Tracy- I am new to your channel and have enjoyed several of your videos. I really prefer no music as I’d rather hear your comments and directions. Even the bloopers or the self chastising quilters are prone to! I want to hear you talking and giving me hints and tips - also it’s nice to get to “know” you a bit. Most folks subscribe to UA-cam channels because we feel a connection. I have used UA-cam for tutorials on fixing appliances and other how-to’s but recently discovered there are wonderful, warm and interesting humans in YT land making videos on an extraordinary range of topics! And suddenly I have new friends and am invested in their personal life’s - like getting to know a new neighbor or a new friend I may have met. It’s fun!! So please - talk to us!! Looking forward to more of your videos!! I’m already picking out fabric for a puff quilt using your ingenious method - this will be my fourth baby puff play mat and I can’t wait to see how much easier it will be.
Oh! And also, thanks for taking us to Goodwill and Dollar Tree. Check out Harbor Freight - they have magnetic bowls and rotary cutter (marketed as carpet cutting) blades much better priced than those in the quilt shop! I’m betting you can find many other items!! Thank you.
*_Thank you for watching and thank you for all the kind feedback💛I have definitely learned over time to keep music to a minimum🤓Keep me posted on trying the easier method for the puffy quilt💛As far as getting to know me.....I will see what I can do✅_*
Wonderful idea. Thank you! I am going to male this for a baby shower I made a quilt and burp cloths. This will make it complete and they can use it as a baby laundry bag
I went to a yardsale a few days ago and came home with quite a lovely stash of Christmas fabrics. Later that night as I was going though them I was wondering what I could make with them when it dawned on me that I do not like wrapping gifts and I know that tons of gift wrap ends up in landfills every year so maybe I should try making reusable gift bags! I was quite excited at the thought but I haven't had much sewing experience so decided to search for tutorials. I've watched quite a few of them but wasn't satisfied with any of them for one reason or another until I came across yours. I've watched it a few times and taken some notes. Now I think I'm ready to give this project a try. I love how you explain things so well and the bag you made is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
*_What a great family idea to save and trade gift bags....I could totally see that working with several really cute fabric gift bags✅Thank you for the idea!💛_*
I am in the process of making fabric from xmas crumbs. I plan to use this to make your xmas stocking. I will now definitely have to sew my larger scraps together to give this a go. I hope mine turns out as beautiful as yours. My only modification will be to feed a cord from both sides to make a drawstring. As always, your tutorial is brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
I seem to be obsessing with this pattern! It’s becoming my go-to for so many things. Now, I’ve been searching for a good book sleeve pattern. I’ve watch a half dozen videos (I like to pick and choose bits and pieces) and suddenly realized a magic book sleeve is perfect. Actually, I am giving my teen granddaughter a tracing light and needed/wanted to include something to keep it safe. I think the French seems would also add cushioning on the edges. Good thing - only 3 sewing days until Christmas. 🤶 Only difference? I won’t include drawstring.
*_Go for it Sherri.... I came up with that tool about a year ago out of desperation because my safety pin was always coming open inside the channel that I was trying to get it through LOL😂_*
I started using fabric gift bags 15 years ago but your pattern is so much easier than the lined bag I had previously used. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
AWESOME❣️❣️❣️. It IS so cute….I love it🥰. Going to make one fir my youngest grandsons birthday gift for September 15! I actually clicked on your video because I think you are a fabulous instructor 😁 I’m hooked on the Magic Tote and shared that tutorial with my cousin who doesn’t sew much. She loved it so much she went to her local quilt store, purchased supplies and made it that evening for a gift at her first quilt retreat! It was a real hit and she even made one for herself a bit larger to hold her rulers and cutting mat🤩. Thank you SO MUCH FOR your terrific and easy to follow tutorials. I’m so glad I found you and really appreciate the time you share with us🤩🥳🥳🥳
*_Linda, thank you so much for that kind feedback 💛 That is so wonderful that your cousin made the magic tote being a new sewist. The magic tote bag is a confidence builder for sure✅ I really appreciate you and your cousin sharing my video with all your friends too❤️Take care.....and happy sewing friend❤️_*
I absolutely love this!! How Very clever. I make large crochet items as gifts. I’m going to start making these bags to use. The possibilities are limitless well….. Limited to the amount of fabric we have LOL. I hope you have a fabulous day!! Thank you for sharing!! 💚😊💚😊
Love it. Putting this idea down on my holiday sewing list. But I have to say my favorite was your home made tool. Nice way to think outside the box as they say. 👍🏻😁🤗
Hi! What a wonderful tutorial. 🤗. I make the burrito pillowcases all the time, and would have never thought of turning it into a bag! I’m so glad you did. 😉❤️
Another awesome tutorial by you. I think these would also be great to use all year round for giving gifts. Your so very talented. Please keep your creativeness coming.
*_Thank you Anna so much💛 You can absolutely make these all year long.....birthday/mother's day/dad's day....endless for sure! We have to use up our fabric somehow LOL😂_*
The bag is so pretty . I got jelly roll strips . I'm going to make small ones for Christmas candy and a small gift even great for Easter . Just for Adults in my family thank you so much . Going to the kitchen to see if I still have straws hopefully I didn't throw them away .
I use to make gift bags all the time but haven't done it for probably more than 20 years. After watching your video I went and made one! LOVED IT!! So much fun and so fast to make. I will probably make an adjustment to the casing for the drawstring and have it open on both sides instead of just the one side. Will for sure be making a bunch for this year! :)
This was introduced to me as a "hot dog pillowcase" & I've made numerous ones over the years. I just made 10 for my best friend's grandkids :) I love this idea, too!!
*_That is awesome Marla!🤓I also have the magic 2 seam tote bag tutorial too that you would like....✅Just search "magic tote bag"✅ Thanks for watching💜_*
That is just the cutest Christmas gift bag ever! It can be reused and it saves on all that paper in recycle or trash. It is on my list to make for this Christmas. Thank you so much for sharing! ❤️
Love it to so much! If I were to use a large piece of fabric for the body of the bag, how big of a piece do I need! Maybe I missed how much the piece you made ended up measuring. Thank you so much for sharing this! 🤗
I'm out of my 8-year situation, and I'm going to get another great-great someone one eeee :) ! so far the down thing is a spotty internet signal. I can live with that now and into the unknown. by the way you rock at making bags well anything :)
This was an awesome tutorial I love every minute. Is there a pattern for the other on you had on view. How do we get sewing instructions for the magic sewing gift bag please. This is the best Christmas Present I seen so far.
*_Hi Jean🤓-There is no pattern for the poinsettia block gift bag..it was an orphan block that I turned into a bag. The only sewing instructions for this bag are in the video itself✅I did list the fabric requirements in the info box below the video...thanks for watching💛_*
*_Hi Michelle....No formula✅The main part of the bag jus has to be able to fit through the "ruffle part"-if the ruffle part is too small then you won't be able to pull it through. I hope that helps🤓_*
*_Awe...they are totally gettable though✅Start collecting some fat quarter bundles and other precuts....and before ya know it...you will have so much that you will have no choice but to make some Christmas stockings🎄_*
Oh LOL...sorry...I'm slow some days. I am really not sure...it's been a long time since I made this...(I didn't say in the video? shame on my if I didn't LOL🤣)
I would like for you to have a tutorial to show me how to do a double string so you pull to the right and pull to the left: sorry English is not my first language
*_French Nicky....for the double pull string...for this bag-just weave it through like in video but then use another string and weave in the spot closer to the bag (under the channel that you just made)....I actually did think about doing that at first but then chose one string....I hope that helps✅_*

Is there a “formula” to use to make any size gift bag? Like a ratio for the casing vs ruffle vs bottom, thanks. I enjoyed both of you magic bags.
*_Hi Michelle....No formula✅The main part of the bag jus has to be able to fit through the "ruffle part"-if the ruffle part is too small then you won't be able to pull it through. I hope that helps🤓_*
@@TheSewingChannel Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
totally depressed I don't have all those cute fabrics!
*_Awe...they are totally gettable though✅Start collecting some fat quarter bundles and other precuts....and before ya know it...you will have so much that you will have no choice but to make some Christmas stockings🎄_*
As for the string you put in did you go completely around on the other side so it pulls out only on one side
*_Yes...it went through all around so it had 2 openings to tie on the sides✅_*
What size do you need if using whole fabric not scraps for the pieces? Excellent video btw!
Use shouldn't have to change needles from scraps to whole fabrics✅
@@TheSewingChannel no, i mean what size fabric pieces to cut if not strips.
Oh LOL...sorry...I'm slow some days. I am really not sure...it's been a long time since I made this...(I didn't say in the video? shame on my if I didn't LOL🤣)
Maybe I missed it, but what is the finished size of this bag? thanks! I just live it...and the mini gift bag one as well!
Finished size of this bag??
Nervous Nellie here. I wonder if there is concern that the raw edges on the exposed seams on the outside will fray in time.
*_no need to be nervous....it will only fray up to where it is sewn.✅_*
What kind of iron is that? Like that it has no cord
*_My rose gold iron here: _**_amzn.to/3BVP8cK_*
I would like for you to have a tutorial to show me how to do a double string so you pull to the right and pull to the left: sorry English is not my first language

You would just halve that drawstring casing in middle leaving a gap, which would end up where other folded side seam would be.
Try it and see maybe. Hard to understand if I can’t see it. 🤓
@@TheSewingChannel Still would like a video of it
