    Hi James, I researched solar panels about 4 years ago. I went with Meister Solar in the end. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Good customer service and 4 years of reliable service, I am happy with these guys - no consultation fee lol.
    You make a good point about employing locales and putting food on the table locally :)

    James - You mentioned in your video about manual labor. You're correct unless large projects the norm is manual labor. The wife and I built a five story apartment size house and three triple story apartments in Manila. We employed a lot of workers according to what was being done at the time. My wife oversaw the projects, purchased all the materials herself and hired when needed We even utilized people from the province. The flipino people are very hard working and well work long hours when required.

    James glad to hear that you had a good first initial experience with Solar Philippines. Hopefully, they would be able to help you with your needs. Your experience with the first solar company sadly is the norm in the Philippines. It seems that they do not know how to either market their products or provide good customer service. If you think about this, the Philippines is the number 1 provider of customer serivce in the world (BPO Industry), I guess the other local companies have not learned anything from one of the biggest industry in the country.
    Please do keep us updated with your progress in getting solar power. I am interested to see what Solar Philippines is going to be able to offer you. I am working on a business project to be implemented in the Philippines that has to do with Solar Power.

    hello James. thank you for sharing your videoes with us. You once mentioned about implementing a LAN in your house. I have a suggestion for you, James. I installed LAN on some of my projects he here in Norway. What I did was to install CAT7 double isolation that is certified to tolerate over 800Mhz. This is for multiple usage of the LAN. the LAN cable are now being use for TV, local network, telephone, audio and so on. You just patch over in patch panel. In the end of cables, I use a converter cable called balun cable that has RJ45 in one end and antenna socket on the other end for the tv. If you cannot find cat7, you can at least use better that cat6e. Cat6e I think tolerates 400Mhz which is not recommended for tv transmission. Anyway, a suggestion or tips from me to maximize the usage of your LAN. 😊

    • @MyPIDream
      @MyPIDream  7 років тому

      I never really thought of CAT7 for uses other than network. Hmmm...might have to rethink my solution. Thanks Edwin!

    hello James, I like the idea of solar panels . 1000 watt panel could run a mini split a.c. unit during the day . batteries are pricey for night time storage . And then you like need double the panels in order to charge and consume the same time
    But. are you planning to insulate the walls of the house ?
    we are in Macton island in a hollow block house. it really holds the heat. just like a big sponge . sitting on the porch at night it's comfortable. But walk into the house and it's muggy and hot . ( no a.c. in the main part )

    • @lawrencebyrne3448
      @lawrencebyrne3448 7 років тому

      hi Paul, have you thought about double skin on your wall that get the sun, west facing, just any sort of weather proof material on the outside of the wall with a small air gap, also radiant barrier under the roof and a white roof to reflect the heat makes a difference, also shading any windows that get direct afternoon sun with awnings or louvers helps a lot

    • @boracay12
      @boracay12 7 років тому

      yes all excellent ideas . for example I have seen amaca covering the block wall .
      It's my father in-laws house and we won't be here permintly. So wont worry about that . But I did make two screen doors and put screen on all the Windows. made more difficult by having to remove the security bars first .
      If we build here I am considering a large open air portion to the main part of the house . maybe no walls with a nipa roof and amaca ceiling . It's so much cooler .
      on the other hand a solar panel to run a ac in the day time would also be great. Maybe something with French doors on three sides for cross flow on nice days. and shut up on hot days with solar ac .

    James, you comment about company marketing strategy, be sure to discuss that with the marketing dept in a company or upper management but not the sales staff or customer service as they either lose commission on their sales when they do a quid pro quo or they have no knowledge of the concept

  • @tomquinn7896
    @tomquinn7896 7 років тому

    Have you considered other materials besides CHB for your structure? We are using Hardiflex. It doesn't hold heat like CHB and it can withstand a tremor without cracking and allows better access to plumbing and electricity. If I was going to use CHB I would do what you are doing and go with the 6 inch. I know you've researched. What do you think of Hardiflex? Thanks, James.

    • @MyPIDream
      @MyPIDream  7 років тому

      We're using Hardiflex for building but not to replace the CHB's. Our 6 inch are rated at 1000psi and the fill for the basement CHB's will be 3000psi with 10 inches of CHB (6 in + 4 in). This is to prevent potential cave in from backfill pressure.
      Hardiflex is the standard over here. We'll use 6mm for outside ceilings and 12mm Hardie Senepia for the fascia. For the inside ceilings we'll use Boral gypsum board. In the bathrooms we'll use the moisture resistant (MR) version.

    Introduced your channel to a couple of my friends today. Maybe they will like your channel as so many others do and subscribe.
    Yolanda had a dog outside this morning. Not sure if it is hers or not, but could that be a new friend as well?
    I have never understood the Filipino ways when it comes to advertising either. I always thought it was only in our area they were so far behind in advertising.
    Doing the digging using the workers seems to help the crew members that are not as skilled when it comes to the technical aspects of things. They are allowed to keep doing the manual labor on the digging until they are needed to help with other jobs. That poor guy digging the cistern has been out there making progress slowly but surely.

    Why are you choosing a multi-split AC over individual units? My understanding is the only advantage to the multi-split is if you are limited to how many outdoor units you can have, or worried about the cosmetics. But individual systems are cheaper and if one fails you still have the others to keep you cool while waiting to fix the broken one.
    I actually prefer window units over split-type in this environment, but your house is high class and the window units sometimes appear low budget. The beauty of the window unit is when it needs to be cleaned or repaired, you unplug it and slide it out and carry it out to the truck and let the local shop clean it for 500 peso. And they get dirty very fast. Split type can't easily be removed for cleaning.

    • @MyPIDream
      @MyPIDream  7 років тому

      I'm hopeful I don't have to use the AC that much with the way we set up the house to sun exposure. But since we're housing the outside unit in the basement, I want to take up the least amount of space possible, hence the multi-split option. Unfortunately, I've not been able to source one yet.

      My PI Dream,, I use to try to air condition the whole house and was stuck in the American mindset that it was the the only way, but after working/living in Asia for 20 years, I started to like the old fashioned way of only cooling the room you are in at the time, especially the bedroom.
      Lately I only air condition the bedroom to keep the humidity down and keep one room as dust free as possible, which you can't do with open windows. The daily dust phenomenon is also what made me change from loving wall to wall carpet to loving smooth ceramic tiles which can are easy to clean.

  • @celtosaxon
    @celtosaxon 7 років тому +1

    Have you tried Meister Solar? 3.71KWP 298,655 Pesos. Solar hot water heater 61,345 pesos. They have a website landline (045)436-1481 Maybe you haven't considered it but there are also people installing a combination of solar and wind turbines. You always talk about the wind blowing when it interferes with the sound of your videos. If you have enough wind you can look into getting one. There is a commercial wind farm in Northern Luzon but it is by the water which is the best location.

      Hi Philip. I sent 2 emails to Meister Solar but they keep getting rejected on their email server. Seems their email server is in Germany as its got a .de address.
      Here's my error:

      ---------
      I'll try to call them today for more info.
      I definitely would be able to use wind, but since I don't have a lot of yard space, it would be difficult to integrate, plus if the subdivision is giving me such grief about solar panels, you could imagine how they'd respond to putting up a wind tower in my yard. 😳

    • @mcy2phil
      @mcy2phil 7 років тому

      Did you try to search on olx. It's a website online. If you do a search of "solar panels Philippines for sale" it should appear as one of the top results. As far as wind turbines I believe you said you couldn't put anything facing the street. A wind turbine could be placed to the rear of the house. One of the problems you may incur is with the utility company because you have to have a meter that runs in reverse, "Net Zero Meter."

      You can send private email messages to me securely by clicking on the "about" tab on the main page. There is a section under the Description block with the header of "Details". My email is there next to "For Business Inquiries". Click on that and you can send me a secure email that is only seen by me. A message saying "I'm not a robot" will appear. Click on that and then submit. This prevents my email from getting spam.UA-cam does a great job with their security features.
      Thank you Angel! 🙂

      This is my take on it Thor. The big stores charge more because they are taxed by the government. The owners of, what is called "sari sari" stores are small business people, normally families running from the front of their houses do not pay the taxes like the big stores so they can set their prices lower.

    YOU got to be kidding,, 60K in phils for that piece of land, IN PHILS?? for the land alone,, too expensive for a underdeveloped area that may never have 100% occupancy,,,,,,
