    Thank you mate! Nicely done with "easy to follow" instructions. Gave me confidence enough to dare Chang the (hydraulic) steering gear on my ford fiesta by myself. (not done yet). I will try it as soon as I have received the new gear and the weather will not be freezing.
    Have a questio about the servo pump but I'll get back to ask you about that another time.
    Thanks so much and have a great day.

    Top Man great video. I have just done this on axel stands on my drive OK.
    Some points:
    1.Put the steering wheel straight and take the key out(I am told the airbag can go off if key is left in) before you start.
    2.Undo the steering column bolt and remove it from inside before starting. Not as shown in video.
    3.When subframe is lowered and rack is removed, put the new rack in place and put the bolts that hold the rack in place through the holes and PUT THE NUTS ON before raising the subframe.
    4.Make sure you have some way of collecting the fluid when you disconect pipes from rack or block the pipes somehow.
    5.Also if fitting a new/used rack make sure it has the correct conection on the steering column otherwise the steering wheel will not be straiight. I am told there are at least two different position racks known as 2 O'clock and 10 O'clock fittings. Get both racks side by side and centralise the rack using grips on the steering shaft and make sure the connection is in the same when centralised.

      How sure are you there’s two different rack rotations? I did this job thought I was flying I centred the rack but didn’t think about checking the positioning as the key will only let you fit it in one way. Now the wheel is about 30/40 degrees off no matter what you do with it. I no longer have the old rack for reference

    • @orsoncart9441

      @@SweetRelease123 Certian,the connection has at least two different rack positions I have since been told there is also a very rare third type of rack position. You must get the rack with the right conection to the steering wheel shaft,otherwise the stearing wheel will be out of line. I got my rack seconed hand of a scrapped car, the breaker had racks in for a Ford Fiesta but he told me none of them where the same as my car so I had to wait 2 weeks until they dismantled the car they had with the correct rack position. I knew nothing about different rack positions until they told me. They also told me to take the key out of the ignition otherwise when connecting the rack if the outer sleave is pushed up under the steering wheel as you are connecting the rack the airbag will fire.

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV 2 роки тому +1

      If you are at that stage well done you've done all the hard bits. That pipe should just come off on mine I took the 13mm bolt off gave it little pull and it come off nice and easy. If its siezed then get some oil,wd40 etc and try keep moving it eventually it should come off. Please bear in mind when you take the pip off a little spacer/ball washer normally comes off too just be wary of that.
