For as long as I play this game. I wish to play with you one day, when cross play gets added I’ll try. I’m a Xbox guy but you’re my main motivation to get better so I can look better
Dabi is weird to me - he doesn't dish out burst damage (unless someone runs into your traps), but instead he's constant damage that you have to respect by dodging, but doing that means you're open to the other teammates, or failing that, have a tough time counter-attacking inbetween his shots. On paper he's really good. Yet it feels difficult to feel like you perform well as Dabi.
Thing is when people get in on you as dabi, (like the iida in the 2nd game endgame) it can be somewhat challenging to get them off of you. Like a commenter posted on this vid, you wanna be evasive enough to dodge hits, and (imo) between enemy attacks place traps to give you some breathing room to throw out some alphas and do damage. Like with an Iida if he’s on me, usually I try to dodge through a few alphas and beta without really trying to attack back (cause it slows you down and leaves you open to attack). Once his cooldowns are low I’ll setup one or two traps to play around and create a safe zone around my person in case they wanna jump in they hit the trap and you can convert into more damage
Dabi has some trouble getting people off of him, tho the melee can work to some extent. so making sure the space just around you is safe by playing around traps and natural cover is important ^^
Everyone says that Dabi's biggest weakness is his lack of mobility, and it's true he doesn't have any movememt enhancers in his kit, but he can still be pretty squirrely if you learn to optimize what little mobility he does have. Now obviously you should ALWAYS have at least one blue card on you at all times But that's not the only way to make him seem more mobile. For example I see a lot of Dabi players rely primarily on running from a situation and throwing down traps to try and trip up enemies. Not a good idea. Dabi slows down when placing traps and if there isn't much cover enemies can easily see you place them, ruining the surprise. Intead try to dip, duck, dodge and dive away to safety. Keep the enemy in your sights to make note of their aim and make unpredictable dodge rolls to cause your enemies to use up their shots. If you dodge wildly around Froppys and Iidas it can be easier to avoid their attacks than people think, just make sure you keep an eye on their movement. Dabi can also throw down his fire wall to obstruct the enemy's view which is a great strat to get away and hide if you're in a more cluttered area like the cities or a heavily bushed spot. These locations are also the only places where placing traps while trying to run from a situation will actually be helpful, as it's far less obvious and more likely to actually catch any pursuers by surprise. I could go more into detail on good ways to play Dabi strategically but in terms of mobility and getting away from a situation don't underestimate the simple yet effective method of dodging/jumping around constantly rather than trying to just run. You want to be as difficult to land hits on as possible and Dabi's technique is to always be on the move and be unpredictable. You need to utilize his whole kit to make the most of his character.
Very well said; as a fellow Dabi player/enjoyer I completely agree. One question tho, how do you usually play against other dabi’s? Let’s say out in the open without much natural cover
@@fortuneunfaded Good question. In my experience I've not actually encountered other Dabi players that utilize his maneuverability the same way I do in a 1v1. Most average Dabi players tend to be pretty stationary with their attacks, throwing down their fire wall first then using their fireballs, typically using both abilities up rather fast. He's not too different to handle than other characters imo. His fireballs are actually really easy to dodge when you know where they're coming from but you want to roll to the side at the last second for the highest chance of being missed. With this, I never feel the need to use the fire wall at all against another Dabi, especially because again you want to always be on the move and avoid staying in one spot anyway. Jumping around while throwing your own fireballs is great because Dabi's auto-tracking allows him to do so without having to stay still and aim manually like other characters do, leaving you less vulnerable to attack from them or anyone else. Just keep dodging the other Dabi's fireballs via the same method you would for any other character until he uses them all up, throwing your own shots sparingly between each dodge roll. If the other player uses up all their shots, they usually then try to run. In an open space it'd be obvious to see if they start placing traps, so pop a mobility card to catch up quick, trying not to follow their footsteps directly in case they have placed some. Always keep an eye on your fireball count too, you always want to leave one in the chamber so that the rest reload quicker. Many Dabi players tend to use them all to try and get as many hits in as possible, leaving them without their only ranged attack for a few seconds too long. Overall against other Dabis you just want to be more flighty and more conservative of your fireballs. Fire walls ain't neccessary unless you really need to get away to the nearest source of cover to heal , and traps in an open space are pretty useless. (Unless you can get close enough to the other Dabi to slam dunk a trap directly on him, but that's not always easy to pull off). Anyway these are just my personal techniques, but it really depends on the skill of the player you're up against.
@@DemonOfCoffee thanks for the response! I’ve found a lot of players do something similar on MHUR.. go really hard opening up a fight, exhausting most of their cooldowns/abilities. Coming from a MOBA and also playing a bit of Overwatch prior to this game, learning to bait out, exhaust and track enemy CDs is a very important skill to have especially in this game where to me it seems people like to play more aggressively. So again like you said, being able to bait cooldowns without them actually connecting, especially while applying pressure simultaneously gives you a huge advantage in a fight. The less obvious you do so the better. That being said I usually like to play Dabi behind some type of natural cover but I need to become more confident in my dodges. Just asking a theoretical question I guess
@@fortuneunfaded Well put! And yeah it does suck that sometimes you're forced into an open area, especially if the safe zone makes it impossible to go elsewhere, but with practice and the development of your own skills you'll gain the confidence to handle it easier. Sometimes I go into the Training mode or the CPU battles to work on my strat if I feel like I've gotten rusty. Those are good modes to practice dodging effectively.
I just finished playing with Dabi And got my hardest victory ever I was in team with Lvl 99 Shigi and Compress But both went down I decided to save Shigi (later revive Compress) I was guarding him like a dog from Manly asshole until he could get up Dabi is really good in protecting downed teammates
Man as a dabi main them iidas are ruthless they are literal dabi hunters 😭🤣i personally max my gamma after my alpha also try leaving traps in the air when running from iida it helps a lot for me 🥺
Yes they are notorious for hunting Dabis down. I rember saving an Ilda team mate and that Ilda opponent got upset and kept chasing after me, regardless the air traps I left for him and the firewall. He was relentless. He finally got me and kicked me around with his alpha and beta so I couldn't use special action even being downed.
personally i want a cementos guide, also my main/favourite but would you ever do like a guide on Ultra rumble combat tech/mindset? i think i'm diffinetly better after watching you for a while but sometimes i see you do things i never even considered trying idk if its tech but maybe? the only thing i've done on accident that i thought was call is attaching a cementos square to a tree to heal on, idk why but it worked, and people forgot about me
I’m give maybe a somewhat crazy take here. Give dabi the ability to throw his traps so he has the option to place not just where he’s standing. Also along with that tweak, allow the thrown traps if they make contact mid throw with a player to explode on impact, sending the enemy back a bit. I feel like this would add a bit of nuance and creativity in Dabi’s play style, switching between throwing traps and placing them, while allowing him to “survive the dive” a bit better.
Iidas in general are op. They armor through everything... and their attacks feel like they're first priority. Can't snipe them without them being instantly on you, can't get close without being juggled... The only time Iida is weak is when he's running away, or you catch him in burnout. Which is like a 1/10 chance...😅
@@gonzalocanorodriguez4417 i said "feel" which doesn't mean it actually is. But in an online game, a single ping difference just can screw you so badly. You thought you hit first, yet YOU are the one flying off getting combo-ed.

Now with froppy nerfed, iida is definitely the most annoying character
Thursday!?
I’d watch you stream

It’s not even Thursday😢
I think Dabi should have an ability replace for him to have actual good movement
Like idk a fire run where a trail of fire follows him giving him speed?
You and setanno always post the same characters on the same day

i think they shoud nerf kirishima and ida they got most powerful one shot combos
