Sadly it seems many/most NHS hospitals have woefully out of date systems. As a retired IT Security specialist I was in a hospital recently and was left alone in a room with an ancient, networked computer that I could have exploited in seconds with a bad USB dongle and likely gained access to the hospital network. A problem can be that devices or systems, which the hospital relies upon, are only available on older OS versions, which no longer receive security updates (Windows 7 for instance). Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) weaknesses should be an urgent topic for the incoming government in July.
That's why Germany moving to Linux.
None of the systems are compatible with other systems, ie, gp’s can’t talk to the hospital for results of scans or X-rays. The need one system for the nhs.
@@Neerod49fr, I went to emergency room and had catch up treatment in hospital for a year. Then move to the gp to get a new referral because I was moving from Wales to England. Not only at that time the hospital systems were separated, my gp can’t even refer me. I called the nhs hotline, they said there’s both they can do as well as all the systems are separated.
@@user-bi8ko7kc6h I got the Wales nhs app, filled in everything, not be told it will take 10 days to get everything cleared. That is no good to me. Rang the surgery to be told use the app. When I explained, I was advised to call in at 2pm the next day. I already waited for over an hour to get that message.
This is a PRIVATE company running your blood tests, the server is owned by them. That's what happens when private firm run your health service for profit and have recently cut staff numbers.
The servers affected are NOT the NHS servers.
Oh here we go with engineered foreign meddling with elections…just wait and see where this leads😂

I bet tomorrow we will get Rishi’s new shiny Cyber Security policy!
Don't forget the bill that will follow either 🤑🙃🤔
Gonna promise to upgrade all government computers to Windows 7 by 2035
When nurses called a national emergency yesterday and today a cyber attack 🙃
I said the same.
Cyber attack meaning the NHS has gone through medical records deleting any possible criminal implications.
Bang on!! Best comment ever.
Lol keep yer tin hat on.
😂 go stand in a park
@@tactcom7 its already been done. My mate has had his records completely wiped after his recent appointment when the GP thought it would be a good idea to commit gross misconduct and shove his finger inside him for a completely unrelatable problem

Please explain how the Internet will 'literally' be the death of us?

So this is how they are goiing to get the public onside with a war with Russia.
Quick blame it on Russia or China! 🥱
Exactly, anyone with sense knows it’s the ✡️’s
Quick!!!!
We need extra 100 billion to the NHS, so they can employ more equality, diversity and inclusivity managers who I'm sure will be able to sort out that issue!!!😃😊
If they have to ask if a 60 year old man is pregnant before performing a prostate exam, I can only imagine how great their it department is

Top comment.. same needed in schools so they educate our next generation so we don’t need to bring professional workforce from abroad!!! But wouldn’t expect D&I managers/ teachers to have that insight! It’s all doom and gloom!

Stock up for three days. 🙄🙄🙄
Are Doctors and Nurses still working from home ?
They're doing procedures in their front rooms
Let me guess... Somehow this equates to us being under attack and we must be scared!! Fearmongering
Oh no! Hopefully someone will fix this asap, so the NHS can go back to being inefficient again.
My god this happened a decade ago! They still have not upgraded and secured their networks
How completely unpredicted!
So yesterday Nurses claim a National emergency and problems rising, Today a cyber attack is BREAKING NEWS haha Pull the other leg
All this online crap.........its just a house of cards.

Apparently it was a link in rainbow colours for some diversity training. The staff were so keen to click on it and get their fix. Now all they see on their screens is islamic scripture and a whaling prayer noise. So obviously they thought it was all normal.
😂😂
Oh Lawdy, just caught myself watching Sky News. Bye
And they want to have AI doing the majority of the leg work lmaoo
Precisely.. we will leave the hospital with our kidneys in our knees
Cyber attack? Really? Who beilieves
Not I, ex systems analyst here. It is bad system design mostly.
Happened before.
Those who see through the BS know it's story time again
Just another ruse so that they can claim the NHS needs to upgrade, can't afford, therefore privatisation will bring investment.

Blood Transfusion labs getting targeted is too dangerous !
It is especially when the effects of the jabs to the bloods are being questioned
Which is why I no longer give on-line!
It wasn’t directly to the NHS system, it was towards the security company. NHS is just one of the clients of them.

Well we all know what their blood transfusions did to people ffs.
I’m surprised Rishi didn’t immediately blame Russia lol.
Uk with its weakness things in this country have gone wrong
Is it Fujitsu by any chance??
Synnovis. Different company. They run laboratories, doing biochemical testing work for hospitals. Mostly pathology.
They call it a cyber attack...
To me it's Tuesday
It might just improve the system
Yeah right.
Cyber attack or another windows update?
If this is Russia's done it. It would be pretty bad and the UK will have to react to this.
This is Russia according to Macron they the Russians have already done it in France

Leave the world behind
Hackers can change and delete info. Take personal details.
Was it the C.I.A or Mi6?
Russia obviously
NHS PANTS ON FIRE🤔.
Probably running Windows Xo and don't learn after the wannacry virus
Farage steps up to the plate, and the scandals to distract begin!
Is Russia behind this ?.. as they have a track record for committing mischief!..
Red flag, blame Russia
The cyber-attack isn't actually against the hospitals. Their computers are fine. It's against Synnovis, a company that the hospitals contract to run their laboratories. Pathology, blood testing, that sort of thing. With Synnovis's computers offline, they can't run tests and hospitals quickly back up.
This is getting boring
Load of bollox.
Lies lies and more lies!
A load of rubbish i say
Has this bloke been slapped around the back of his head? The eyeballs, on stalks or what?
I just saw this but I will wait until I hear the truth of what has happened
Becoming like the perfect excuse to cover up incompetence. The security systems that hospitals 🏥 would have , couldn't easily be compromised. What can though is how long 🤔 the public has ro wait for a procedure or something that you'd think our NHS could provide on time. A Frikkin Ambulance 🚑 🤦♀️🤷♀️
Yes it could. A lot of hospital systems are on older legacy systems which have not been updated. Hospitals have been forced to transition to digital without overhauling their systems and putting systems in place to help avoid security breaches.
Really. More like the surgeons, consultants and doctors are out on the golf course as usual and the nurses are eating doughnuts while discussing Tik Tok dance routines. The NHS is dead!
i spoke to a guy who works in IT security at a hospital in manchester and he told me he intercepts russian hackers all the time, crazy that this is coming out now
The last time this happened Britain vowed a cyber war retaliation. Will it happen?
Who hacked his eyeballs
Stupidity and incompetence of the victim, especially if it's related to government can be a motivating factor. Especially if the victim learns nothing from previous attacks. Also why is this guy thinking it's unlikely this could be a state actor? He sounds a bit clueless.
all I know is the NHS really need to invest in a better IT team, what's this the second big hack in recent memory?
I rented my couch to a Russian couple, they are very nice people.
Damn space force
Why don't the NHS seem to know even the basics of IT security? Particularly after the previous disastrous Wannacry ransomware attack when Dido Harding was in charge. Simply locking down the computers so that end users don't have any admin rights would remove the risk of unauthorised software being installed and run. Only the IT department should have the ability to log in with an admin account and install software. This is IT Security day one basics. Then on top of that level of protection there are loads of great security tools that would have protected the PCs against these types of attacks. It's incompetence.
Rishi Sunak: 'what excuse can we use this time for the growing problems and waiting lists in the nhs. We have elections coming up????' Health minister: 'we'll blame it on a cyber attack, that way the public won't blame us directly'.
Sly news BS
Oooohhhhhh the scary eyes!! Are we supposed to be scared???
So operations were cancelled? Nothing new there.
Piers Morgan did it.
My hospital where I worked was under cyber attack. Hackers were from Russia named Black Cat.
well perhaps if they spent less time thinking men can have menopause and periods , not being able to tell the difference between a man and a woman and demanding pay rises higher than inflation paid from my taxes while i haven't had a pay increase in 5 years they could get a better security system than windows defender
I guess they didn't invest any of the £350m/week from Brexit to cyber security and they are still running windows XP. Having learnt nothing from the wannacry ransomware. All the best
