      @@Chels-fz5uq There are risks associated with everything; even with driving to the grocery store on any ordinary day. Birth is not nearly as high-risk as it has been portrayed in this hospital-obsessed culture. It is a fact that the maternal and infant death rates increased when women began giving births in hospitals in the early 20th century. There is extreme abuse, coercion, and unnecessary medical interventions that occur for uncomplicated labors and pregnancies. OBGYNs also do not treat pregnancy complications before they occur. Like with the condition eclampsia, this condition is widely remediated by major changes in nutrition (high protein, high salt diet).

      For those of us who started taking labor and delivery away from the medical profession and giving it to midwifes back in the 1970's, we cannot figure out how women keep losing this process. I guess we just feel grateful that women realize that it is not normalizing birth, the normal was there all along, the woman just forgets somehow. Here is to remembering what being a woman is!

    i had a natural home birth as well :) my husband was the midwife - it was incredible. he was my rock, he'd hold me, we'd dance, we'd laugh, he'd encourage me, and so much more. Birth is incredibly intimate. labor took 3 days, but because it was at home my anxiety was low and i was able to dilate properly, and my body was able to take the time it needed. I had no tears. our first is now 5 months old and i would totally do it again. kidney stones are way worse than labor pain, labor pain is INTENSE but moving around helped so much, along with being in the arms of your loved one.

    I’m a 28 year old woman. Married for one year. No kids yet. About 3ish years ago I started getting more in touch with my feminine side. I was definitely a modern feminist with boss babe mentality. I did not have a mother growing up and missed out on that mother-daughter relationship. Just watching you and your daughter in the kitchen together is so amazing to me. To most it seems trivial but to me it is a dream for me to have that close intimate family bond and I hope I can build that with my husband. You know you’re blessed but thank you for sharing your beautiful life for those of us who haven’t had that example, but know it’s possible.

      Hey, just popped here as a feminist to say that feminism and femininity can absolutely go together. I don't know how I ended up on this video, but it was incredibly interesting. I'm a child free city girl, and yet I stuck around because it was refreshing to see a woman completely in charge of her body, her day, her life and in this case her birth experience. This is what feminism is about--choice and happiness.

    • @tiffytatortots1278
      @tiffytatortots1278 5 місяців тому +7

      You realize this IS feminism right? Feminism is a woman's RIGHT to have the choice to do with her life what she chooses is best whether that's staying at home, working or whatever SHE deems fit. For women to have the same rights and opportunities that were always given to men. Stop buying into how the patriarchy has tried to taint feminism.

    • @dxcoco8578
      @dxcoco8578 5 місяців тому +12

      I think y’all missed the point of my comment. But I won’t focus on the nuances. Modern feminism does not focus on family but rather the individual. I do not support that mentality. The nuclear family is more successful and happier. It’s a fact. I am still a feminist and believe women should be able to do what they want, but the modern take on idealistic individualism is not for me.

    • @FlorHuang
      @FlorHuang 4 місяці тому +9

      @@FarmhouseonBoonehi update on how my labor went ...very different than my 8th ❤ but praise God we were in the right place at the right time!! 10 days before my due date (which was Nov 2) l, we were sitting in church Sunday morning and I felt something pop, when I got up there was lots of gushing so I told my husband I think my water broke, but when I got up to go to the bathroom he followed me to tell me I was gushing blood everywhere. From that moment on I instinctively knew I needed a c section asap. It was a miracle that our church was 5 minutes away from the nearest emergency hospital with a labor and delivery. It made all the difference in saving my baby, as the placenta had started coming off the wall due to preeclampsia/high blood pressure. ❤❤ We were able to leave the kids with our church family and rush to the hospital where they did an urgent C-section and just as I was losing the last large amount of blood, the doctor delivered my baby safe and alive. When I arrived at the hospital I was only dilated to 3cm and I wasn't showing signs of active labor which was another blessing because active contractions would have made the placenta come off the uterus even faster which would mean the baby would suffer from lack of oxygen. I am forever grateful for the location I was in. The surgeon who delivered the baby said my intuition to request a c section immediately was the best decision, and the right timing.

      Much later in life I learned how important vaginal births were to the baby vs the doctors desire to work with a controlled situation like a c-section. Had I been better informed, I believe I would have opted to go natural when I could. Each baby was perfect & still are!

      @@theselittlepigsstayedhomeWe're fortunate to have medication and surgery. Some women have a lower pain tolerance. Others just have complications. You never know. It's never been more convenient to be pregnant and experience labor with all these choices.
      Tribal women always gave birth surrounded by a small group of other women for a good reason. It was supportive by older women who knew better and helpful for younger women who needed to learn.
      A birth center seems like a balance between hospital and home (impersonal vs rustic).

      I can relate! My first was born in a way I just didn’t intend because I was ignorant of how it could be. So much trauma from that experience. The next two I just birthed without anyone around to let birth run it’s course undisturbed. Trauma from birth is real and valid. We just have to lift eachother up and help other women lean into that deep maternal wisdom we all share ❤️

When labor started I was completely exhausted and it took about 6 hours or so. It was my first girl and - same as with you - I had the impression that bonding wasn't taking place. It took me months to start to recover my physical strength and years to build a lovingvrelationship with my daughter. But it was all worth while. I'm now 53y. and we have 5 kids. They experienced stillbirths too.
    I'm a mum of 2 children and C - sections for both births. Saved my first born because the cord was wrapped around her neck.
    Saved my 2nd child and me because of grade 4 placenta praevia (cervix completely covered by the placenta).

You’re giving your children quality time and also teaching them life skills. I had a really traumatic birth with my only child and I was 35 years old. Unfortunately, because of the danger to myself or the baby I can’t have anymore children. So I’ve been watching your channel and learning to embrace that all children are miracles. Two of them my water started leaking so I had to go to the hospital asap. (One was at 34 weeks and one at 36 weeks) those labors were much more difficult because I was stuck sitting in a hospital bed for so a long time before real labor started.
