Funny, that you tighten the screws in the final sequence without steering damper. Of course, that looks easy. But in real its pain in the ***

We showed the most difficult part which is lining up the mounting holes and threading in the bolts. Tightening them is the easiest part, but if you need further assistance on how to, please watch this video from 18:30: ua-cam.com/video/fQbdD5NeEGI/v-deo.htmlsi=SEnIGr5W_z3_Sfkz

@outback Motortek I bought and installed the ultimate protection kit for this motor. I'm happy with the result, but the fuel pump and high-pressure fuel line are fully exposed, which was not the case with the OEM skid plate. I am aware of the limitations due to the design of this motor, but for outback motortek it should be easy to develop an additional shield to keep rocks and debris away from those parts? I don't care about the extra weight, the whole kit already adds a significant amount of weight to the bike. Don't get me wrong, I love your stuff, but I feel like this could be done better. I'll probably come up with something myself, just for peace of mind.

Thanks for your comment. This is one of the reasons why we test our crash bars: ua-cam.com/video/UihuWGASuco/v-deo.html

Video makes it look easy. What a pain to install on '23 SAR. Yes, there was a warning that help might be required, but it's still a pain to install. After the lengthy install of the front bracket, then the crash bars themselves added frustration. Overall, the most disappointing product I've had to work with in a long time. The crash bar design and quality control seem a little lacking. The frame mount end is too high on the frame. The frame flange doesn't seem to be welded at proper angle. The C-clamps stamping causes the welded nuts to sit uneven, and then the bolts don't go straight. The front bolts are too short and likely don't engage the nylon in the locking nut. Maybe I got an early set of crash bar or something (I did buy new in package from someone else), but I certainly can't recommend these. Installed, they seem very sturdy, but If I have to take them off very often to access other parts of the bike, the crash bars will likely end up in the garbage.

We understand the pain and fully aware of the fact that it can be challenging to install the bracket. Our goal was to utilize as many mounting points on the chassis as possible. The location of the steering damper is one of them.

@@Outbackmotortek I managed to get it installed with lots of cursing. I think my biggest concern now will be removing it if necessary for service. I'll try to forward pictures.

Hi guys. I am fitting the full set of protection bars and skid plate to my 2022 1290 Super Adventure S. In the video at 5:33 - 5:35, is it correct that the front of the lower tank fairing now does not get attached to anything? It looks like an empty hole on the video. The original skid plate part had a mounting point on it but that is now obviously gone when removed, leaving no place that I can see to mount the front of this fairing part. Is this right? Thanks!

@@Outbackmotortek SUPER fast support. Thanks guys. Awesome as ever. For anyone else reading and wondering as I was, for the 2022 1290 SAS, it is correct that the front lower bolt on the lower tank fairing does not connect when the original plastic skid pan is removed and the Outback skidplate and lower bars are installed. It is perfectly solid and sits neatly behind the lower crash bars, held in place by the rear two bolts. All good!

What a nightmare to mount the bracket underneath the stearing damper. After 1 hour I give up and put it in the trash bin 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Same here, but I eventually got it. It the video it was mentioned that help might be needed, but what a pain. I ended up removing damper entirely, then placing the bracket and using mechanics wire to hold it in place. Reinstalled damper piston end loosely, and was able to get bolts through damper and bracket into place.
