To make things easier, I've added my notes from the video into the description so you can just copy and paste the registry settings.
Amigo, can i upgrade my old laptop to windows 11 when making step 3? 🥺
You rock!
@@KOT-ANGRY sure, I have done several videos on how to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
@@CyberCPU Yes, i saw them all 👍👍👍, big thanks for your work, amigo ❤️
I have a feeling that the dynamic search box is either a security threat or telemetry
I love going into the registry and making changes to suit my needs. I remember people always telling me as i went through my travels through the IT sphere, "Do EVER go into the registry as you'll break the OS!" Since i was always the type of person to NEVER listen to anyone, i went into the registry and broke my OS! BUT...as i got older and much wiser, i learned how to comfortably go into the registry and i've never looked back. I think the biggest problems people have is that they confuse zeros with the letter O. As you mentioned in the video, if you change one single character, you can easily break the system. And the last hack was the best btw.
I really like the way you break the mold of what a "tech guy" should look like!
The "bonus tweak" is all that I needed to make Windows 11 usable. Thank you so much.
If you don’t like editing the registry yourself, WinAero does it all for you just by ticking a box. It has like 100 different tweaks and settings like disabling telemetry altogether and also the ones showcased in this video (and probably the next one too).
I'm filming a video on that program this week. I played around with it this weekend and I'm a little blown away with how many options it gives you.
@@CyberCPU But I like knowing how to do it myself instead of trusting a program to do it all for me :-} I used WinAero and had to do a new Win install all because I wanted my task bar back at the top. Wish I had pro so I could do a victual pc to run testing lol
It is not for the faint of heart. You could easily make your computer not boot into Windows any more if you edit the wrong entry. Or you might cause Windows to behave unpredictably.
@@charleshines8523 Use aomei backupper and dont wory about that.
@@zgboy23Aomei 4 lyfe
Thank you, love them all because I love to play around in the registry. But as you mentioned, always create a restore point, plus I always backup the registry as well. Looking forward to the next video!!
When editing the registry I have found it useful to just type the first letter and let it jump down close to what you are looking for. Example type "S" to get close to search setting and then use the down arrow to get the rest of the way. This works globally throughout Windows (ie. Explorer, Word...) Also right and left arrows work to expand and colapse branches.
Great tip.
This renders my post redundant. I'm always late to the party.
@@CyberCPU you can also paste into the regedit address bar to go to the key you want
Wait what, wasnt this common💀
The bonus hack was what I have been wanting for ages! Thanks 😃
Edit: 5 days after originally posting this comment I keep wondering why the context menu is so big then I remember I applied this hack! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Rich, what an awsome channel! Having held off from upgrading from Win7 due to MS making a total mess of subsequent UIs, you have made the inevitable move to Win11 a lot less stressfull having had to get a new PC recently.
From your Win7 lookalike videos to the reg hack videos, my new PC is actually close to how I had my trusty 12 year old XPS8300.
But what I find is your delivery method is excellent and so easy to follow, unlike a lot of other channels.
I don't normally subscribe to channels on YT, but have here as your channel is spot on!
If I could have, I would have stuck with XP😋😜🤪
I migrated over to Kubuntu for 9 years from 2011 but could only put up with having to reinstall the OS every so often due to the migration tool never working and having to reinstall all my favourite programs.
As well as a restore point before reg hacks, you should also do a registry export as backup. Just to double up.
This is super helpful and makes windows so much more usable.
Great Video , the last was my favorite ,thanks and Greetings from Athens Greece
Thanks man. Found one of the best windows tutorial channel period.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Woof! Besides being an informative and intelligent man, I also love the long beard and little belly (growing?)! Keep up the great work big fella!
Thank You !! I really appreciate your work on these videos
Hello there, looking forward for part 2. Watching you from El Salvador, Central America.
Thanks. I did the first 2. They worked great.
I like almost all of them except the taskbar change...the bonus is the onnnnnnnnne👌🏿👊🏿🔥I love it
Love this kind of stuff, thanks Mike.
You're so energetic! Love that video and it's also very helpful. Thanks!
OMG, I came across this video randomly, bonus hack earned you my subscribe. It's been driving me crazy since I put 11 on.
I remember at one point there was a registry hack to bring back the old Windows 10 taskbar and start menu, however in later builds the start menu is broken and the taskbar is half broken, so ideally you'd want to go with a third party program for that anyway.
Thanks man i really like the "bonus" one. :)
You are a lifesaver! I hate the fact that Microsoft thinks they are the cure-all for the computer world.! Thank you for your video!!
My Favourites were "Disable Dynamic Search" & "Disable Search Box Suggestions". I hate Microsoft's fixation of ramming adverts and their suggestions down our throats. I agree with you, if I want to Internet search for something, I'll open a Browser... just not Edge and certainly not Bing.
Very helpful video, thanks for taking the time to make it :)
Thanks for sharing and the more we know.
The bonas! But seeing I work on other clients computers the others are going to be a life saver for them. LOL Thx man.. goinng to watch part 2. avb
Thank you! The larger taskbar and restoration of the old, functional context menu helps make the clunky Windows 11 UI much better!
I recently got a TPM daughter board to plug into my old Intel X99 based motherboard, after the price dropped substantially - just to see if it would give me the option of upgrading to Windows 11. Even after installing this I was disappointed to see that the compatibility checker still said my system wasn't ready for Windows 11 because it didn't like my i7-5820k CPU (6 cores, 12 threads, clocked at 3.3GHZ - so what's not to like?). I was then surprised a few days later when Windows Update decided to upgrade me to Windows 11 all by itself, which (thank God!) it did successfully. It even kept all my existing applications working perfectly too, stuff like my media server, FTP server, web server, and home security camera hub - stuff that would have been a pain if I'd had to set it up all over again.
The main thing I've been very disappointed about in Windows 11 is how clunky and worse Microsoft's desktop UI has become! I really miss the Cortana/Search textbox on the task bar (without having to pop-up huge menus that I don't want to see), so hope they'll provide some user options for adding it back in.
Even before my Win-10 system upgraded itself, I have used "Classic Shell" for my desktop UI for years. After Windows 11 installed , I was happy to see that its Windows 7 style "Start" button and menus all still worked perfectly - even while the native Windows 11 "Start" button also appeared in the middle of the task bar and worked as well. Maybe someday Microsoft's UI team will create something worth using, but as Windows Vista, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11's horrible desktop UI 's show - they clearly aren't very good at this!
Love what you're doing on your channel - subscribing!
It also upgraded me outta nowhere, but i have a I5-7400.
When you're navigating the Registry, you can reduce the scrolling about for keys, by typing the first letter of their names. If you're a fast enough typist and you manage to hit the second and third letters, too, you'll get to the very key you want, not just its neighborhood.
Removing Bing from search was my favourite. Cheers.
Thx for the tips! You're the best!🔥
Your welcome.
Once Again Sir, Your Amazing! Thank You!
The right-click OLD context menu for 22H2 can be achieved by Holding key while right-clicking.
woow thank you for that information help me alot love you ❤❤❤
Great as always :)
I’ve seen part one and two, would like to watch a whole series of this .
Disabling search box.... worked on 2 win10 home PCs. Thanks!!
TNice tutorials is video is amazing! thanks for posting.
Good effort, dude, these make Windows 11, easier to swallow for those who have chosen to stay on Microsoft's side of the river.
Another great tutorial!
For the context menu tweak, leaving the value blank did not work for me. However, setting the value to zero did work.
Also, as someone pointed out below, even without the registry tweak, shift-rightClick brings up the old context menu.
bonus hack was fire. you changed my life forever haha. bravo
Glad it helped.
Outstanding!!!
Nice, good findings. Would have been nice with the regedit keys and dwords in the description. 😉 The last one was the best one, been bugging me since I started with W11
That's a good idea. I might do that.
Just added my notes to the description. These were the same notes that I was copying from while filming the video. Hopefully that will help.
Changing the context window was my favorite hack in this video.
Thanks for the video. Great tips.
Thanks.
Good content. I am curious where you get the new DWORD values you are using? Are you buying them from a janitor at Microsoft after they sweep up the editing room scraps after the daily carnage? lol
Great info
very useful! thanks
If I want to search the web I'd open a web browser and still not use bing. Thanks a lot, love your videos!
Is it possible for you to make a video on the write-caching option on and off, as well as bench marks on the performance between the two?
Hi Sir,
your contents are awesome ❤️
It looks so easy
As far as this method versus the ISO method using NT Lite, will theses settings be changed back as or when Windows updates? I only want to change the Logo and Background Screen and not mess with too much debloating with the ISO method to make it faster to load more PCs. What do you recommend? Love your channel and appreciate your knowledge.
Love that last one. If we can change the context menu there, it raises the question. Do you know a way to change the context menu in Office to remove the new search bar they've added into it?
Sir, you are old now but you're genius.
Great Video. Is there a way I can disable the Recommended hint that tells me to activate it back in the Start menu?
Hello, did you find a way to have windows 10 notifications style in windows 11? As in separate the calander fron the notifications? Thx and great content.
Hi, great dig in.
These tweats are gold!
Thank you so much. I used a couple and sent the url to my brother for him to use.
Glad it helped.
How about Valorant and Fifa 23 require Secure boot bypass? or should i change to windows 10? Great video, thank you
Hi there. I always wonder why not place a link to a .reg file with all the "hacks" in there? Could be a gist on GitHub or something... How much easier and error-free would it be for people to apply (or choose) what they want from the file instead of kind of forcing them to copy manually what's being shown on in the vid?
You can also disable the new context menu in Windows 11 registry settings by doing the following:
1. Open Run dialog by pressing Win +R
2. Copy and paste the line below and press enter
reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve
3. Click on the Task Manager icon on the taskbar, find Windows Explorer, and restart it.
Explorer patcher also has a setting that changes the context menu back to the windows 10. And next I'm looking for the old Photo viewer and the old audio slider that you would see when you click on the audio Icon or sound icon. In the system tray at the bottom right. I also like the startup and shutdown registry tweaks Like auto end tasks Wait to kill application timeout and hung application timeout or something like that.
Please help i f up i skipped the crate restore pont part and now my pc is stuck on black screen i after i log in what should i do please help mw
Awesome.
Thank you, very useful.
I'd add 7-zip to the list of apps to install, with /S for silent install. It have to be a capital S.
had all of them enabled already ^^
The most I like is your beard! lol Great job
Removing that stupid "show more options" when right clicking on the desktop. The bonus takes care of this. Thanks a bunch.
Glad I found your channel. Is there a way of showing the thumbnails of my photos? Somehow my Windows 11 stopped showing the thumbnails and all I have are generic icons for the images. I’ve done all the typical UA-cam video procedures to get my thumbnails back, but they don’t work. No, I didn’t do a restore point because I’ve never had a problem with my thumbnails with previous computers. I would appreciate it if you can help me. When I get them back, then I’ll be sure to set a restore point from now on. Thank you.
As of 22H2 you just need to hold Left Shift + RMB to open the old context menu instead of going through the sub-menu. I've been using Left Shift for a long time now anyways, since I usually needed that "Copy as path" option visible for me.
Great tip but it's still too many steps.
You can add the reg entry and check my youtube, and Copy to Folder and Move to Folder, awesome add ons, plus if you like the Windows Picture Viewer you can add that one too. Just goes in the more options and its there :) Works great!
It would be nice to make it the default. Microsloth fixed it so that the registry fix no longer does it any more. One good idea would be to put all that minimalistic crap on a special mode for tablets that we can turn on or off at any time. We would be able to choose a classic or tablet mode if they did what I was thinking of. Instead they just want to make annoying changes and continually block us from undoing them. I am just glad I was able to install Windows 10 on my laptop that came with 11 by default. It worked flawlessly for me and all I had to do was make installation media. Of course there are other things that need fixing in Windows 11 but have existed in 10. They are both similar in some ways.
@@charleshines8523 the registry tweak works great. I literally just used it.
@@CyberCPU maybe I did it wrong
the disable online search one has been breaking my balls for months! everytime i type a program name to start it quickly, the start menu lags for 3 or 4 seconds to do an online search before showing me the program i was looking for. Now it's snappy as it should. thanks a lot!
BEST MAAAN)()()(GIVE ME MORE)()()()(WAITING FOR IT!!!
I like them all, apart from the one where you shifted the taskbar which is why I didn't use that one
U always have great tips, but can u do a video to speed up boot time. Something that deosn't involve disabling startup app, yadadadada. I need some new tips
My favorite hack is the one that makes an updated version of Windows 7, including the Quick Launch toolbar. :)
u can also add stickers to desktop if u like that stuff and u can add search bar to desktop if u like
So glad I'm not the only one who is irritated by that dumb menu thing fixed in the bonus hack. THANK YOU!!!
What if you don`t have MoSetup in the HKLM? can I create it and then the rest of the tutorial, will it work. I`m on an old lenovo that will not install W11 without the rufus due to CPU, TPM is good. Thanks for all you do for us Tweekers.
the BONUS i like :)
I have one more question, I really like the weather icon at the bottom left of the taskbar. But I hate the other widgets like news, roadblocks ect. Is there a way to display only the weather?
Thank you Good Video Best Regards
Thanks.
You are a Genius ! Thank You.
Glad it helped.
Is there a way to move the details panel to the bottom of explorer without using third party programs?
I only tried 2 Registry tweaks, ~Change Taskbar size~ would not work for me but ~Restore context menu~ worked perfectly! Thank you! I'm glad to have the old menu back! I'm not a noob on registry tweaks, I've been doing it for years - I typed in Change Taskbar Size in the Reg Editor perfectly but it did not work. I'm running Translucent TB on my taskbar (leftover from Win10), I'll remove it and try again. Windows 10 Pro (OS Build 22621.1413) Edit - I uninstalled Translucent Task Bar and T-Clock (leftovers from Win10) but still couldn't change the size of the taskbar or icons. Weird....
Very interesting and useful. I suggest that you make these registry items into a regfile.
Yes but certain things will break if they used all of them. Ex Change Taskbar size and Move the taskbar.
Beside creating a System Restore poing one can also "Export" current registry settings to a file. In case once want to restore the registry only
I have a video coming out Monday that shows you how to do exactly that.
I've already changed my context menu to the old Win10 version. What I would like to know is how to remove items from the context menu. Every time a new program is installed onto your PC a new item is added to the context menu. Is there an easy way to remove they ones you don't want to see. Thanks
Any way to move the task bar to the bottom but in the bottom to the left corner like it used to be in older windows?
Thanks for the hacks man, always wondered how to make the taskbar icons bigger 🙂
No problem 👍
I believe I go over the settings for the icon size in this video on the second part in this series. I know I've covered it. I just don't remember the video I talked about it in.
I just looked at my notes, it's this video. It's the 4th tip.
It just dawned on me that you weren't asking the question how to do it, but rather glad it was included. 🤣😂
Sorry, it's early. I'm still waking up. 🙄🙄
Like you, I hated that new style context window. Consequently, that was the first thing I looked up and changed when I got my new Win11 machine.
The bonus hack was definately my fav.
Yeah
Is there a setting to move task bar icons from bottom left to bottom center?
Love the last one
the registry for enabling Win11 on unsupported CPUs i think it only works for initially installing Win 11. Any in upgrade installations such as 22H2 from my own experience does not work. I have a G3 5587 that sports a i5 8300H. I use Ntlite on the initial release of Win 11 and I have been running this on my laptop since RTM. To this day since 22H2 has released my laptop has not been able to receive 22H2 on it. I'm ok for the moment as on my main rig which I built has been able to upgrade to 22H2 naturally as it has a support CPU & TPM chip. But it would be nice if there was a way for my laptop to get the latest and greatest though
Can you kindly made a vdo of how to unlock services? it says admin blocked it from access for "your protection"
Hello, it's good video as always. But there is no folder MoSetup in my notebook. I opened folder Setup and i don't see it. Have you got any idea why? Thanks for answear.
That Search reg-hack is cool, but without tinkering with the Registry, I installed [Everything]. I use it mostly for every search on my Windows 11 PC.
One thing you should also do besides making a restore point is export the registry in case you mess up then you can import it back
