What a message ,sooo true, When I got saved the church I got saved in was doing a Daniel fast at the time,I fasted alcohol ,I wasn't saved at that time hence GOD sobered me up ,I was lead to read the Gospel of John ,got saved shortly after ,went out drank felt so guilty realised what I had was real, never drank again that was 9 years ago , all glory to GOD !

Excellent message from the Truth of God. I grew up in an alcoholic household, and drank in my young years. But; once I came to choose Jesus for my true Lord and Saviour, I stopped drinking and smoking through His strength, by His Spirit. I love to listen to preaching on the Word of God.

I think when Paul said that all things are acceptable but not all things are expedient, this is an area it could be applied too. Maybe someone does struggle with alcoholism but the other person does not. Excess in any form is a sin. One beer or one glass of wine will not make anyone in excess.

Obviously there is not time to go over them all .The Greek word here at the wedding is oinos ......Eph. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine [ oinos ], wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; We know you can get drunk on oinos . The Greek word for un fermented is gleukos or glucose or new wine [ Acts 2:13 ] . This word was not used at the wedding . Romans 14:21 tells us not to eat or drink wine [ oinos ] that would cause are brothers to stumble . Drinking grape juice would not cause your brother to stumble . Maybe we can chat about how wonderful Jesus is sometime .

Indeed, social drinking is sinful, but the Lord's supper WAS served with wine and not grape juice. To say it was grape juice is a Methodist/SDA doctrine, not a Baptist one. Period. Plus, Paul recommended a little wine to Timothy. Therefore, in those two cases alcohol is allowed.

Oynos is the grk word translated into wine in John 2:9 it is also the same word translated as wine in matt 9:17. Old wineskins burst because of the fermentation of the wine. Also Mk 2:22, lk 1:15, lk 5: 37,38. Etc. It is the same word used andctranslated as wine, fermented wine. Jesus made fermented wine.
The Old Testament has 3 different words for wine and differentiates between fermented and unfermented wine #1. .YAYIN: intoxicating, fermented wine #2. TIROSH: fresh grape juice, rarely fermented, “new” wine #3. SHAKAR: Intoxicating, intensely alcoholic, strong drink (often referred to other intoxicants than wine) What a wonderful study in the WORD. The New Testament uses only one Greek word Oynos, so you can NOT defend that Jesus drank fermented wine and so justify drinking.
. 32At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Reminds me of 1st time after taste of alcohol. You see ppl make a sour face at that first taste.
