to work but I wouldn’t bet my life on it. It’s best to leave the phone home.
IF you've ever visited your stealth site with your cellphone then your screwed! REALLY! I've abandoned my original stealth site for this reason. BUT still have food and water there to resupply for the longer hike!AND, I do have one of those "Faraday bags" that I use sometimes.
I like to bring my phone in one of the faraday bags and then turn it on and tape it to a bear's back. Bears being omnivores, like people, this simple trick can fool local wildlife biologists. The downside is after you recover the phone, you may get a lot of ads for grubs.
Good video! Intriguing and captivating, You always hear about multiple entries and exits and that’s it! With no further elaboration or explanation. Not so with Blackie, you put some real meat on those bones! Thanks! :-)
Blackie, Outstanding Video and Information, Recon . Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge and wisdom . Yes You Are The Master Woodsman and Buschcrafter Thanks Again. Tim L.
Ahhhh, so much fun with this subject matter. Lots of good info. Ok, fun memory first. Out scouting ahead of deer season opening. OH YEAH! Once you encounter that BULL at no more than 10 yds. - You NEVER forget! That sucker was completely hidden behind a huge fallen tree! I whispered to my brother: "freeze". We probably froze for a minute. Then we slowly started "backing" (a 90 degree left turn for us) away from the bull until we had REAL cover. When I first do recon on an area that I'm sure no other human is going to be interested in (LOL). The first thing I do is install one of my camo cams about 12 ft above ground. IF it's gone when I come back a month later, I know I have to look elsewhere. The tip I want to share is: I want to haul a 60# bag of cement to my secret site and build a fake rock on site to store food and water.
Saw a video somewhere on how to make a fake rock with aerosol foam sealant. Prefab the structural components off site. Be easier to carry the parts in along with 4 or five cans of sealant , and some spray paint of appropriate color. Lots lighter than 60 lb bag of cement.
I wish I could have met a man like you when I was a kid. Would have saved me a life of trouble and pain. Thank you so much for passing this educational material down to our youth.
Protect fishing holes and hunting grounds , but good practice for growing food and grubing too . During the War families had displaced areas to grow food. Also hides . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good info, I used to practice this when I was a kid going in and out of the mine that was by our house, yeah I got caught a few times, but got lucky I didn't get shot.lol
I learned doing ops in the forests for several years, in a past life, that you don't really need camo. I'd wear green, grey, or khaki pants, and a similar long sleeve (earth tones); people won't notice you if you're still, or moving slowly. If i was in a more open area, a little lightweight camo netting in my daypack did the job. Just an option.
I'm in Australia and I think I would be more concerned about the gunshots that seem to be coming from all directions in the two videos of yours I've just watched. They won't hear my crossbow bolts.
Those are black powder shooters at the range.I'm sure he's behind them. That is a local gathering spot for instructors of outdoor skills. Pretty sure he's safe. Several of his videos show different areas, including the range. No worry, Mate.
I wish the jogger that ran down the fire trail through my property this spring had any of the planning you mentioned. All I heard while watching for turkey was Clomp Clomp Clomp... hey hey hey! Hope he crapped his pants. Information absorbed. Thank you Blackie.
Nice 1 Blackie, Great wee bit of knowledge to pass on. Definitely know where your going & it's surroundings.. Gotta know that assignment for sure. !. Thx. 👍🌺
Growing up, I lived within walking distance of a state park. One time my dad and I had an idea. We would try to stalk down a dear and get close enough to take a picture. As we were leaving, we got pulled over because someone saw us get out of the truck wearing camo and reported us as poachers. Going into the woods looking like tourists and put on the camo once we entered the woods would have advantageous.
In Order to move quickly in case of catastrophic emergency railroad tracks is a way to avoid traffic backup on freeway. Small lite motorcycle enduros will quickly allow you to avoid mayhem.
Now days there's the option of a drone to evaluate the area before entry/exit. Would save a lot of leg work for us old geezers. Good overall plan. Look forward to more.
How do I practice the 5 "E"s with a rifle or bow in my hands? How would you make that look unsuspecting? To be honest I don't do much unarmed "sneaking around"...
Great info Blackie, a lot to think about. Would come in handy for dispersed camping on public land. Which I've been wanting to try. I'd rather be inconspicuous while out there. Thanks for the video. 👍🏕
My son and I are planning to go into the woods near us and start setting up small dugouts and camps, I am excited to spend the time with my son wandering the 10 square miles around us
The stealth method that you are talking about works very well I know from experience from using it for a number of applications from my life and former employment also in outdoor applications like hunting, camping,Bush craft,ECT. I am wondering thoe as a fellow outdoors man how you feel about the use of bikes like modified mountain bikes and small trailers being used to carry equipment and game to and from hunting,ECT areas do you feel that it can be done so safely and is it feasible and sporting to do so?
I bikepack quite often and have deer hunted using a bike, so yes bikes are beneficial - plus it's alot of fun, bikes gives you the ability to cover longer distances much faster than walking (especially for those of us with bad knees)!!
My Ram 4 door 4X4 pickup with a matching camper shell is real world stealth. From the city to the woods. No one can see just how well, my everyday looking pickup truck, is loaded up, and always ready, as a bug out/ survival camping vehicle. One man ,one dog can be pretty stealthy in a 4X4 pickup if you play the role of an old guy with health issues. lol P.S. the truck must be nice enough to not ever be noted as a loud old clunker. Stealth is not always cheap. My truck and shell are red. That's as stealth on the road as it gets..... red on the road is the opposite of camo on the road. Camo equals attention on the road. Red can always be covered with camo while at camp. Stay stealthy my friends.
Yeah, leave the cell phone at home, Sweep your vehicle for transponders. Also, check your new store bought clothes and shoes for RFID. Invisible shields are important here, if you can find one. Keeping yourself cool against detections from thermal scan's, seems an impossible task and could get you killed or captured. Bring a drone or two, this might be a real good idea 💡. If you're headed out to the wilderness area's, the u.n. could be waiting now. So many disappearances and no trace. Yeah, underground station's, leading to larger rooms and...... Victory
