learn your history. Latvian folklore isnt so far away from skandinavian. there even were Westprussian vikings (living in Latvian territory) roaming Skandinavian islands for pillage
I know my history quite well! On viking time Curlande has nothing to do with Westprussia. Until year 1171 when came crusaders here was living Curones (one of the oldest Baltic nations) and livones (Baltic - Fininsh nation). Curoners were warriors - as well named Curoner vikings. There is no doubt that Latvian folklore isnt so far away from Scandinavian but if we are talking exactly about this song: lyrics are from folklore but music is written by Latvian composer Zigmars Liepiņš.
It's not so easy to translate, but this is best i came with: Will live long, not so long Will not live Sun's lifetime Water, stone Those will live Sun's lifetime Father fathers laid fottbridges Childrens children walked them Children, walk them To last for lifetime Don't you folks laugh Didn't came to laugh at I came with fire Came barefooted I was not a poor child I didn't listen through hand. I was loaf cutter For another bread giver.
In very basic terms, it's a song about youth. The singer, presumably at the end of their life, is encouraging a group of young children to make the most of their lives, for they are not as immortal as the sun, the water or the earth, but the spark within them is like fire. Source: spoke to an actual Latvian.
Father's fathers trew footstools, Children's children walked the footstools. Children walk the footstools so, That it's enough for a lifetime. Don't laugh you people, I didn't come for laughter. I came for fire, With my bare feet. I split the sword, I made the fire. Warm up, my evil days By the steel fire. I'll live 'long not so long, I won't live the Sun's life. Water and stone Those will live the Sun's life. Nine sparks of fire Are risen against the Sun Let the misfortune burn Like the spark of fire I lit a fire From nine twigs God, dear Laima are warming up My fates writer (The best I could do. You for sure can't sing this along, but once you sing four lines you repeat the last two and so on trough the whole song.)

Iespējams vairāki dziedātāji/grupas apvienojās lai izpildītu tikai šo vienu dziesmu.
It was music that moved my soul, very beautiful and naunting and mostly a longing for something lost.

Latvijas flag (Latvijas karogs) is similar to "no entry" trafik sign, this means Invaders kan not go to Latvija but they can get out of it.
Sounds medieval.
